His summon is better, he is nearly immortal and if it isn't near his body change time ( healthy) his only weakness is genjutsu or sealing, jiraiya needs ma and pa for genjutsu which takes too long to summon and too long to prep the their voices and jiraya has shown to seal elements but not people, not that oro uses elements besides wind and not often. And oros sword can cut through jmans hair defences unless jiraiyas hair is harder then diamonds.

Regardless if Itachi didn't want to fight ninjas in the leaf village he still will, like he did with Kakashi. Itachi's deal with Akatuski was only not to attack the leaf village but they still will attack if leaf ninjas stand in their way when they go after the 9 tails. Kisame flashback before he died that he didn't trust Itachi since they got teamed up which is why itachi kept his sharingan active. Itachi was going with the fight against Kakashi, Asuma and Kurinei(sp?) and only stop because he had a reason to which was Guy came and told the Anbu black ops to go there as well. If Itachi doesnt got a good reason to flee the scene them Kisame wouldn't go along with Itachi and pain and the others wouldnt like it and Itachi will be hunted down like Orochimaru. So if Kisame didn't believe in Itachi's words when saying they will all die if they fought then Kisame who took on the 4 tail beast would have fought Jiraiya to capture Naruto.

Itachi was afraid to go up against Jiraiya, while on the other hand Oro almost got killed by Itachi.

I seriously don't understand, why people think itachi can't beat jiraya just as easy...
Jiraya said HIMSELF genjutsu was his weak point...
Databooks give him a 3 in genjutsu...

Itachi paralyze genjutsu'd that genius , you think jiraya who's weakness is genjutsu won't get beaten 10x easier?

Hmm,ill try and i come with something. Erm here goes nothing. Jiraiya is fighting Itachi in an open field with sage mode activated. Medium range. Tsukuyomi can't work as it is a close ranged genjutsu. Itachi uses Amateratsu but due to Jiraiya high reflexes due to sage mode the flames only burn his arm. Jiraiya distracts Itachi (kage bunshin, summon etc) and uses Fire Sealing method to seal away amateratsu however damage is already done to his arm but further damage to the rest of his body is prevented. Itachi activates susanoo. Jiraiya uses Earth Release: Swamp of the Underworld to contain Susanoo and then uses Summoning: Food Cart Destroyer Technique to prevent Susanoo from doing further harm. Itachi chakra runs out and god knows what happens next. Well, at least i tried.
