I think the sage did give him some power. Originally, the manga said he did. Then in the sage's story. He said he made ashura his heir. It's possible that both happened, he made Ashura his heir, thereby giving him some power. It would makes sense. Like a king picking one of his sons and crowning him. Indra seems like someone who will go to war for some power and not the right to lead people he doesn't even care about.

Your previous post stated that a desendant of Kaguya is a descendant of Ashura. By that dumb logic, you're saying Indra is a descendant of Ashura.

That is very true. But the way that the manga speak of Indra, It seem like he went off traveling, then come back to the village when his father about to die. It is like he didn't fight ashura over power/leadership. It was more over the fact, that father didn't explain shit at all or give any reason why he picked Ashura. and of course, we got BZ lurking in the shadow.

As the creator of Ninshuu, Hagaromo pretty much went round distributing chakra and connecting people by this chakra. He is the only person that could do this because he had RSM and therefore Universal knowledge of all charka. Which would mean his heir would also need access to this knowledge so as to continue in the work. Would make sense as to why Indra would want to be the heir to ninshuu so badly. But Hagaromo picked Ashura. Besides, when sasuke wanted to kill Naruto. Hagaromo said something like, "when I gave everything to Ashura, it ended badly. Now I gave something to both, and it still doesn't end well". This pretty much proves he gave some power to Ashura. So Ashura had RSM.
