Not actually. Only fanatics do that. Many religious people these days study and accept scientific researches. Some even seek to know more, so they read a lot about it. And some even become scientists themselves.
What are you talking about? Wearing clothes is disrespectful? Coming late because I had to deal with certain things vefore coming? That makes so much sense
Show up in church attire on time. Don't expect people to approve of you being a late slob. You probably imagined half of those dirty looks anyway, because you knew full well what you were doing.
Why not let people believe what they want? Is that such a hard thing to do? Religion is necessary Lol..
Wars can't be helped ragardless, peace is never kept for long, especially in todays world.. DESPITE religion.
Though muslim extremists love picking in Israel, I'll admit that.. Israel solos them every time though, neg-difficulty LOL.(Not hating, just giving what I see)
what is your proof of this, human progress has created medicine for the sick, mass production for the needy, and knowledge for the unschooled. technology does not mean weapons
Yah, but at the same time it is also destroying the World. Along with development in medicine, there is also development and outbreak of new diseases(AIDS, Cancer, Diabetes and now the Ebola virus etc.), Pollution is on the rise(which is further increasing chance of disease and bad health), Global Warming and other factors that are changing the whole geographical landscape atmosphere of the World. I'm sorry but Knowledge for who? There are still many places around Africa and Asia which lack proper Education and good Sanitation facilities. U_U
I am a believer...i can tell you that religion provides guidiance, it sets people on the right path of life generally...but due to misinterpretation by certain people, they've being misled.
Religion favours civilization, and has helped to avoid wars rather than create them, teachings of peace and love is what religion is all about it is left for people to decide the path they want to follow
No, religion is beneficial. Without religion, the World would be destroyed as nobody would be living by any rules or firm teachings. Atheists are the problem of this World and if every human was an atheist, then the World would eventually be destroyed. U_U
That's not true at all. I'm an atheist, but I wouldn't destroy the world at all. Infact, look at Scandinavia, the Netherlands and Germany. The most peacefull and advanced countries in the world, yet the highest atheist rates.
That answer is due to lack of correct education on religion. Sure, the laws of today are human made but even humans have influences and without a doubt religions have played a huge part in nearly every human's lives. hmm I don't think anyone religion is sexist, racist or barbaric, but rather it is the humans which misinterpret their teachings and follow their own egos and lustful desires. You probably wouldn't agree with this but if it weren't for religion, you probably wouldn't even be standing on your toes right now. U_U
Not actually. Only fanatics do that. Many religious people these days study and accept scientific researches. Some even seek to know more, so they read a lot about it. And some even become scientists themselves.
The majority are athiests, don't feel like finding the statistics about how many are religious as im currently busy atm but its quite a small amount, if all religious individuals, and I mean the majority, stop spending their time waiting for miracles and actually put there minds together and contribute to the scientific community, we'd be progressing much faster.

Lmao, you must be one of those kind of people. Im wearing clothes, whats the big deal? You want me to come in naked then? Oh wait thats apparently wrong to do for reasons unknown. Who said I came in late on purpose? You are making a baseless assumption I did because I wore sweatpants, which reallly doesnt make sense. Coming in late 10 Minutes isnt a big deal, its when you come in where there is only 5 minutes left that it doesnt look right.
The fact that he was wearing sweats means he must have been in a rush to get there. It's not like he missed out on something that's actually important like a Job interview.
True, people use religion as an excuse but lets look at its teachings/laws
Bible/Torah
"If a man takes a wife and, after sleeping with her, dislikes her 14 and slanders her and gives her a bad name, saying, “I married this woman, but when I approached her, I did not find proof of her virginity,” 15 then the young woman’s father and mother shall bring to the town elders at the gate proof that she was a virgin. 16 Her father will say to the elders, “I gave my daughter in marriage to this man, but he dislikes her. 17 Now he has slandered her and said, ‘I did not find your daughter to be a virgin.’ But here is the proof of my daughter’s virginity.” Then her parents shall display the cloth before the elders of the town, 18 and the elders shall take the man and punish him. 19 They shall fine him a hundred shekels[a] of silver and give them to the young woman’s father, because this man has given an Israelite virgin a bad name. She shall continue to be his wife; he must not divorce her as long as he lives.
20 If, however, the charge is true and no proof of the young woman’s virginity can be found, 21 she shall be brought to the door of her father’s house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. She has done an outrageous thing in Israel by being promiscuous while still in her father’s house. You must purge the evil from among you."
-Deuteronomy 22:13-21
Quran
"Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great."
-Qur'an 4:34
With these we can see people may blame religion for many things but that doesn't make religion (the Abrahamic ones) any where near good
Yes, that's a common thing now, taking statements from these "books" and using it to curse religon or anything similar. But why do you ignore the "good" statements? I never read the bible, nor any religious book. But I'm aware that there are parts in which "love everyone" is supported, am I wrong?
So, if those parts exist, why don't we support them? Nothing is perfect, so you can't expect those religions to be perfect either. But if there are good parts, good statements in it, and some people chose to follow mostly them, then what's the damage?
So, stop saying as if religions only make people hate each other, and only that, because that's false.

And about other workers? An engineer is a scientist too, I hope you're aware of that. They have great knowledge about math and physics, and they wield that knowledge as well.
And, of course, many are PhD in something. You know what that means right? It means they developted a research on their own, and gave a contribution to science.
Are I only gave one exemple. Are you willing to re-chek your statement, now?

Cancer has been around for thousands of years, and the cure for cancer is coming closer thanks to medical advancement. AIDS is lower that its peak it hit a couple of years ago, as for HIV and AIDS, the cure is coming closer. Human pollution has existed for the last 200+ years. And the countries that recycle the most are also the countries with the highest atheist rates. Africa has tons of charities giving people a chance to get education and clean water. Africa is only getting better.
***Do NOT start bashing on religions, this is a serious discussion so please do not start flame wars***
Religion has been around for a very long time. But does it truly bring peace? Many wars in the past were caused by religion itself, and even today people still hate other people because of who they follow. In fact I have even witnessed a religion talking trash about another multople times (I will not say which of course). Does religion cause hate the is beyond unecessary?
Also I also find that Religion causes many prejudices and uneeded hate. Such as the disliking towards homosexuals. Why do they dislike them? Is it because you are still following a book/teaching that was written ages ago? This is the present, stop following the past. I also find that when religious people say "never judge someone", they are being a hypocrite. I remember one time I came into my church in sweatpants and was about 10 Minutes late and everyone gave ugly looks. Why are you upset with me? Be grateful I even came
So I'll ask you this as well. Do you believe Religion is "An Excuse for Ignorance"?
Yes, I don't believe in religion.
My mom's religious but the good kind. I was talking to her about people who follow religion just to enter "heaven" but outside church or whatever they go to, they act like animals. She said that there was two men who wanted to follow Jesus as his disciple and he refused them. Both men had intentions of being close to Jesus" and were trying to learn, but their hearts weren't in the right place. I believe people are this way in rl. The'r hearts don't truly mean what they preach..
I'm a fair and nice individual, not because of god or religion but because that's the right thing and what I feel.
I wouldn't judge someone or purposely hurt them just because religion told me, if there's laws that hurts individuals, I will be against it. I don't bow down to laws or any religion that's fine with hurting a human because it goes against my belief.
Don't remember saying you did it on purpose. But it is your fault either way.
You are making a baseless assumption I did because I wore sweatpants, which reallly doesnt make sense. Coming in late 10 Minutes isnt a big deal, its when you come in where there is only 5 minutes left that it doesnt look right.

Yes but in terms of applying that knowledge to finding out more about how humanity came to be and its origin that knowledge isnt used. When asked about it, they would base their answer around God without any other thought. Im just saying basing my existence on something I cant prove is a bit difficult, and that if we want true answers, we should find it ourselves instead of a book.
