Is Religion a Problem in the World?

Religion has been around for a very long time. But does it truly bring peace? Many wars in the past were caused by religion itself, and even today people still hate other people because of who they follow. In fact I have even witnessed a religion talking trash about another multople times (I will not say which of course). Does religion cause hate the is beyond unecessary?

Also I also find that Religion causes many prejudices and uneeded hate. Such as the disliking towards homosexuals. Why do they dislike them? Is it because you are still following a book/teaching that was written ages ago? This is the present, stop following the past. I also find that when religious people say "never judge someone", they are being a hypocrite. I remember one time I came into my church in sweatpants and was about 10 Minutes late and everyone gave ugly looks. Why are you upset with me? Be grateful I even came

So I'll ask you this as well. Do you believe Religion is "An Excuse for Ignorance"?

No, ppl don't need a reason to look down on others. Even without religion ppl would still discriminate and hate one another for whatever reason. I can't speak for all religions, but mine obligates me to love my neighbor and do onto others as I would like them to do to me. It provides me with moral borders.

"Religion" is not the problem. It's the way people USE their religion that is the problem. if used correctly, religion is fine. However, there are some people who are extremists and believe that they can get away with any heinous acts because "it's in the name of their religion". It's the extremists who are the problem, not the religions themselves. And no, religion isn't an excuse for ignorance.

Anyways, no it's not a problem. I've seen a lot of open minded religious people. But I don't think religion's helping anything either.

Religion was fine, back before culture was civilized enough and we needed answers to questions we could not answer ourselves. Now I find Religions as a hole to be more of a relic of the past and unnecessary for the most part. Museums I think would be the appropriate place for such things for people whom wan't to study the belief systems of the past.

No they wouldn't. I know Atheists who are nice people, can't just generalise. There have been several wars caused by Religion, so you can't just say it keeps peace and order.

It depends on the people themselves. Believing in God isn't bad. Not believing in God isn't bad. It's just the radical forms of both beliefs (or non-belief for those who aren't religious) which cause damage.

Religion is the cause of a lot bloodshed, crime, and war. So yeah I believe religion is a problem. The world would be a lot more peaceful if religion didn't exist.

Every religion has one thing in common: Do good to others and you ascend to a higher life.

People do as they please and ignore what the preacher preaches. They ignore what the book tells them. I have seen people walk in and out of church being as hateful as possible to everyone they pass. It is the new generation of heartless people who have no care in the world. The lack of parental guidance and the lack of religious belief is going to end with a world full of chaos, denial, and envy. We need religion more than ever now and if things don't change soon it will end badly for us all.

honestly it depends on the religion and how people see it. for an example some Christians see those of of beliefs as people who stray from the true path thus will go to hell while other regions do not have this rule thus one religion casts more fear then another which can cause different reactions

I don't believe in God, yet I have many friends who firmly believe in God. We accept each other and moved on like 7 years ago. They're some of my best friends. I'm not going to judge someone simply because of what he believes.
