You said, and I quote "I have a college eaaay thats due that day so I can pass that class." You're seriously telling me, your professor gave you an essay, on Sunday, that determined wether you passed or failed your class? Yeah, not buying it, never going to, stop trying to convince me.

As I said, it's unspoken. Most social concepts are unspoken.

I don't expect you to dress like others, but I do expect you to be aware of how they'll perceive you. For the thousandth time.

Then stop complaining about people not liking the way you show yourself. If you don't care, then don't use this situation as an argument for your case.

Not what I said at all.

Hmmm but that is what you said. I never was complaning, you started a pointless argument on the truth of how people can judge just because of their religion. Last time I checked, if someone is failing, the teacher does give an assignment to them to help them pass. So stope denying reality. I can come in and care less of what others think, I just find it amusing how pathetic they're being bc of nothing.

There's a diference between faith and blind faith. If you have faith, it means you trust something, let's say, that answer, you believe it's correct. However, you'll still check it, not noly to learn more about it, but to confirm the actual truth. That doesn't mean they lack faith.

For exemple: I'm solving an integral: I believe that the method X is the best one to solve it. I believe in that method to solve that integral. But I don't just stand there and say: "Oh,cool then, next one". I test it.

Simply because they have a belief, doesn't mean they'll ignore their own work. They're researching to learn the truth about the origin of the universe, and they already believe in something. That doesn't mean that they'll ignore whatever they find because it's convenient for them.
Being religious doesn't equal being close minded.

In fact, when we are researching, we develop an hypothesis before. Every scientist hope that their hypothesis is correct(they'll find evidences that support it). However,t hat doesn't always happen. It's the same situation, only with different hypothesis. So why would the religious researches act so differently?

Alright then.

That's the thing lol, its a hypothesis, we dont fully believe it. Religious individuals truly believe in their God, although I guess that's just the religious people i've met who seems to be completely faithful, and rather blind. You stated every scientist HOPES their hypothesis is correct, but religious people act like they KNOW there correct and thats where my problem lies. Don't act like its 100% certain. Get my point?

Just saying.

No. People that are stupid and use religion for their dumb shit, are the problem.

I don't see how that matters, really.

Besides, if you support your last statement, then you should also support this: "so in the end religious doesn't harm society in any way".

What I'm defendind here is simple: We shouldn't keep blaming religion for every problem we had, nor we should disrespect a person because he/she is religious. There is no problem with a person being religious, as long as he/she doesn't become a fanatic, as I defended earlier.
And I don't see how any of what you said could possibly give a good reason for we to act differently.
No, religion doesn't harm anything cuz humans change it

True I don't blame religion, I blame human work (and for me religion is human work)

That's not entirely true. Many researches believe in their hypothesis even before finishing their research. It's a part of human nature, everybody wants to be correct. Look at the base, for exemple. I don't even need to explain it, right?
Some people, many people actually, will of course, doubt their own hypothesis from the very beggining, but some will believe it all the way. Of course, it can be a let down, but that's life.

Religious people just simply share a belief. Of course they trully believe it. And there's no problem with that. The problem is not the belief, but what it does to you: If you blindly believe in it, then you'll deny facts and logic(a.k.a fanboys).
If you jusy believe it, you'll stick with it until you're proven wrong, and then, you'll move on.

I am aware that some people state that God is real as if they know they are right, and yes, that's annoying. However, it's also annoying to blame every religious person for that, don't you think?
Besides, what makes those as*hole atheists any different? You know, the kind that just screams: "god isn't f*cking real, and you're stupid if you believe in it, dumbass"
To me, they're just as annoying.

As you can see, that behavior isn't unique to religious people. So there's nothing wrong with religious people, just with some people, in general.

Got it?

There is nothing wrong in religion, or having a firm belief in some sort of faith, it's purpose teaches people from right to wrong, educates them to an extent, but this isn't always the case, if the supposed teacher or person who describes and pours down false knowledge of their own relgion down upon others, teach them the wrong ways, misinterpret the holy books, the learners wouldn't know, especially those who grew up in that religion and will be the reason of their actions in the future. Take the muslim relgion for instance, the religion does not encourage killing, yet people think killing someone along with several other innocent lives is a way to paradise, whereas, that is false and abhorred, many such examples are there, since majority of muslim extremist love embracing falsity. I have seen a bunch of relgious people who think the contrary of what the relgion originally teaches.

True it is very unhealthy to just blindly believe your right, which is why i try to keep an open mind, hence being agnostic. I usually argue against those who either 100% believe in evolution or 100% believe in creationism and try to debate that either could be wrong.

But my main problem is that over half of the world are religious, and while not all are completely blind, and some are smart and scientific, a LOT of them are blind and ignorant. I just think that's not good at all, but you have made good points.

Religion isn't the problem, it's just people who believe their religion is paramount and want to ignore others religions, which usually leads to religious wars-the worst kind of war.

It is indeed. But if you just have a belief, just like that, then there's no harm. Having a belief doesn't mean you'll be blind because of it. You can even believe 100% in it. But when the facts and logic comes, you'll accept it, you'll be calm and cool.

There are a lot of as*hole atheists as well, mostly in the internet. It's just people, after all. I keep seeing less and less religious fanatics, to be honest, even in real life.
Not wanting to be arrogant in here, but I was among the, well, the 2 best students in high school. And the other one is a close friend of mine. He is also religious. And there were atheists in the class.
I managed to "keep my title" in college, and now, I compete against much more people now, with many atheists this time.

I'm aware that grades aren't everything, byt they sure mean something.

All i'm saying is that we shouldn't disrespect or judge a person simply because he/she is religious.

And that's the point. People don't know, but they'll make a judgment based on what they see in front of them. Don't act like everyone from everywhere doesn't do this. Don't give me that, "he could've..." rhetoric. He could've been doing anything.

Again, it's called etiquette. Would I give him a dirty look? Probably not, but there are people who would, and you, as a person, need to expect that. Why? Because you need to be aware of the perceptions of those around you, and don't get offended by them because you're just making yourself part of the problem.

No, I'm calling him disrespectful for saying people need to be "grateful he came."

Which is great, but that's not the talking point so I don't know why you're bringing it up.

No, and no.

Again, it's not necessarily wrong, but you shouldn't expect people to look at you the same way they look at others, who actually put work into their appearance.

Really? Because I see you sating "snobby religious people," making an assumption about the people who dress nicely to Church. Look at that, you're judging people based on your own perceptions, just as they are.

Then you don't care.

Because procrastinating to the day before is totally cool.

And so because others make that assumption it is okay for you to follow everyone else and be appalled by his appearance. Because everyone else did it is not a good reason to look down on others. Just because everyone else may be thinking it doesn't somehow make it okay.

The "you don't know" scenario is quite valid in this case. You didn't ask why he was late or why he showed up the way he did. You just assumed (like the members of his church) that he willingly was being disrespectful.

These are the kind of "judgments" that put the religious and religion itself in a bad light. You didn't exercise forgiveness and understanding. You instead condemn him for not looking like everyone else did or showing up with everyone else.

I don't mean to be disrespectful but that is not very Christian like.

Yah, but they're preparing themselves for war, like every other European country as well as US, China, Iran, Israel and Russia. Countries like that are just war-mongering and how did they end up like that? It was through Modern Technological Advancement.

Wrong, the countries I named are very hesitant when it comes to fighting other countries. Heck, when the plane MH17 was shot, the Netherlands didn't blame ANYONE, instead they mourned the death. You have very little knowledge about Europe if you think they are preparing for war. Europe doesn't want war. They want peace. They have experienced the WWII and are scared for another for these catastrophical events. Scandinavia has a super weak army, and they have the lowest crime rates, yet they have an atheist rate of over 50%. They don't want war either. The technology used in warfare has been pretty much the same with nuclear weapons since the last 20 years. These warfare technologies doesn't make technological advancement bad, I don't get why people are so afraid of it. The weird part is, is that you are currently using a system which was developed for warfare purposes. The Internet. Yet you are using to tell other people technological advancement is bad. Are you kidding me? Do you want a second dark age? Where your precious Iphones, Samsungs, Laptops, Cars, Planes won't get safer, faster and more awesome? Where Medicinal advancement can be so great it CAN be used to cure cancer, AIDS, diabetes? Where you can life longer and have more experiences? I don't get why you can't catch up. You must REALLY love your book if you don't want this to happen.

Yea, everyone should be respected unless they try to shove their own beliefs down your throat relentlessly. As long as a religious person respects my beliefs, or an athiest isn't a douche, then im cool with said person. My point was not that religious people suck but that those people should keep an open mind as much as possible.

Yes, I agree. I think if people accepted each other's beliefs, we would have less fights.

Some people simply just can't stand what others believe in.. and by ''some people" i mean various people from various religions, not just one. I, myself am a religious person but i don't go ahead and bash someone else just because he doesn't keep the same beliefs as me. The problem is not religion rather the human nature itself. Religion is a necessity for this world, it give's some people a reason to live for if you look at it from a different perspective. Just voicing what i seem is true.

Incoming Shitstorm.

True people are so at war when it comes to other's beliefs that its causing so much conflict, which is why im so pushy when it comes to science for its truly the only thing that can prove everyone right, or wrong, and shut everyone up.

while you have some points. Science is not the say all be all. While it has proven and given an answer to some of life's many questions does not mean it is undeniably perfect.

Many studies are often looked at again years even decades later only to find that their original findings where completely wrong and new discoveries on why things work the way they do become changed.

Also look at this way as well:

Just because science can prove how something works....

.....doesn't make it any less of a miracle that it works the way it does. for every question science answers 10 more questions arise.

Where Science ends faith begins and vise versa.

Both (science and religion) are really 2 sides of the same coin.

It sure has helped us come along way though, and what else am I supposed to look to, in order to find answers? The bible? No thanks, I rather find it through humanity's hard work and efforts.

Religion is not the problem people are. Even if you take religion out, there will still be violence in the world.
