Yes I know there's other scientific jobs and thats good for them, but what i'm talking about are those that do indeed go to finding out our origin because thats where the majority of scientists are athiests. That's the side of science that questions religion.

True they are many athiests who sit back and do nothing but my point is they at least question their existence, they wonder how we came to be and as long as we have humans out there who at least ponder the thought that our origin isnt like religion dictates then humanity has hope.

Thought leads to action, if someone's not religion then there more likely to sit down and say "Hmmmm I wonder how we were really created" then they sit down, do their own little research, become interested, consider a career, and we have 1 more scientists added to the world who is pursuing the truth behind our existence. You dont necessarily need to have a career in a science field that pursues our origin, just at least ponder the thought that religion may not be behind our existence.

Cool and everything, but you speak as if EVERY religious person just sit arround and repply, "oh, it's God", to every question we are yet to have the answer.
And that's false. If ONE religious person is a scientist that searches about the origins of life or the universe, then that would make that idea incorrect.
But there's much more than one. And even if many, probably most are atheists, that doesn't erase the existence of those who are religious and are researching in the same area.

And the fact that those people exist is a proof that religious people can benefit society in that area as well, they simply don't let their religion blindly guide them.

Besides, you're still talking as if finding out the origins of the universe and life is the only thing that matters for science. I'm starting to get a little offended here.

But that way you aren't really Christain or Muslim or Jew, you're just a person who believes in God, you aren't really part of those religions

Well, new days, new rules, I guess. I don't see a problem with that, and to be honest, I don't see other religious people having a problem with that either(other than fanatics).
So I still can't see the damage.

How so? Because he did not enter the house of god dressed like everyone else or at the same time as everyone else. I didn't see anywhere in the OP's post that suggests this is a common occurance. You have no idea what just happened prior to him being lat. For all you know the "matter" he had to take care of could have meant the difference between life and death.

And that's the point. People don't know, but they'll make a judgment based on what they see in front of them. Don't act like everyone from everywhere doesn't do this. Don't give me that, "he could've..." rhetoric. He could've been doing anything.

Even so he still swallowed his pride and showed up to church that day when he could have just as easily not come at all. The OP is right. There is no set rules nor is it written in the bible that you need to show up in a pretty dress or a nice suit. These were implied by man not god.

Again, it's called etiquette. Would I give him a dirty look? Probably not, but there are people who would, and you, as a person, need to expect that. Why? Because you need to be aware of the perceptions of those around you, and don't get offended by them because you're just making yourself part of the problem.

You are giving an example of what this entire thread is about. You call him disrespectful because in your eyes, he didn't show up with others or dressed like others.

No, I'm calling him disrespectful for saying people need to be "grateful he came."

The fact that he still wanted and did go is in itself, an admirable trait. Remember,

"Let he without sin caste the 1st stone"

Which is great, but that's not the talking point so I don't know why you're bringing it up.

Just please admit that you are one of those people who judge for no reason, it'll save time.

No, and no.

Wearing Sweatpants to church isnt wrong, and was never stated that it was.

Again, it's not necessarily wrong, but you shouldn't expect people to look at you the same way they look at others, who actually put work into their appearance.

Snobby relogious people just made that up to look down at others. You are basically helping me prove that Religion cause unecessary judgement.

Really? Because I see you sating "snobby religious people," making an assumption about the people who dress nicely to Church. Look at that, you're judging people based on your own perceptions, just as they are.

I dont need to do things some other time just for the church.

Then you don't care.

If I have a college eaaay thats due that day so I can pass that class, Im doing the essay. Im not gonna miss an opportunity like that just to hear someting that is repeated over and over again every year.

Because procrastinating to the day before is totally cool.

You blame technology for new diseases? Lmao, you should be blaming biology.

Not entirely, although it is a fact that Radiation(which can come from Modern Technology) can lead to various cancers and diseases. I guess, I was partly right. hmm

Cancer has been around for thousands of years, and the cure for cancer is coming closer thanks to medical advancement. AIDS is lower that its peak it hit a couple of years ago, as for HIV and AIDS, the cure is coming closer. Human pollution has existed for the last 200+ years. And the countries that recycle the most are also the countries with the highest atheist rates. Africa has tons of charities giving people a chance to get education and clean water. Africa is only getting better.

Maybe so but in very rare cases. Although their were other diseases around that time but diseases like Cancers, Heart Diseases, Diabetes etc. weren't considered a major concern as they are now. The cure for Cancer will not come through any medical technology or medicine. Although there is a slim chance of it being cured, there are ways to prevent it and that is through change of lifestyle. In other words, stay away from Technology that releases Radiation, don't eat GM foods, contaminated drinks and live away from anything that has a good chance of causing excessive Pollution(e.g. motor vehicles, industrial factories etc.). There will be no cure for HIV also and Pollution hasn't existed as much as it has today. Charities and what not are not enough. The US alone can feed the whole World including Africa and Asia and still have enough to allow their own citizens to live. U_U

Well you can make your own purpose...

I don't see anything that wrong about believing in God but I see many things wrong about followig the Holly Books...

How do you make your own purpose. Any purpose you create by yourself will be superficial and will still not explain why you were created in the first place. Religion has the solutions to all of that and has it's own purpose which is to allow a person to live in the best way like a civilized human being and not like a retarded, incompetent lunatic. Holy Books are said to be God's words, so believing in God would mean that you would have to believe in anything and everything he has sent down. Now the only problem left is to find which path of all paths which God has provided is the right one. What I basically mean is to find which religion is the right one and I'm currently studying various religions myself. hmm

How so??????

Thank God I'm not Christian. It just made me chuckle. Lol

Pretty much every church has an unspoken standard for how people dress and act during service. so it's not limited to Christians.

Not for every answer but when it all comes down to it, their answer will go back to God in the end as the general reason for our existence. Yes there's a lot of them researching, but do they truly believe that there's another alternative to our existence besides a god? If so then there not that faithful are they?

Sure, there researching, but they still believe that the answers they find will lead to the existence of a God,and thats not what humanity needs atm, we need to find the real truth, and for that, an open mind is necessary

And true, finding the origins isnt the most important aspect of science but its very critical as well. That's also why we're on this thread is it not? To discuss if religion is a problem or not, hence why i'm debating the aspect of science that has to do with finding out our origins.

Simply said , till they make religion a problem .

and we can't say any Religion is in it's starting form , people make some rules for their benefits , some for keep the blind faith towards religion and some make religion as the source to justify wars .

It's not like , I'm pointing fingers at one religion , I'm saying it as overall but it's not religion itself , it's us humans make religion a problem in this world ,

And then we come down to the same answer: It isn't perfect, doesn't mean it's all bad, doesn't mean it's all good. And with the "new days, new rules" I said, it doesn't become a problem. Thus, there's not reason to disrespect them or insult them.

Who said the essay was given weeks ago? The proffesor could have given it to me that day, and I will do it if it helps pass my class. "etiquette"... Yes Yes, where does it say way we have to dress like thy? Again it doesnt, and you wxpect me to dress like others? Im not there to impress anyone, Im there to worship my God that I believe. Also quit with the assumpion that I dont care, you think automatically that I come in late or dont coe in means I dont. Which is completely wrong. Again, thank you for proving my point

God is intemporal and all good, if God really wrote that than it's absolute, the religion isn't supposed to change

Basicly it's not religion that gives values to humanity, it's humanity that gives values to religion, so in the end religion doesn't helo society in any way

There's a diference between faith and blind faith. If you have faith, it means you trust something, let's say, that answer, you believe it's correct. However, you'll still check it, not noly to learn more about it, but to confirm the actual truth. That doesn't mean they lack faith.

For exemple: I'm solving an integral: I believe that the method X is the best one to solve it. I believe in that method to solve that integral. But I don't just stand there and say: "Oh,cool then, next one". I test it.

Simply because they have a belief, doesn't mean they'll ignore their own work. They're researching to learn the truth about the origin of the universe, and they already believe in something. That doesn't mean that they'll ignore whatever they find because it's convenient for them.
Being religious doesn't equal being close minded.

In fact, when we are researching, we develop an hypothesis before. Every scientist hope that their hypothesis is correct(they'll find evidences that support it). However,t hat doesn't always happen. It's the same situation, only with different hypothesis. So why would the religious researches act so differently?

Alright then.

Who said the essay was given weeks ago? The proffesor could have given it to me that day, and I will do it if it helps pass my class.

You said, and I quote "I have a college eaaay thats due that day so I can pass that class." You're seriously telling me, your professor gave you an essay, on Sunday, that determined wether you passed or failed your class? Yeah, not buying it, never going to, stop trying to convince me.

"etiquette"... Yes Yes, where does it say way we have to dress like thy?

As I said, it's unspoken. Most social concepts are unspoken.

Again it doesnt, and you wxpect me to dress like others?

I don't expect you to dress like others, but I do expect you to be aware of how they'll perceive you. For the thousandth time.

Im not there to impress anyone, Im there to worship my God that I believe.

Then stop complaining about people not liking the way you show yourself. If you don't care, then don't use this situation as an argument for your case.

Also quit with the assumpion that I dont care, you think automatically that I come in late or dont coe in means I dont.

Not what I said at all.

people are the issue. All religion is is just a belief. People have also killed over race, ethnicity, sexuality, people will kill eachother over anything really. So if you were to say religion is a problem, then everything else is too. People is the problem

I don't see how that matters, really.

Besides, if you support your last statement, then you should also support this: "so in the end religious doesn't harm society in any way".

What I'm defendind here is simple: We shouldn't keep blaming religion for every problem we had, nor we should disrespect a person because he/she is religious. There is no problem with a person being religious, as long as he/she doesn't become a fanatic, as I defended earlier.
And I don't see how any of what you said could possibly give a good reason for we to act differently.

No, its not. Why would it be if u read quran or bible those books tell u to do good thing to win the heaven in the next worlds I think its totally opposite of what u wrote, if the religion says do good things and ppl do bad things why would the religion be the problem here, it is ppls rotten heads not religion oh and to ppl saying science is better then religion I mean what does science has to do with religion oh and even science can be used for bad things, better science better weapons better bombs so more war, there is no excuse to war nor religion nor science its the ppl itself who tend to do thing but use religion or other things as their shields.
