That's not even the worst part, they also want me to be a virgin till I'm 30 and married. They also want to arrange my marriage, which is creepy because lots of Sikhs choose their partners. Yes, I have a part time job being in a stand (like a lemonade stand) selling different kinds of foods. My college will all be payed by me, and with scholarships, and loans. I don't want my parents having any say in helping me, because they will use that as a reason to treat me like I'm a disgrace to Indians and like I'm their property.

I think it makes people end up fighting, and it represses people's sexualities, I'm straight and horny and just because I'm from a part in the world that has a lot of Sikhs, doesn't mean I should be a Sikh too.

Oh, you're Indian..that explains a bit. I despise Indians and pakistanis in general. (My gf is half indian, half pakistani and both of the sides of the family are repulsive. Culture and everything. so no random bigotry here. Just talking from my own experiences)

I don't blame you at all, not even the tiniest little bit What's even sadder is I would get called self hating if I said I don't agree with Indian religions, customs, etc. I'm not self hating at all, I just like critical thinking. I think I'd get beat up by my family just for saying Kidomaru is awesome, my parents would look at Kidomaru and think he's the devil or something.

Since when concept of 'Devil' is Indian? Anyway do what you want to do. Your parents seems exceptional case if you are going to get beat up for that. I don't see anyone giving any attention to such characters at all and I still live in India.

Reizon, thank you, this thread wasn't meant to cause any frustration or anger. I just want NB to know my story a little bit more, and if they're going through any family struggles, to know they're not alone. I know that I wouldn't be on this planet without my parents, and I thank them for that, but I had to cut the umbilical cord and school them in an argument. Once again, thank you
