Why should I listen to my parents?

You're not alone. Everyone near that age faces a similar problem. Your parents are in a transitional period. They don't want to loose you, but at the same time, you need to be let go and deep down, they want that too. I'd make some sort of compromise and/or have a really big talk about it. That should work. If not, you'll have to follow your heart. Tell them your dreams and aspirations. If they don't see it after you explain a plan or something, you might have to just leave. If they want you to college, I suggest ease it in. Do 2 years at a college close to home and slowly go away to the one you want to do. It gets harder if you want to join the army because you could die, but at the same time, you could die everyday. Just try to ease it all in and remember, you have your entire life ahead of you. Get moving, follow your heart, but take somewhat slow or slow enough for your parents to let you go.

The only thing I would disagree with is the taking it slow part, I got to get some excitement in my life and fast, I've always felt alone but if I don't go to a big university or the army I'll feel so down, I have to make drastic decisions to improve my mood and my emotional health imo, being an Indian atheist in an environment with radical highly religious old Sikhs isn't good for my health.

Parents tell their children off for many different reasons, but it all comes down to the fact that they care enough about you to even bother despite how they're treated.

I don't know what they're telling you off for exactly before they came into the disobedience bit, but I'm imaging that they only want you to learn your lesson from them and not from experience, because experience is probably the most brutal teacher out there.

And even if they're being unreasonable, then it helps you determine what you really want and teaches you to be more firm in your own beliefs (hopefully in a positive way). Also teaches patience and builds tolerance.

They're basically trying to make me into a stereotypical Indian Sikh that doesn't skate, doesn't bike, doesn't get bishes, doesn't listen to music beside Indian music, etc. They think I'll die from skating, biking, etc. because of accidents they hear about on the news. They think I'll get STD's if I hang around bishes. They also don't want me eating American food, only Indian food such as curry and some butter chicken, and naan bread. That isn't my style though, I'm a skater, bicyclist, atheist, and wannabe womanizer.

You sure bro? Sometimes I feel like I'm George Washington, and my pops is King George, like it's my destiny to be the way I am. I'm an atheist, skater, bicyclist, and wannabe womanizer. The issue here isn't that I don't want to listen to them, it's I literally can't, and it's too late for me to be anyone else but me. I'm not a Sikh, but they try to force me to be. They don't want me getting dat delicious college chick poon because they think I'll get STD's, but I'd rather get a STD then die a virgin.

Yes, I feel that way because I love danger, the thought of getting poon but getting an STD appeals more to me than dying a virgin because I feel like I'm strong enough mentally to be happy in life even with an STD. There's very few things that scare me in life, and I'm such a crazy dumbass, but I love being how I am because it makes me feel so alive. I love watching Jackass, and trying some of it out in real life because I want to see if I can survive. I love testing my limits, and I want to one day go to the coldest place on earth and walk around naked just to see if I can handle it. Even if this isn't the smartest way to live, it feels so good. I get that they may have more knowledge than me, but from what I see, all their knowledge is useless to me because it's either knowledge about India or Sikhism. I'm in America and it's 2014 now, so they got to get with the American way of life and the times.

We were fighting because they want to make my choices even after I graduate high school, and they want me to be a virgin till marriage stereotypical Sikh boy. I'm not a Sikh boy, I'm an atheist man tiger with raging hormones that wants to go to college and get fresh college chick poon.
