Who did more for their Country? Minato or Itachi?

first itachi wouldn't even be alive if it wasn't for minato. this in no brainer..

itachi was a mere puppet of the hokage during the slaughter. imo it was a fail to itachi to even execute his final mission.

lastly, minato produces the current naruto while itachi produces the current sasuke.

bottom line, minato didn't only do it for his village but ended up saving the world of shinobi aswell.

if itachi knew about madara during the slaughter and he wanted to save the village, why didn't he kill madara? instead he helped him gather jinchuurikis. is it possible he's ignorant about the fact that madara is evil? or was itachi being controlled?

Minato stopped 9 - Fox from destroying Konoha, if he didn't stop the 9 - Fox, Konoha would have been destroyed and possibly destroyed other Villages too that's if no one was able to stop the 9 - Fox..

Itachi , what exactly did Itachi even do? Killed his whole clan except himself and Sasuke. Was it to prevent War? Kept an eye on the Uchiha clan. Uchiha taking over Konoha, attacking other Villages, could the other Kages possibly stop the Uchiha clan? Some would soon go against each other and start killing each other sooner or later. I could be wrong.

I'd probably have to go with Minato.

Itachi sacrificed not only his loved once (something no other previous hokage have done), but also sacrificed himself. Instead of being acknowledged, was put in the bingo book instead to be hunted down and killed.

Agreed,More outdoing then stoping a fox and puting it into your child.Instead Itachi sacrificed everything including his clan and his parents in order to prevent a war.While all Minato did was stop kurma,save the village,and stored it into his child while dieing.

I was preventing a war and killing everyone you know and loved>Saveing one village and making your child a jinchuriki.

but forreal minato. not only did he seal himself in naruto to help him he also sealed his mom in him to help him get the nine tales chakra.
also he saved konoha from the nine tales and tobi....also we dnt kno any of his other good deeds so we cnt really guess the full extent of his rightousness

Minato did more for the village, Itachi sacrificed more. Itachi is a more interesting character because of the sacrifices but ultimately Minato did more than him in terms of usefulness to the village.

I think its itachi because he was forced to kill his parents and his friends.On other hand even though minato sacrifice a lot in the end he get his reputation to be called a hero but itachi even in the end considered as murder and rogue ninja

Itachi sacrificed more, he had to sacrifice his whole clan, his own image, and lead his brother down a dark path.

Minato did more though, if Tobi and the Kyuubi had been allowed to run unchecked there would be no more Konoha. those 2 tbbs alone would have wrecked the village. and he enabled Naruto to save the village again, and probably the world next.

Pretty much this is why i think Itachi sacrificed more..All the hokages have died protecting the village, but how many of them had to kill their own in order to do it...

no this should'nt b abt the existence of leaf village, bt should b abt the sacrifices they made for their country. No doubt minato sacrificed a lot, bt jst bcoz the village was at greater danger due to d fox at that time dsn't mean that minato sacrificed more........ I think itachi sacrificed more, coz he nt only killed his entire clan, bt also agreed to keep quiet nd b portrayed as a criminal nd was hunted down fr his entire life, moreover he decided to die by his brother's hand so that his brother could live in peace nd unlock a new power that wud protect him, so itachi sacrificed everythng that was dear to him, to protect his village.......

they both sacrificed thier lives for the village in the end but i think the main point that this comes down to is itachi knowingly sacrificed his own reputation i guess u would say...he turned himself into a criminal who would be hunted by his own village...itachi wins this arguement hands down

I would say Itachi.. It's hard killing all of your clan for the embetterment of others. That for me is the biggest sacrifice.

Sasuke didn't want to slaughter everyone in the village, he just wanted to take revenge on the elders and especially Danzo.

Itachi because it was on way more of a personal level, and than to continue to serve his country after killing his family, lover, friends etc. And than wanted his brother to make the uchiha name great again. Yes what minato did was great, but he died and didn't give as much time to the leaf if you understand what i mean..

I see, well Itachi did more but the quality of Minato's work far outweighs Itachi's quantity.

remember it is sasuke who makes naruto stronger, he is constantly competing with him, even getting stronger so he can bring sasuke back. no sasuke equals a less motivated and weaker naruto, who was able to save the village. not only that, but sasuke is only a "threat" to the village, he hasn't done anything yet, lol. oh yeah....kill a hokage that nobody trusted and had a corrupt way of doing things, not only that, but his plan was to keep naruto contained, in which naruto wouldn't have been able to use his strength to defend the village. next one please? xd

Itachi killed his family and his whole clan as well as his relatives just for the village. Minato sacrificed him self. It is harder to kill your parents and clan then to sacrifice yourself

As***** kill ur own mom, dad and kill everyone in the family by own hands is the greatest sacrifice. He got no fame but hatred from his own clan and his own village . Minato was the hokage and was his responsibility to save the village, he got a statue and respect . Itachi got none. If fuc**** anyone says anything more abt itachi "I Will slay him"

Why is everyone keep saying Itachi did more because he had to kill his clan? Do any of you remember one of the major thing in Naruto? "Bonds" Kishi has bonds everywhere in Shippudden. I don't know if any of you remember Sasuke telling Naruto and Sakura that he cut his bond with them, we see this when Sasuke was going to stab Naruto and chidori Sakura. Now what makes you think Itachi didn't sever his bond from everyone in his clan except Sasuke? Have any of you remember Sasuke's flashback when Itachi was accused for killing Shisui by 3 other Uchihas? Itachi was cold towards them and talked bad about the Uchiha clan, then his dad came. Now my question to you is why would a double agent draw attention to himself? Itachi grew up seeing many deaths and became a pacifist, this alone would have him dislike his clan for wanting to start a civil war. Plus it was stated Itachi alone couldn't kill the whole uchiha clan, Tobi helped him do so.

Minato stopped the cloud ninjas from kidnapping Kushina and gaining their 3rd Jinchuuriki, this kept the balance of power even among villages. Creating the rasengan paved the road for Naruto to save the village. Some say none of the Hokages would sacrifice their family yet I remember Minato sacrificed Kushina to save the future savior of konoha and the ninja world (Naruto), Stopped Tobi from not only destroying Konoha but all Tobi's moon eye plan. Minato played a huge part in the 3rd war also, plus he sealed his chakra in Naruto that stopped Naruto from releasing Kurama and destroying Konoha even more than Pain. Yes Itachi stopped Tobi from attacking Konoha but Tobi only wanted Kurama, Minato stopped Tobi from trying to get Kurama while Itachi postponed it for 16 years.

Fact Is Itachi killed a clan he severed his bonds with with the help of Tobi, postponed Tobi's moon eye plan for 9 years and you say he did more? Itachi left the village and took the blame so the Uchiha name wasn't tarnish but that doesn't help the village since the Uchihas are dead. Only time Itachi showed feeling for his parent was during Tobi's attack before the Uchihas planning to take over Konoha. And No Itachi wasn't the one who told the elders about the Uchihas, the elders knew only the Sharingan could control the fox so who do you think they suspected. They put Itachi on the case because he's an Uchiha, was the leader of the Anbu black ops and Danzo took advantage of Itachi's pacifist nature of wanting peace.
