I think it's getting more obvious chapter by chapter that obito isn't going to die anytime soon or even at all. It's quite possible that he'll survive the War and return to Konoha, specially after it was established that it was Madara who completely took Obito to the dark path. Obviously...

Obito didn't hunt the kyuubi last because he was scared of itachi, he needed to hunt it last either way. That's why he made the pact with Itachi so he can further use him until he needs to attack the Leaf later on when the 8 tailed beasts are captured.

Kishi couldn't have made it any more obvious. Sasuke's arrogance is going to be his biggest downfall when he faces Naruto later on. This chapter was obvious proof that Sasuke needs a butt kicking from Naruto to get back on the right path. Sasuke's good? lel nah, not yet.
