Both men and women find themselves attracted to something that seems different from the norm....if everyone's "normal" looking then everyone's average and it gets boring after a while. That's why people who stand out get attention.

Just live the moment.....some people want to be noticed and never will. At least you have the luxury of appearance.

On a serious note, coming from a woman, we can be just as superficial as men it's not fair to say it's only guys. Just because they may be attracted to you physically doesn't mean that's the only reason why. Like someone else said, just have confidence in yourself and ignore the idiots.

I understand where you're coming from so I don't really take offense to being called superficial, but nonetheless, you shouldn't be so shallow to assume that all guys are superficial. After all, you made a thread that says that you hate that trait in men.

As for the traits that I look for in a woman, I can't completely say that physical attraction does not play a role in who I'm interested in, but it definitely is not the only trait that I look for. In my opinion, the two least attractive qualities a woman could have are being unintelligent and having a bad personality/attitude. In other words, personality, intelligence, etc. can make a girl more attractive for me, while I could never have a relationship with a woman that is an idiot or is not personable.

As for recommendations...don't change a thing. Some of the coolest girls I've known were goth (granted some of the weirdest girls I've known have been, too), and slutty girls are overrated. Again, it comes down to personality, and if you have to change yourself dramatically to make somebody else happy, its probably not worth it.

Meh you cant really do this topic justice in this space but if youre really interested, do read into evolutionary psychology on this issue. Anyways briefly, sexual attraction is generally not something we can control, it is rooted in visceral psychological drives chiseled by tens of thousands of years of evolution in the primitive environments of our ancestors (its purpose to maximize reproduce success).

Males are more "superficial" than females because males have generally been the resource collectors (i.e. hunters and whatnot) and the dominant ***, for the male in pre-history, a partners personality was not as important as her fertility (a "curvy" body indicates fertility). Females, on the other hand, had to consider a partners ability for resource collection (yes this is why females are attracted to financially wealthy men but not so much vice versa) and because of the burden of children, they had to be much more selective in mate selection (i.e. they had to take into account their partners capacity for empathy, faithfulness etc etc).
