It's exactly what I've said it would be since we saw this panel:

His plan is to use the fruit and create a new world. One that functions according to his vision of perfect reality.

For that, he really doesn't need anyone to be alive.

You think he needs the fruit to accomplish his goal?

That's interesting. however i doubt it's possible for sasuke to have control over IT. First, I think the this rinnegan eye odds needed and also on a basic level he is not the one who cast the genjustu so I don't think he can intervene and control it, right?

Well that's yet to be seen. I mean sure he didn't cast it but it's obvious that he has the exact eye Kaguya has. I think that Kishi gave it to him for a reason, don't you think?

It's for sure a possibility, I'm just trying to make sense out of it. That would mean naruto is not even needed to release IT then which I'm not sure about. I'm also not sure if he has the same eye since he has like a limit when he uses it but you may be right.

Well limited ability or not, it certainly isn't something that was chosen by chance. As for Naruto's role, I believe that Sasuke alone does not have the power to break it, however, because of his eye he can still have access to people's mind and alter them in a way.

Interesting idea, to get the fruit he would probably need to re-summon the God Tree though since Madara absorbed it and it is presumably sealed with Kaguya once again.

Last we saw, a Juubi Jin must summon the God Tree.

Sasuke would need to be Juubi Jin to get the fruit, which is actually easily within his realm of possibilities.

It is indeed a possibility however since sasuke seems determined to get rid of the tailed beasts, I doubt he will become the jin and keep them alive. But you have a different view on it so would you mind clearing it up again here lol?

And yea it is true that one would need to be a juubi jin to bring out the tree again and consume the fruit if one wanted I think.

Ye,s why not? The most cruel thing though would be, if he decides that he can't defeat Naruto, to release with him the IT after having the people inside of it brainwashed, making them in this way hostile towards Naruto and so his enemies, enemies that he can't kill.

Ofc, this is a rather radical idea and I doubt that Kishi has the guts to go all- out and distort things so much. Still, it would have been very interesting.

Yea that could also be another way. I think it would be hard for sasuke to do it tho if they end up fighting but it would be interesting to see that the people that trust Naruto so much now, come out against him after he did all this to save them.

But(haha I know I go back and forth) I don't see how the manga will end if that was the case. Naruto wouldn't really be able to change people's mind himself.

Sure I'll clear it up. This panel is how I always think of Sasuke (also from the first Naruto chapter I've ever read):

In my opinion, if Sasuke becomes overpowered by Naruto at any point, he will do whatever it takes to gain more power. As long as this is a possible move from Sasuke, I think he would quickly sell out his ideals in order to have a chance to win the fight.

Sure I'll clear it up. This panel is how I always think of Sasuke (also from the first Naruto chapter I've ever read):

In my opinion, if Sasuke becomes overpowered by Naruto at any point, he will do whatever it takes to gain more power. As long as this is a possible move from Sasuke, I think he would quickly sell out his ideals in order to have a chance to win the fight.

Yea again I personally don't really think he would do it but it makes sense and I wouldn't be surprised. Even though sasuke has been through a lot of changes that has remained constant throughout the manga. Like the example you gave about him getting itachi's eyes after saying no bc he needed more power and was going blind.

His actions definitely lack logic.
In terms of what he's planning, I think he wants to bring Naruto into a weakened state than use Genjutsu on him to control him. He'd kill the 5 kages under the IT and then use Naruto to have him combine seals and begin the end of the IT. I imagine he'd then also kill Naruto and then tell everyone else who emerges "what happened" (aka Sasuke was the Savior). Actually maybe he'll also seal Naruto to prevent further transmigration. He'd probably say how the mismanagement of the Bijuu led to this so he has locked them away forever and will become a strong leader. Whoever doesn't agree with him gets Genjutsu'd/taken care of permanently. Then he begins to revive his Uchiha Clan through "get screwed by Lord Sasuke Today" promotions.

It would be VERY repetitive lol. The only thing that could make it different is if he gets the idea to bring the fruit into play. And maybe he doesn't use the Nunboku Sword as horribly as Obito Lol
