'I'll destroy you' --> I'll completely erase you, not just damage you, so watch where you're stepping.
This is also incorrect in two ways. They're referring to the island as an object because they don't know that it is alive, yet the example you used 'I'll destroy you' --> I'll completely erase you' is in reference to a living being. When destroy is used in reference to a person, the definition changes to: defeat (someone) utterly. So the word "destroy" could not be in reference to the island as a sentient being while maintaining the intent of completely erasing it, but rather defeating it. |
