To emphasize why his logic doesn't work for anything.

Read the entire quote. I'm not denying I said there are negative aspects to Christianity. I'm denying that I said so while addressing his logic.

No point in continuing since you'll just keep rewording the same thing and not admit that you're wrong.

This creates a link between morality and the biological make-up of a person's brain.

I'm sorry but

Unless you can prove to me that we were just born with the innate ability to just do good things

Morality is taught doggy. I guess the better question I should have asked since you don't read for anything is where morals orginiated from and I'd like to see scientific evidence as well

Okay? I never said morality wasn't taught. That doesn't mean that mankind didn't come up what is considered modern-day morals.

Dang, no more straws for my Capri-Sun :bdpf:

Why do you always state the bold when I never make the narration of you doing so?

You made the claim, so you gotta prove it, if you have to concede, just do so and don't drag this out any longer

I don't hate Riker, I don't hate anyone. His judgement is just a little bit clouded sometimes :sigar:

Religion/Religious has grown into a word that carries heavy negative connotations. Its sad really. I know one thing people think about it is "fire, brimstone, judgemental, illogical, dumb, dreamer(with negative connotation), ignorant, stick in the mud..etc." I am a Christian myself and have come across this a lot. Most of the time it is Christianity which is spotlighted when this word comes up despite the vast amounts of religion.

Judgemental-If people say it enough then it must be true right. It is now a running gag that Christians are very judgemental people. Well yes and no..and I'd even go with no all the way, but I'm a bit biased. Our religion actually asks us to share our faith. Sharing our faith is actually the highest form of love you can receive from a Christian because that only means they are trying to save you because they think you can be saved or are worth saving. Again view it from the Christian perspective. It is similar to if you saw someone about to commit suicide and then you jump in and stop them from committing said suicide. Now would you just stand by and watch someone commit suicide simply because "that's what they wanted to do" or would you "intrude" on their lives and try to save them. Yeah, before you say its not the same thing..it is...you just have to think in the Christians/insert religion perspective.
To reiterate If a Christian tries to convert you they

1. Are fulfilling their duty as a Christian because we are actually supposed to share the faith
2. Acting out of love rather than what you think is mere judging.

Again, half the time its actually not judging. We're just sharing our faith. (So you don't want us to intrude on your beliefs) Well according to our religion we should. Say we are annoying but its not really a judging thing. We speak according to our religion so if we say don't do A because of B its because we're speaking from what our religious views are and not about you as a person. I often tell my friends they shouldn't get drunk, but I never think I'm better than them or that they are horrible heathens.

As with anything there are a few nuts in the group. If you make a practice of judging many out of few then I'm certain you sympathize with racists right? Plus many of the people calling Christians judgemental are equally or even more rude/judgemental then the Christians/religios folks they prosecute.

Illogical

This one actually makes me laugh. Think about it. Scientists really don't know as much as we give them credit for. We accept them as logical views thus they must be right...wrong. Just think about this. After a big explosion a perfect sized and aged sun with a spherical "design" is just a perfect distance from another spherically "designed" sphere that jus happens to have the proponents for life. Life just so happens to form on this planet along with various complex systems like photosynthesis, carbon cycle, water cycle (to replenish our resources), humans are even more complex.. I mean we can go on forever about the brain and dna. I could look at something as simple as a sandal and everyone would agree it had some sort of design thus a designer, but something as complex as life and the universe is an accident? Okay. Moreover, even if you believe in the Big Bang theory how did all of this matter suddenly give us personality and the ability to think. I can mash up matter all day in a lab but its suddenly not going to start having a personalilty on its own. Hell we even have to "design" robots to emulate human speech let alone emotion. Never can we just get all the parts for a robot and hope it suddenly starts to feel on its own. This is because we aren't an accident. We have a soul.

Second from a statistical standpoint in a win/lose scenario religion is the most logical choice. If I am wrong about Christianity and I die then guess what...nothing happens. If I'm right and I believe in Christianity I get the ultimate reward of heaven, but if I choose to not believe and its real then I get the ultimate loss. SO you see logically you have everything to gain and nothing to lose. Oh but I know what you're thinking. If I have to follow Christian rules then I'll be missing out.

Missing out on what?
Okay don't get drunk...alright name all the bad things that happen while under the influence
*** before marriage. First a sin does not guarantee hell and second sleeping around can result in problems
(these are the two main things I hear about when people talk about missing out. There are other rules that are mainly for your own good but these are the two I am often confronted with by friends.)

Long post that nobody will read but maybe one person will read and see something they never thought of before.

Exactly!, point is we humans don't Much About our universe or even our own planet to make idiotic comments such as saying "There is No God".

I'm sorry, but this part of your this portion of your comment is a horrendous argument. It's as if you are using the "Pascal's Wager" argument. I'm sorry, but Pascal's Wager is not a convincing reason for a non-religious person to become religious. Why? Pascal's Wager is predicated on the fact that there is a clear cut dichotomy between being religious and being an atheist. In other words, you either have a choice between believing in a single God, or disbelieving in him. Reality is not so straightforward. There are other religions besides Christianity like Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Hinduism, Jainism etc(as you know) Each religion has non-negligible differences with the other. By following one religion to the strict letter of the law, you are more than likely disobeying the rules of another religion and may possibly go to hell under that religion's rules. So you see, "statistically speaking"(I use quotations since it's horrible to mingle statistics with religion) it's not "more logical" or " much safer" for an atheist to suddenly follow your religion, unless you can prove beyond any reasonable doubt that your religion is the right one and all the others are wrong.

I will say though, that besides this part of your post, the rest was very good.

So, when you, a lifetime christian die, what will you say to Allah when he asks you why you followed the wrong religion?

The Pascals wager argument is a false dichotomy, because it claims that the only options are either No God or The Christian God. It fails to take into account the existance of other religions. There is still a lose situation for the Theist.

What would you say to allah when he asks why you followed nothing? Lel thats even worse. When you clearly only looked for one evidence only and ignored all others .

Yes, I know Allah is just a different word for God. But it's more often used in Islam than Christianity, and you got the point of the statement. I could have just as easily said Thor, or the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

And as for what I would say to any hypothetical deity is "I did not follow any faith because none of them were able to satisfactorally account for observable facts. I also had no definitive evidence that any of them were credible. Also, Yahweh, what's the deal with Hinduism? Why would you allow false religions to start up in your absence?" At that point, I would probably punch it.

Ghahahah . You would be speechless. And too afraid to say anything. Also the quran has tons and i mean tons of evidence and 0 gaps (unlike christianity) It known about science facts when no one in that century has discovered them. And when science found out about that . They showed them that quran already known about this even before any human has found out about it . Lol and actually my religion agrees with science. Thank god

Why would I be afraid of an ethereal sky daddy? Why are theists so hung up on how sh*t my pants frightened of their God when I die anyway?

You didnt respond to the last part but never mind

Why? Wouldnt you be afraid of something that you have never ever seen? Big and mighty. Glowing with light. The thoughts will get to you anyhow. *they were right..oh no oh no oh no!* and not to mention the sight of hell.

There's a place for religion in this world but it doesn't click for everyone and nor should it have to.

Fun fact, you didn't respond to the last part either. I didn't answer about the Quran because I don't know much about it. Just take it as read that it's B.S.

So, why are theists so hung up on how scary their God is?
