All this gushing over Kishi's mistake or the joy that the so called "predictors" are expressing right now aside (for the moment). I am blown that people are calling this the best chapter yet. Yes, a huge plot point was revealed today-or not, argue what you will- and yes, this has been long anticipated, BUT, the fact that for me, at least, there was essentially no text throughout the entire chapter really, really, really, really bums me the f*ck out.
I want plot development...and not just in images. I wanted dialogue. I flipped through that chapter in two minutes. I'm pissed.
That said, this is how I see it all: To my knowledge there has been no mention to exactly how long the third ninja war lasted. What we know for certain, is that Jiyaira spent three years training Konan, Yahiko, and Nagato and when he left the war was still going on. In fact, it seems to have lasted well into their young adulthood; see Nagato and Yahiko's confrontation with Hanzo, in which Yahiko dies. (I believe there was mention of the war still continuing at that point). It seems that Obito, Kakishi, and Rin were approximately the same age as Jiraiya's students. We also don't know exactly when the nine tails attacked Konoha, just that it was sixteen years prior to the current war. Thus, potentially giving Obito time to mature into what we saw in his fight with Minato.
Another point that is known for sure, is a long haired person that looks an awful lot like Madara, controlled the Mizukage and approached Kisame. Though, we did not see his face, he simply had the same hair and armor as Madara. It also seems to fit that at the time of their meeting the third ninja war was still going on.
Also, Madara admits to have gathered Senju DNA and awakened the Rinnegan before his death and we know the Rinnegan has the power to bring those who are dead back to life.
In all likelihood, and to which direction I think Kishi may be headed, Madara restored or saved Obito, but Obito having been injured, used Senju DNA to repair the half of his body that had been crushed. Because, the way I understand it, the Rinnegan can restore life, but it would not be able to restore the type of damage Obito received along with it (maybe thats a hole). Obito being a young impressionable mind, perhaps even an outcast among his own clan, he was an ideal subordinate for Madara who perhaps was nearing his own end. Perhaps he even gave him some of his own power.
In Sasuke's fight with Danzo, once he has been defeated and before he commences his sealing jutsu, Tobi descends upon Danzo and Madara-like armor can be seen underneath (this is in the anime btw). This has puzzled me for a while, but I feel it could make sense if there is in fact some connection between Madara and Obito. A connection that perhaps goes beyond master and student, like say, if Madara had given Obito a part of his Chakra or merged with him in some way.
I dont know if I even care about this theory, but its awfully annoying when people try and piece together wild theories in which there is little basis or contradicts easily addressable points in the story line.
