sand is an insulator,so it's not going through it easily. Anyhow one or 2 sand walls would block it,or gaara could just use a sand clone in place of himself. Gaara's sand has blocked far worse than that.

What .. lightning's heat softens the sand which then allows Raiton which has tremendous piercing properties to penetrate it .. And he wont have time do to its tremendous speed

kakuzu's lightening isnt natural,and thus dosent hve that much heat,when it was blocked by kakas6i's raikirithe heat created was only enough to burn his gloves,and those were 2 lightening spears.

Also heat from amaterasu,c3,joki boy's explosion(which was hot enough to melt the gold gaara hid inside the sand) didnt do anything when he compressed his sand to defencive walls. I doubt gian's heat will do much.

Gian isnt fired instantly,it builds up first,ino saw it and ran at choji and shika to get out of there. Gaara is also a sensor too,so he can detect the buildup within the mask. Gaara switched himself with a sand clone in the time it took lee to blink,so i think he is fast enough to do it.

....Lightning melts sand .. i dont know what too tell you its just how it is, it had to build up due to the fact that it was firing 2 lightning bolts .. it does not take that long.. And Kakashi's Raikiri absorbed Gian, along with its heat .. which was then conducted into the gloves .. incinerating them had he not been wearing gloves his hands would of most likely been burnt to a crisp

While I admit it depends on the level of katon used, fire isnt a reliable counter to Gaaras sand. His raiton Mask isnt taking care of Gaaras large scale Sand attacks.

The reason why raiton works is because it heats up the sand softening it while delivering a tremendous piercing attack ( as most rations are) Gian being one of the most potent raiton's when it comes to piercing should have no trouble breaking through the sand especially when combined with Katon and Fuuton, and im not saying it stops the sand im saying it would kill Gaara before he can create all his sand .. however Katon+fuuton+raiton .. is large enough that it can halt the momentum of his vast quantities of sand and rip through it

If deidaras clay bombs could travel within gaaras sand, whats stopping kakuzus tendrils from doing the same? And attacking gaara much as they did kakashi prior to yamatos intervention?
