That's mental, not related to actual combat. He was older than Madara and had a matured Sharingan when he accomplished said feats. Madara was younger and didn't have Sharingan at all when he accomplished those feats.

Itachi is powerful but let's not overrate him. He excelled in certain areas when compared to the rest, but when it comes to battle and battle alone Madara has him beat by a landslide regardless of having more power ups.
