Is sarutobi equally to blame for the Uchiha Genocide

If you're going to blame someone, blame Tobi. Danzo and the Elders thought they were behind the Kyuubi attack, which is why the Uchiha's were distanced from the village in the first place. That's the reason they didn't trust them, and set up the Police Force so the Uchiha's would feel that they were trusted.

I think they were planning a coup because they felt like they weren't trusted, and were being treated unfairly.

Hiruzen tried his best, although his best didn't seem that good. He just couldn't make anything big out of it, because he didn't want the village to know that one of the strongest clans were planning on attacking them. Imagine what would happen if the innocent villagers would have found out the Uchiha we're planning on attacking. Not to mention, Hiruzen BELIEVED the Uchiha's were innocent, it was his council that thought otherwise.

And, if you use real words that usually has people take you seriously.

Edit: And as others said, involving them in the council and etc would not have changed anything. They were going to revolt because they were basically thrown to the outskirts of the village. And he probably would have agreed with them sooner or later, because the Uchiha's were beyond negotiations. It was either kill the clan, or allow them to revolt, which would cause a civil war, and would allow other countries to attack Konoha.

Lets see sir.. Uchiha didn't hate the clans in the village. And they weren't power hungry like Madara was. BUT let me ask you this what happens if you SEGREGATED just because your village's LEADERS think that a uchiha was behind a attack that your clan had nothing to do with.. The hokages job is to protect the village at all costs, Killing the uchiha clan saved both the village and the fire country.

Ninja must make hard decisions, The villages always come first.

If they knew, do you think he would have been on the council for so long, and then become the Hokage? I don't think Hiruzen knew, and he couldn't exactly punish Danzo for telling Itachi to kill the Uchiha's.

Like I said, Hiruzen would have given in eventually because the Uchiha's were beyond negotiations. It was either kill a clan, or have them revolt, then every single one of them dies, and then since it would be a civil war the other countries would have used that opportunity to attack Konoha. Hiruzen did his best, but since the Uchiha's were beyond talking, what else did you want him to do?

Remember as Hokage you have to do what's best for the village, which is why there is a council. The council keeps the Hokage from making wrong decisions, or bad decisions, that could harm the village.

I think tobi explained this already, only Danzo, Sarutobi, the other 2 consular knew about the Genocide.

The uchiha could of talked this out with Hiruzen or the elders, but they didn't.
They could of slowly gained the leaf's trust back, but they didn't
They chose to start a War.

The uchiha posed a threat to the village, Thus they were wiped out.

Simple as that really.
