On a relevant note, Kamui at it's full potential is the single most haxxed jutsu outside of god tier. With that being said, the winner of this match is very circumstantial imo. If Kakashi pulls out MS before Gai goes 7G, it's Kamui GG. If Kakashi allows Gai to go 7G and in full movement speed, Kakashi is getting obliterated.
Genjutsu was the entire reason why Gai even changed his fighting style against Sharingan into dodging eyesight. It was obviously one of Kakashi's usual tactics against him if Gai feared it enough to change his style entirely
OT: Manga portrayed Kakashi as his superior all throughout the manga indicated even by Garp himself in the war arc that Kakashi was always a step ahead of him and no amount of feats are going to discredit manga portrayal(considering feats are arbitral depending on each other's mind anyway). Only moment where Kakashi acknowledged to have been surpassed by Gai is after seeing 8th gate and even then he got relayed again by DMS Kakashi coming later

You can also argue that Kakashi was shown on par with 6th Gate Gai in war arc. I know it doesn't mean that they are equal in all out battle but it shows they are at least in same tier where Kakashi doesn't need to attack head on.

7th Gate Gai = MS Kakashi tier wise in their influence in a battle. If they fight against eachother, Kakashi can beat up to 6th gate Gai, but gets smacked when the 7th comes out.

That's irrelevant. Out of shape based on the fact that he couldn't climb a cliff? Sasuke's statement was based on the analysis of the two Jonins. Gai's statement as well and if Kakashi being out of shape was the case for Gai being stronger, it would have been outright noted there when Sasuke made that statement. Face it, Gai was stronger and it was outright stated considering the fact that Gai who knew Kakashi fully well stated he was the stronger one condition not being the case. Kishi even hyped Gai not to lose against anyone in the Akatsuki.

2. many of your links where Kakashi was superior are when there were not fully grown adults and when Gai didnt have 7 gate. Of course kid and teen Kakashi would be stronger than Gai. Kakashi had Sharingan and could use Ninjutsu and Genjutsu while Gai could only use Taijutsu.
Lee with 17 years cant open 7 gate despite training hard his whole life. in those scans you posted Gai is 14 and below years old so he didnt have 7 gate at that time.
