My explanation:
Madara stated that Hashirama was the strongest shinobi that ever lived. Although he did say that, that does NOT take into account all the shinobi that came after.
Hiruzen was stated in the very early manga chapters that he was the strongest Hokage, and even considered the "God of Shinobi." A title that only he, and Rikudou Sennin had.

Guys going for Hiruzen (like me) don't say anything about Hiruzen's prime because those going for Hashirama will just use it against you. Also votes mean nothing the votes for this thread poll could have came from anywhere; people actually apart of this thread, trolls, a friend of someone who is apart of this thread just voting for their friends side, or a person apart of this thread who made another account just to vote 2x(stupid but true). Don't bring false or unknowably made facts to the table like; Hashirama vs Hiruzen, the 2 never fought independently against 1 another, Hiruzen's prime, I know the shinobi say alot about it but there isnt a flashback or anything to cite, Hashirama having the ability to contol bijuu naturally because he's a decendent of SO6P, he used scrolls that he obtained to learn the ways of how to contol bijuu. Well it's a tough one, but considering that the naruto episodes say that the first hokage handled the bijus like pets and that he even distributed them to the other nations it certaintly does say a lot, plus uchiha madara states that the hirashima had a far better healing jitsu than tsunade's he would be impossible to kill. But where i will give in is on taijitsu, where sarutobi beat both edos in his old age and in the number of jitsu's mastered by the third.

As I stated earlier the whole Hashirama controlled bijuu shouldn't be used. Yes its true Hashirama did control some, not all, the bijuu, it was only because of the scrolls he had obtained, scrolls that he had hidden away. If Hiruzen too had been allowed to see these hidden scrolls he too would have possessed the jutsu to control bijuu. Hashirama wouldn't have seemed so epic then now would he. If the "control bijuu" stat was stricken from the record what would make Hashirama so epic then?

Hashirama learned to control bijuu from scrolls, I doubt if that's in his DNA, and Izanagi is an Uchiha technique what does Hashirama have to do with that? I agree with that part about him being of SO6P lineage though

Go read up on how Hashirama came to being able to control bijuu, he obtained the scrolls, learned sealing jutsu from Mito, used what he had learned to control multiple bijuu, distributed the bijuu to other newfound villages, hid the scrolls away, died, then decades later Orochimaru stole the scrolls. Who do you think sealed away Kurama when Madara attack Konohagakure the 1st time? To answer that question it was Mito who sealed Kurama within herself. Once Mito died it was passed down/sealed within Kushina. Once Kushina died it was sealed within Naruto. All of Kurama's jinchuuriki have been from the Uzumaki clan thus far. He is controlling it through his power it is seen by yamato being able to control bijuu. Yamato only the first power and no knowledge of these scrolls. Stop crying because the only fact you have for hiruzen is one line from the manga.

How can HiRuzen be stronger than Hashirima when Hiruzen couldn't even help out the fourth hokage take down one failed beast which was the nine tails while Hashirima could take all of the tailed beasts by himself. Ponder this thought for a moment

Yes he did help.. He pushed the 9 tails out of the village... and lets please remember that hashirama only supressed their chakra, he didnt go 1vs5 tailed beast and BEAT them.. And he did this IN HIS PRIME while hiruzen helped defend the leaf from 9 tails at an OLD AGE..
It was turned into a versus thread by posters, but it was oringinally just suppose to be a vote of who people thought was stronger.. Just opinions.. Now its become a war:sy:

In my opinion there's no point saying Hiruzen was better "in his prime". We never saw his prime and what we did see of him was no where near the level of Hashirama so therefore I think you've got to say Hashirama was stronger.
