1. I already mentioned in the original post how it could be used to attack, nothing new there. Defensively it's good at close range, and against people, not sand.

2. I've addressed this as well. If he uses the bird it will be crushed just like Deidaras was, and if he uses the chameleon Gaara still has sand sensing to find it's location. Summons are the least of the problems, along with Asura.

3. I know how it works, but it's not going to help him much against Gaara. If he chooses to recover his body then he'll be defenseless while he's inside the King of Hell. This is not Pain, there will be no other Paths around to protect him. Also, since it's the real Nagato we're talking about I highly doubt he'll keep reviving the summons if they're just going to keep getting crushed. Besides, Gaara can seal the summons so that they can't be revived.

4. This has been addressed as well, re-read the thread. It's just a theory o' mine bro don't hate. lol

5. If Gaara is grounded with his sand he will not be able to pull him in, thus not allowing the Human Path to extract Gaaras soul.

6. Nagato using Universal Pull to steal Gaaras gourd? And you thought I was crazy. I've already explained how Gaara can survive Chibaku Tensei, you haven't provided any reasons as to why he wouldn't. Posting CT >>>> Gaara's defense doesn't mean anything without the evidence to back it up.

7. Your stupid crab can get the battlefield as wet as he wants. lol Gaara can still take to the skies. A little bit of rain ain't gonna stop the sand man.

1. that's what im saying, his missles/lasers can use it as a diversion.. addition to his wide range of attacks and as a defense as well.

2.you're talking as if nagato would use his summon 1by 1. nagato can summon all of it at once and while gaara is busy crushing those nagato would have sneaked behind him and suck his life out. his summons can move independently you know, they will not sit there and let them be crushed by sand. if nagato flies witht he bird and he gaara uses sand to crush it, of course nagato would defend and uses shinra tensei to gaara..

3. where are you getting he is defenseless while at it? lol we all see that he can use it as a regular summon, added sets of eyes.

4. well you're theory doesn't make sense, what else will gaara use to control sand?lol

5.as i've said this is effctive in conjuction with other attack its more like of nagato's killing blow

6. check how he pulled out the nail frm the wood, you'll realize what im saying. gaara would be crushed inside CT core, unlike earth's gravity the core has a much greater gravitational pull. gaara would get crushed if he was caught in it. rocks boulders at 2x or even 3x the earth's gravity>gaara's sand.


7. it was already shown that oil was able to make it hard to control, and it wasn't little rain.what will happen at gaara's sand if it was washed away with the crab's bubbles?lol. see manga again.

here it was shown that mizukage's attack was able to affect gaara's sand. multiply what mizukage used, nagato's rain+crab summon can definitely affect gaara's sand. and don't give bullcrap that gaara can fly coz he ain't gonna fly high above the clouds his sand would literally melt in heavy rain pour.

Please read first.

I'm going to go trough each path and ability that Nagato has, and show you how Gaara can possibly counter all of them, and defeat a live Nagato WITHOUT GEDO MAZO. Not all of these points are concrete, and some of these are theories. Whether you agree or not is up to you.

1. Asura path - This is probably the least threatning path to Gaara. As long as he can keep his distance he poses no threat besides the missiles which can be disposed of by either blocking, or changing it's course with the sand. Whatever this path does is easily countered by Gaaras auto defense.

2. Animal Path - Each and every summon can easily be defeated by simply crushing them, the only one that would give Gaara some trouble would be the Multi-headed dog which he can seal. Also, because Gaara can attack with his sand in more places than one, and from the ground up the linked vision between the summons will be of no use.

3. Naraka Path/Outer Path - Pretty much useless in this fight, Nagato isn't pain, and has no need to revive any bodies.

4. Preta Path - As long as Gaara does not attack with the sand in his gourd Preta Path won't be able to absorb anything. The only sand that Gaara uses that is infused with his chakra is the sand in his gourd as stated by Deidara. Once he realizes that his chakra is being drained he can just use regular sand. This is the reason that Gaara without the Shukaku has been able to last so long in the war without tiring. Think about it.

5. Human Path - This can pretty much kill anyone, and anything if caught, but I don't think Nagato will be able to bring Gaara into his range. I'll explain this next.

6. Deva Path - Both Universal Pull and almighty push can be countered by Gaara grounding himself with the sand. He's done this to his opponents (Kimimaro, his Father, etc.), and there's no reason to say he couldn't do it to himself. It would be somewhat similar to how Tsunade was planning to counter Pain by concentrating chakra to her feet, but unlike Tsunade Gaara still has his auto-defense to minimize the effects of Shinra Tensei. He can use this same method to survive Chibaku Tensei. Gaara has been shown to be able to dig with his sand down to depths of 200 meters, probably even more now. If he were to latch onto his feet with his sand being that deep he's not going anywhere.

Side Notes:

- Nagatos biggest downfall in this fight is that he cannot move, if had the ability to move around he would destroy Gaara. I see him either being crushed or buried, heck, probably both.

- I'm not saying that Gaara would own him, or that he would win every time, but unlike many other characters in the manga he has a solid chance of doing it alone.

i agree ... gara can defeat nagato... i would even say he could do it pretty fast... six sand coffins and thats the match... sure he could push the first away but in five seconds gara can easily reproduce another... and wat is he gona use to get past gara's defense in the lil time gara would give him to do so... noting that his more powerful attacks take time and preparation to use... be interesting to see if a normal almighty push would be enough to knock gara back

I dont think so plus i still think that their are other things the reningan can do that we dont know yet,and gaara will be figthing nagato not the dead puppets so nagato can use his own techniques apart from reningan which we dont know all but that he can use water elements.but nagato is more experienced and has being in battle before gaara was even born,for the sand guard the reningan can reple it or attract it and immedaitely reple it against gaara.
Gaara can defeat him if he tries and study him like shikamaru would.

Gaara can't beat Nagato
Nagato can fly on birds to avoid being buried,
Nagato can use missiles to blow away incoming sand attacking him
Nagato can use Shinra Tensei to control sand the way he controlled the nail that he tried to use to kill Kakashi, he can freely manipulate the sand in that manner
He can use Bansho Ten'n to draw Gaara in, if Gaara tries to hold his feet to the ground with sand, he'll send missiles to blow up the sand Gaara is using to anchor himself, if Gaara decides to use sand to attack Nagato while Nagato is drawing him in, Nagato can sheild with a summon or use the chakra blast he wanted to use to obliterate Bee(he used this through his Asura path when he invaded Konoha and it destroyed a large building in an instant), when he succeeds in pulling Gaara in he can capture him with Asura's multiple arms and suck his chakra dry or remove his soul or just stab him with chakra blade.
He can also use Wind Release Gale Palm to push back sand directed at him.

sigh i hate when people bring up the "gaara was protecting the village" ... you look at gaaras ONE disadvantage, and forget many things, like gaaras advantage.. geographically.. Deidara's TWO disadvantages, having like 1 bag of clay, and inability to kill gaara by request... deidara even said "It was much more difficult not killing him than i thought ....yeah"

deidara hints if it was a fight to kill, it would have been a totally different thing..

THANK YOU SIR. I also hate the fact that people bring this up like gaara would've won elsewhere under different circumstances... he had the home field advantage and still did not win. get over it. gaara is cool but he is not invincible. hence he been beaten multiple times...

I would just like to point out... Gaara CANNOT fly. He uses the sand to stand on in the air, but he cannot fly.

Using this is a big disadvantage to Gaara. The further away from the ground he is, the more chakra he has to use in order to use the sand that would be wet and heavy from the rain. The entire world is not made of sand. yes there are areas where the ground is sand, but gaara used the soil to turn into sand. If he's not at the beach or in the sand village, there goes more chakra. Does Gaara have as much chakra now that the bijuu is gone? Not likely, but I haven't read that one way or another.

this one is an interesting one, since we are (i am assuming) talking about the crippled NAGATO, people keep bringing up the six guys which is pein, which Gaara would NOT stand a chance against.

IF and that is a mighty big IF gaara won, it wouldnt be handily. But I think Nagato still would take this one.
