Thanks.Good thread!
Not sure where you're getting that from, I thought I made it clear that I was referring to Nagato. I even put his picture at the top of the thread. ;s-_- Gaara couldn't handle Deidara...I rest my case.
jk But seriously... I read your argument but you are talking about the Six paths of Pein instead of you talking about Nagato the man himself. Nagato with the abilities of all the paths in one dude. Yeah Gaara doesn't stand a chance against that.
1. asura path can be used as defense, long range attack etc.You must be registered for see imagesVSYou must be registered for see images
Please read first.
I'm going to go trough each path and ability that Nagato has, and show you how Gaara can possibly counter all of them, and defeat a live Nagato WITHOUT GEDO MAZO. Not all of these points are concrete, and some of these are theories. Whether you agree or not is up to you.
1. Asura path - This is probably the least threatning path to Gaara. As long as he can keep his distance he poses no threat besides the missiles which can be disposed of by either blocking, or changing it's course with the sand. Whatever this path does is easily countered by Gaaras auto defense.
2. Animal Path - Each and every summon can easily be defeated by simply crushing them, the only one that would give Gaara some trouble would be the Multi-headed dog which he can seal. Also, because Gaara can attack with his sand in more places than one, and from the ground up the linked vision between the summons will be of no use.
3. Naraka Path/Outer Path - Pretty much useless in this fight, Nagato isn't pain, and has no need to revive any bodies.
4. Preta Path - As long as Gaara does not attack with the sand in his gourd Preta Path won't be able to absorb anything. The only sand that Gaara uses that is infused with his chakra is the sand in his gourd as stated by Deidara. Once he realizes that his chakra is being drained he can just use regular sand. This is the reason that Gaara without the Shukaku has been able to last so long in the war without tiring. Think about it.
5. Human Path - This can pretty much kill anyone, and anything if caught, but I don't think Nagato will be able to bring Gaara into his range. I'll explain this next.
6. Deva Path - Both Universal Pull and almighty push can be countered by Gaara grounding himself with the sand. He's done this to his opponents (Kimimaro, his Father, etc.), and there's no reason to say he couldn't do it to himself. It would be somewhat similar to how Tsunade was planning to counter Pain by concentrating chakra to her feet, but unlike Tsunade Gaara still has his auto-defense to minimize the effects of Shinra Tensei. He can use this same method to survive Chibaku Tensei. Gaara has been shown to be able to dig with his sand down to depths of 200 meters, probably even more now. If he were to latch onto his feet with his sand being that deep he's not going anywhere.
Side Notes:
- Nagatos biggest downfall in this fight is that he cannot move, if had the ability to move around he would destroy Gaara. I see him either being crushed or buried, heck, probably both.
- I'm not saying that Gaara would own him, or that he would win every time, but unlike many other characters in the manga he has a solid chance of doing it alone.
did you know the range of his effin rain? it covers the fuken whole rain village. where would gaara go? home?lol.Gaaras sand is preety fast you know. Even during the chinin exams, Lee could hardly keep up with him. I can recall someone say "what i going on? I cant see a thing" because of the speed. Even during Diedaras battle he could keep up with Diedaras flying bombs despite the speed. My point is that he can fly even before the rain starts and get himself in a safe distance.
1. I already mentioned in the original post how it could be used to attack, nothing new there. Defensively it's good at close range, and against people, not sand.1. asura path can be used as defense, long range attack etc.
2. animal path can be used for mobility. read manga again.
3. naraka path can revive his summons, repair his body if damaged. you don't know how it works that is why you think its useless. read manga again.
4. preta path can absorb chakra from any sand gaara uses. coz every sand that gaara controls has his chakra infused in it. how the hell would he be able to control it if he doesn't use chakra. think. rereading manga is necessary.
5. human path in conjuction with banshou tennin is VERY LETHAL.
6. tendo... need I say more? CT>>>> any gaara's defense. though I honestly think shinra tensei in small scale is useless in this fight, still a large scale shinra tensei would send gaara flying. banshou tennin can be used in such precision, if pain was able to pull out a nail on a wood, I'm sure he would be able to pull gaara's gourd away from him.lol.
nagato can also summon his rain, rain can turn gaara's sand heavier thus making it harder to control.also he can use his crab summon to spit water or bubble making the battlefield really WET.lol.
nagato's mobility can be compensated by using his summon. he got a wide range of summons, you just need to use your brain, what to use and when.
Nice try though.. but still NAGATO>>>>GAARA
did you know the range of his effin rain? it covers the fuken whole rain village. where would gaara go? home?lol.
Water is a big disadvantage for gaara unless he's in the desert or something, i'm not saying it makes it useless but it does make his sand much heavier & slower to move. Gaara would give nagato a fight but i really don't see him out lasting him in a full on battle 8 summoning animals + Gedo statue + paths i'm sorry but i can't see gaara winning this fight with only using his sand.Water alone isn't enough to stop the sand, that seems to be a common misconception here. A lot of people believe that water makes Gaaras sand useless, and turns it into mud. I don't know if you've ever been to the beach, but sand is still sand, the only difference is that it's heavier. The Second Mizukage used something worse than water that was actually destroying Gaaras sand, and he was still able to use it.
Read the post above. ^ And to be able to electrocute someone they need to be in the water, Gaara can fly.
It's really not as big of a disadvantage as people try and make it seem. If Gaara was able to use his sand while it was being destroyed with the Second Mizukages oil then he should be just fine with water. As a matter of fact, adding water to it will actually increase it's defensive capabilities even more because of how dense the sand would become. Assuming all else fails, if Gaara was able to crush Sunas body to the point where it was nothing but liquid, then he can easily squeeze a little water out of his sand. No biggie.Water is a big disadvantage for gaara unless he's in the desert or something, i'm not saying it makes it useless but it does make his sand much heavier & slower to move. Gaara would give nagato a fight but i really don't see him out lasting him in a full on battle 8 summoning animals + Gedo statue + paths i'm sorry but i can't see gaara winning this fight with only using his sand.

Thanks man. I would love to see what you have to add to this.A very well made thread indeed and one I agree with.
I will come back to this much later. :izuna:

Exactly Nagato himself so He CAN move. while he had he six paths of pain he couldn't moveThanks.

Nagato can't move, he's been crippled ever since he used Gedo Mazo. Look here.Exactly Nagato himself so He CAN move. while he had he six paths of pain he couldn't move
You didn't specify whether or not he was in youth mode...Nagato can't move, he's been crippled ever since he used Gedo Mazo. Look here.
His only form of transportation are his summons. You must be registered for see images
In the original post I said a live Nagato, and I was just using that picture as a reference. Either way a young Edo Nagato can't move either, if you go back and look at that entire fight he doesn't move. That's the main reason why Itachi was able to seal him.You didn't specify whether or not he was in youth mode...
