Sasuke's character is more a result of Itachi's influence. Itachi directly affected every single important life decision Sasuke has ever made.

Naruto isn't as realistic a character as Sasuke, but going the whole story wanting to destroy something/someone and suddenly wanting to become Hokage isn't realistic either. The only thing that got developed with the Sasuke character were incidents that occurred prior to the series' start. From the chapter he debuted in all the way to 627, his story has been about revenge. And after that, he suddenly thinks he will become Hokage and be the one to end the system. That's not development. At least with Naruto, he gradually went from becoming the neighborhood menace to the most beloved person in the world.

Actually, Sasuke never wanted anyone to feel sorry for him. Instead he took heavy burdens on his own regardless of the means. Tbh, I still don't get what Sasuke's plan is, or how he is planning on doing things

i could be wrong, but i counted at least a few occasions where he said some stuff that gave me the impression he wanted someone to feel sorry for him:

- the part where he said he's destroy anyone who would mock his way of living
- when he ran into Edo Itachi
- before or after Hashirama told his story

Kishi tried very hard to make Sasuke relevant post-Hebi since when the latter died he lost major plot significance, so what did Kishi do? Make Tobi recruit him and mold him as this antithesis of Naruto in the war only to end up neglecting all of that after Tobi's unmasking, the antithesis of Naruto became Obito, Kishi then tried to parallel him to Izuna to make him a meaningful dynamic to Madara but in truth they barely had any interaction or meaningful significance to Maddy whose true contrast and bond is with Hashirama's

this is pretty much the conclusion i have come to.

i've seen characters in other fictional works who got developed as a character w/o their personality/agenda ping ponging all over the place to the point where it makes little sense, if any. A character doesn't have to possess an unpredictable personality to have development. Naruto's character went from one thing to another. Sasuke is still the same person he was in the beginning.

You just don't want to admit it as being true because it would mean having to dismiss any and all claims made by hardcore Sasuke fans who double as Naruto haters that Sasuke is the only one with character development out of the 2.

Regardless of what someone thinks of Naruto's ideology, he evolved as a character. No, it doesn't. A character is well-written if it has realism or a factor of reliability. Consistency is primarily a property of plot.

Sasuke's character is marred by indecision, dissimulation, mendacity, and false virtue. He is painted as nothing but a back up to Itachi with no moral pretenses to stand on. He has no logical self-growth and is completely reliant on others around him to shape not only the path he chooses, but the very person he is. He has the mental capacity of a child with tantrums to match and no actual definition or relevance besides what Kishimoto has shoehorned him into on the coattails of others.

It is unsurprising the Sasuke defenders are mental midgets. These characters are a literal dime a dozen. He's a poor man's Lelouch, only inconsistent, shallow, and not well done. Hate the truth all you want, but it doesn't change the facts presented, even in your doltish ways.
