[Doton] Earth training with Yashiro

[Ryóma]

Tiashe looks as the spikes around him disappear, so he knows he answered correctly. He sees Hana looking at him from a distance, and makes up his mind that women truly are scary. But once she walks over to him with a kind smile and praises him, Tiashe relaxes a little. He carefully listens to the instructions she now gives him, she tells him to spit out a sticky gob which could help with a few things, including defending against the shaking technique she had just used on him now. She then informs him about another technique, but she does not specify if he performs it or not, leaving him confused. So he decides to do the first and third and wait to see if she would ask him to do the second.

Starting off, Tiashe gathers a sufficient amount of Chakra in his stomach. He gives it soft, and sticky properties, before then transferring this Chakra into his mouth. He opens his mouth, then spits out the Chakra, which comes out as a thick globule of mud. It lands on the trunk of a tree, and sticks onto it.

Tiashe thinks the second technique sounds very interesting, as it can cause much damage without using much Chakra and it only needs one hand seal. He also finds very intriguing that he can just cause walls or caves to collapse, but seeing none around him, he does not know how he would perform it here, and as such, he was not told to.

Moving on to the last technique, Tiashe performs the Ram-Horse-Dragon hand seals. This is after he gathers some Chakra within him, converting it to Earth Chakra by giving it hard and dense properties. He then lets it out through his right arm, and it comes out in the shape of a dragon head with an open mouth. Tiashe fuels Chakra into it, and the head shoots it out as concentrated mud bullets, which travel fast and hit the tree, damaging it.

"Now I want you to create a river of mud that'll flow under your opponent to carry them away, this river can be a medium for other mud techniques, such as the one you just learned, what was it called again? Ah, the Earth Dragon Bullet. Not bad, but moving on, you'll have to erupt multiple pillars of rock to created a 'prison', around your enemy, it can be used for trapping them temporarily, while you think of something on the go, or can be used in conjunction with something else, whatever your preference is. Final thing you have to do is create a slab of Earth that rises from the ground, it'll be used as protection, but you can also use it to clear obstacles infront of you"

Description: After striking the ground with their hands, the user manipulates the ground in front of him to form a slab that tilts upwards, up to 90º, creating a wall of earth that can defend from incoming frontal attacks. In addition, the user can also create 2 slabs that will rise and tilt to the sides in front of him, as if "opening up" the ground. This can be done to create a clear path if anything hazardous is above the ground in that specific area.

Tiashe listens carefully to the next instructions and gets to work. He performs the Tiger hand seal whilst moulding Earth Chakra in his feet by making it liquidy. He then releases it, and a river of mud escapes into the ground in front of him, reaching to around 10 metres. The landscape changes to a dirt brown colour, covering the ground, but it soon disappears, leaving the ground wet.

Next, Tiashe performs the Rat → Horse → Dog → Snake hand seals whilst moulding Chakra in his feet, making it hard and dense. He then releases it under the ground where it travels a few metres in front of him. Then, the Chakra causes a large amount of rock pillars to rise from up under the ground in that place. They shoot up, and create a bamboo like prison of rock. If there had been someone in there, they would not get out easily unless they used a Jutsu. Tiashe then releases this technique to move on with the next one.

Tiashe moulds some Chakra, and as he does so, he kneels down with his left knee touching the floor and he slams his hands down onto the earth. He releases the Chakra into the ground from his hands, and this Chakra is used to manipulate the earth to form a slab upwards in front of Tiashe, covering him if any attacks were sent to him from the front. This slab of earth stands up straight, and Tiashe soon releases it.

"Now, I want you to focus chakra into the ground below, then raise your dominant hand into the air, a river of mud will erect underneath you, and it can have water added to it to increase it's flow and power. Next move is kinda of useless in my opinion, i'd never use it atleast, but yeah, you'll be able to channel your Earthen chakra into structures so you can move around in them, but the thing is, you're slow, you'll barely be able to sense what's going on above you, so all in all, it's a pretty a dud when it comes to usefulness, i'd stick with Hiding Like a Mole. For the last one of this set, you'll manipulate what they call Dragon Veins in the ground, you'll use them to split up the surface underneath the opponent, or anywhere on the field. The chasms can be pretty much created anywhere, and basically bent with your imagination and skill, try it out"

Description: Using this jutsu, a person can hide underground until they're ready to attack an opponent by merging with the ground itself. By utilizing earth-chakra, the person can stealthily emerge from the ground without disrupting the ground around him. The disadvantage with this technique is that merging with the ground is rather slow and while perfomring the technique, the user is vulnerable to high ranked Earth techniques. The user isn't hidden from doujutsu or sensory ninjas and cannot travel beyond the 3 meter deep mark. Moving around in the ground is slow and the user cannot sense very well what is happening above.

Description: The user will first perform the required hand seals Rabbit → Boar → Rat → Horse → Tiger → Snake and slamming the hands on the ground, the user can, by flowing concentrated chakra into the Dragon Veins flowing underground, tear the earth apart, creating large chasms by raising the earth in two oposite sides in the desired location and then splitting that piece of earth through the center. The length, width, direction, and curve of the chasm are all up to the user. Manipulating the Dragon Veins requires fine chakra control, but if one has such skill, they can use this technique to divide the space between the enemy and their own team in two, destroy enemy camps or defences, and even to attack.
Note: This does not split the earth appart directly to cause opponents to fall in the fissure.

Alright Senpai.

Tiashe gathered chakra in his feet, and molded it into earth chakra. He then released it from his feet, sending it about a meter in front of him. Then lifting up his right arm, a river of mud formed at his feet, running downstream from him, turning the grounds muddy and brown. It easily reached more than ten metres away from him and he thought to himself that it would be a good technique to use when surrounded by many opponents. He could sweep many people away with this. After that, Tiashe summoned water chakra within him, and added water into the river. All of a sudden, the river increases it's speed as the water made it thinner, thereby allowing it to flow faster and with more momentum. Tiashe gazed at it for a few seconds, then willed the river to disappear.

Next, Tiashe gathered chakra within him again, and molding it into earth chakra, he let it out from his feet. As he did so, he started to merge into the ground, slowly. Just like his teacher had just told him, he realized that this technique would not help him much, unless perhaps he was already hiding before an enemy arrived. Still in the earth, Tiashe slowly moved around, but he had no idea what was happening above the earth. Feeling the need to go back up, Tiashe slowly unmerged himself, and was soon back up.

Upon reaching the surface, Tiashe performed the Rabbit → Boar → Rat → Horse → Tiger → Snake hand seals, at the same time gathering chakra within his hands. He molded it into earth chakra and bending down, Tiashe slammed his hands into the ground. As he did, the chakra was released in the Dragon Veins flowing underground, tearing the earth apart. Tiashe formed the shape in his mind that the tear in the earth was very jagged, and it made a 360 degrees circle around him. He thought this would help in not allowing an enemy to come close to him.

"It was perfect, starting to think you don't need me for this", she laughs softly. "Moving on, form a simple handseal and slam your hand on the ground, this'll allow your chakra to surge underneath the surface, and churn the rock above it. Basically more diversion like, not all that capable offensively, unless you're trying to destroy another man's rock formation. The next one is more of a hitter, you'll encase your dominant arm in rock, then deliver a devastating punch. It could be further augmented by the added weight technique, which you haven't learnt yet. Now, this is kinda useless, and it's really risky when you think about it. You'll make a tunnel in the ground to use as a getaway, or for transportation. But know that when you're underground, your opponent always has the advantage, remember that rock dislodging technique you learnt not too long ago? Yeah, that could very well lead you to your death if you're not careful"

Description: The user after performing the required hand seals Ram → Dog → Rat → Bird is able to create a wide tunnel in the ground, this cannot travel through rock though or anything with a high density. The large tunnel that is created allows the user to transport others without detection.

Tiashe blushes under the praise. I still have much to learn Sensei.

Then, forming the snake hand seal, Tiashe gathers chakra in his right arm, which he converts to earth chakra by making it hard and dense. He then swiftly bends down and slams his hand into the ground, allowing the chakra to seep into the earth, where it travels through the ground up to around ten metres away from him. As it travels, the ground above becomes very churned, and chunks of rubble pop up from the ground, so that if anyone was standing above, they would be caught in it. Tiashe formulates thoughts in his mind about this technique. Hmm, I would use this as only a distraction, as the opponent will be able to see me slamming my hands into the ground. This will automatically tell them that I am performing a ground based attack. But of course, if I used a Jutsu which keeps me hidden like the hidden mist Jutsu, it will be easier to perform. Also, the opponent will probably be able to feel the ground moving and then they can just jump off. After thinking things through, Tiashe moves on to the next technique.

After performing the required hand seals, Tiashe gathers chakra again in his right arm, and converts it into earth chakra. Then, instead of releasing it out towards something, Tiashe lets this chakra escape from the chakra pores in his arm. Clenching his fist, this chakra hardens around his arm and hand as an earth encasing. Using this now heavy and protected arm, Tiashe punches the earth in front of him on the ground, and it cracks slightly. He is astonished that it can do that, whilst at the same time not injuring his arm. He realizes though, that he has to be in close range of the opponent and decides that he would use this technique when the target can not move around and is stuck in a position, as it would make it easier for him to strike.

Moving on, Tiashe performs the Ram → Dog → Rat → Bird hand seals and uses his chakra to create a wide tunnel underground. This tunnel would be used for traveling through, all the way up to long range. But Tiashe does not like tunneling techniques as they are pretty risky since the user is vulnerable. I have a question Sensei. After I perform the hand seals and the tunnel is created underground, is there a visible opening with which I go through? And another question, if the opponent uses a water technique on me, the one which just drops down but does not cause harm, then can I use this technique to absorb all the water in the ground?

 

[Joker]

"The next one is used in conjunction with the Assimilate all of Creation technique. Once the rocks are on your body, you'll use this to manipulate them to shoot out towards your opponent like Earthen bullets. After you use the mud flow wave, you have the capability of using the mud as a source to condense, shape, and solidify it into a giant needle that'll impale them in which ever spot you choose. Lastly, form a handseal and erect two walls of Earth that close in on them, making a human sandwich."

After performing the Assimilate all creation technique, Tiashe uses the rocks on his body from that technique. He manipulates them, to move at his command, and shoot at a certain distance. He notes that they can however, only reach a distance of up to around five metres. Not one to fight in short range, he does not think too highly of this technique and will probably never use it. And it also requires a technique to be performed beforehand, so it would be too troublesome in is eyes.

In preparation for the next technique, Tiashe gathers his chakra, moulds it and lets it out. This is the Earth Flow Wave technique that he performs. Getting into the main part of the technique, Tiashe then performs the snake hand seal and shape manipulates the earth in front of him. He causes a large needle to come out of it, blunt from the end but sharp from the tip. He aims it at something, and again sees that this technique as well can not reach very far at all. He decides though that it would be quite a nice way to kill as it is sharp and can aim at a specific point. He thinks it would be wise to do it when the opponent is pinned down.

And finally, Tiashe once again gathers his chakra. After performing the snake hand seal, he lets his chakra seep into the ground in front of him a few metres away. He then causes two slabs of earth to rise up which are positioned very close to each other. As they come up, Tiashe imagines someone in between them, and he manipulates the walls to squeeze in together. If there had been someone in there, they would have been crushed in between the two walls.

Sensei, can this third technique be used to lift me up into the air if I stand on one of the walls, and at the same time be used to crush the opponent?

 

[Joker]

"Hm, honestly never heard someone try to do that. I don't see why not. For this one, honestly, I wouldn't use it in battle. You'll use your chakra to pick up sand and other small particles to replicate a dust storm that deals no damage, but lasts a little bit. Your enemy can easily used a wind technique to blow the dust right back at you, crippling the purpose. Next, I want you to focus your chakra into the ground, and apply some shape to the rubble that'll leak out, creating a hammer you'll obviously use to beat 'em down a bit, pretty simple. Lastly, this one has to ways to perform, you can either thrust your fist in their general direction, creating a nice sized rock that'll lunge at them, or you can spew a globule of mud that hardens mid-way, kinda the same thing, but in the situations, either variant might be more convenient."

Tiashe gathers chakra, and sends it into the ground a little ahead of him. He then motions his right arm to move up, and as he does, a small wall of dust particles and sand rise up in front of him. It would be used to obscure the visions of an opponent if they got too close to him. Tiashe again sends his chakra into the ground, and manipulates the ground so that a huge rock rises from beneath the ground. He levitates this rock into the air, and then smashes it into the ground with force. That would surely hammer someone into the ground if they had been standing there. Lastly, Tiashe once again gathers chakra, this time in his arm. He thrusts his arm out in front of himself, with his palm open, facing where the opponent would be. As he does this, a large rock is thrown outwards from his palm, intended to aim at an opponent.

 

[Six Paths]

Not so bad. Alright, my method is slightly different because after you perform, you need to mention a few advantages and disadvantages. I know it is a very cliche method, but it is the simplest so far and if I get to Sensei, Imma change that up eventually.

This technique is a fairly easy one. You will perform one handseal and you will transform the ground that the opponent is sitting in into a directed flow of mud, which may look like a river. Through this technique you can disturb other techniques which the opponent is using. You can also use the technique into a supplementary fashion, for the technique earth dragon bullet. All in all it is simple, nothing much to add to it.

Use it into that clone there.

This technique can be performed after 4 handseals. You will then simply send your chakra into the ground and use it to effectively grow a huge amount of rock pillars from the ground. These will be controlled to grow all around the opponent in form of a prison which will stop the enemies movement. It can be used in conjunction with offensive techniques which either come from above or below to create an attack which can be very difficult to dodge. You can also grow the pillars right before you to stop attacks, but just use it now and surround my clone.

(Doton: Jōshō Iwa) - Earth Release: Rising Rocks

Description: The user claps their hands together and then unleashes two huge rocks from the ground on either side of the enemy to send the opponent flying backwards.

A rather simple technique, shown used by the Tsuchikage himself. You will grow 2 rock segments in either side of your opponent, slightly before him. Those rocks, will direct themselves towards the enemy, and based on the speed that they emerge from the ground, hit him with quite a considerate amount of force. The rocks are fast, and the technique can be performed just by clapping your hands, allowing the performance to be a quick offensive method. And based on hos they could grow, it could even be used as a form of defense. Well, you know the rest. Use it on my clone, and mention a few advantages and disadvantages.

(Doton: Gizagiza no Iwajin) - Earth Release: Jagged Rock Formation

Description: The user will manipulate their chakra and stomps the ground. By doing so, he causes small fractures to rip through the ground, which will then force fragments of earth and rock to rise up from the ground like protruding rock formations to then deal blunt force damage to the opponent and can raise them up into the air.

This technique in a sense is similar, but maybe a little faster, and more useful. You will stomp the ground, sending over chakra, and crack the earth below you in a rather random pattern. Those cracks of earth, will define segments, or earth formations, which will rise up from the ground, dealing a blunt, raw physical damage. It could be used very well against summons, or free-falling enemies. Honestly, the case you use it, entirely depends on you. There is not much else I can say.

Tiashe listens carefully to the instructions of his new teacher. Starting with the first one, he gathers Doton chakra and sends it into the ground near the clone. He then claps his hands, and two pieces of large rock emerge from the ground fast, slightly in front of the clone. The rocks hit the clone, sending him flying backwards.

Ah, yes, advantages of this technique would be, if the user wants the opponent to move further away. It is a fast technique, does not require any hand seals, but only needs the user to clap the hands. It would also work well in catching the opponent by surprise as it is fast. This technique is also good as a defense, as the opponent will not easily be able to come next to the user whilst they are spewing rocks out from the ground.

Disadvantages would only be the fact that the user needs to clap their hands, as this would alert the opponent that something is coming.

Tiashe then moves on to the next technique. He gathers chakra in his feet, converting it into Doton chakra before stomping the ground. The chakra is released into the ground and Tiashe manipulates it to move throughout the ground. It causes much damage, making fragments of earth protrude out of the ground. The jagged rocks rise up fast, changing the landscape in front of him almost instantly.

This technique is pretty awesome, and like you said, is pretty good to use against opponents who are about to land from the air. It is also a good defense, as the rupturing of the ground prevent the opponent from coming close. The range is also pretty nice. And also like you mentioned about the summons, it can take many out at once. The only alert to this technique that the opponent will receive is the stomping of the ground, but it is a pretty fast process.

One moment Tiashe was speaking to his Senpai, and the next moment, he was gone. Instead, there was someone else in his place. A young looking woman stood before Tiashe, and made a comment about the weather. Tiashe did not know how to respond, so he simply just nodded his head in a respectful manner. The woman looked very familiar to Tiashe, and when he wondered where he had seen her, he realized that they were both from the same village. He just couldn't seem to remember her name though.

Tiashe listened as his new Senpai spoke to him. He thought it would seem rude that he had not said anything to her yet, so when she told him that he had already completed the last C-Rank technique, he commented.

I see, I did not know that that was the last one. I'm glad to be on B-Ranks now, and also glad that you are my new teacher.

He tilted his head to the side slightly, and gave a faint smile. The Senpai then asked him to tell her which three techniques were his favourite, and so he proceeded to do so.

Description: After striking the ground with their hands, the user manipulates the ground in front of him to form a slab that tilts upwards, up to 90º, creating a wall of earth that can defend from incoming frontal attacks. In addition, the user can also create 2 slabs that will rise and tilt to the sides in front of him, as if "opening up" the ground. This can be done to create a clear path if anything hazardous is above the ground in that specific area.

I find Earth Shore Return to be very useful, as it can help me defend against things. Not only that, it allows me a means of escape from a technique by summoning it and bouncing off. I also use it sometimes to just stand on to see places which I could not see otherwise, seeing as how I'm not exactly the tallest person around here.

To this, Tiashe looked a little embarrassed, but continued on to tell her the other two.

Description: This technique lets the user summon a river of mud infront of them by lifting one of their hands in the air. This technique can have water added to it to speed up the flow and increase its power.

I also like the Mud Spore technique because if an opponent gets too close to me, I can use it to keep them away. Also, it can keep more than one opponent away at once. I find it easy to initiate as well, as it does not require any hand seals, but only lifting one arm into the air. I also like how water can be added to it to make it faster, so if someone gets stuck in there, they would have a very difficult time in getting out.

Description: The user will manipulate their chakra releasing it into the ground and with a wave of their arm or through the application of a weapon can cause a small wall of dust particles and sand to rise up from the ground and thrusting forwards. This technique creates a simple dust screen that will fade away after 3 turns.

And, I suppose the last one is the Dust Wall Technique. This one is nice because it blocks the opponents vision. This allows for effective setups, unknown to the opponent.

Chelsea listens to her new student carefully. It seems that the guy doesn't know her much, although he does recall her seeing somewhere. It wasn't his fault though. Chelsea has been busy lately with a loads of things and didn't get time to join village events and stuff. It wasn't long while before Rangiku resigned from her war general position and went on a long hiatus and she was the one who had to keep the tab of village developments and training and battles.
I guess, I should have introduced myself before.lol My name is Chelsea and I am from Mandalore clan. Also your name is Tiashe, right??
Chelsea knew the boy from village records and had seen him in the village before. Oh well, the guy was an interesting fellow nonetheless.
Hmmm...You have got quiet nice choice there, I must say. I typically liked the way you give me some really good reasons, typically the mud spore one. It seems like senpais before me had done a nice job and made you strong theoretically. Now, I want to see how good you are practically...
Chelsea created a clone nearby and continued, What I want you to do now is, fight this look a like of mine, but there is one condition.
Condition is, you have to form a doton combo. You can use any other elements of your choice and use it to complement your doton jutsu. You can use any jutsu you learnt till now. I want to see basically how good you can use doton with other elements. Now, unleash yourself son.^^

Ah, so that was who she was. Chelsea, a Mandalorian. Given that Tiashe had not really seen her around much before, it was normal for her name to escape his memory. When Chelsea asked him if his name was Tiashe, he responded with a brief nod. She then commended him on his choice of techniques, to which he replied.

Thank you. Yes, I could not have come this far without their help.

Tiashe then watched on as Chelsea made a clone. He was told to fight it, but for a moment he hesitated. It would seem strange to him to attack a woman, but after seeing countless Shinobi of both genders, he knew that it did not matter. It would not do to go around underestimating the skills of other people. So Tiashe proceeded to do as he was told. He noticed though that his Senpai had called him son. People did not use those terms with him before, and so this confused him. He wondered if it was just the normal thing to do these days in society. But then again, he did not exactly know how society worked, so he brushed it aside and concentrated on training.

Tiashe tried to think of a combo in his mind which would showcase his skills thus far. He decided that it would be best to see what he could do with low ranking techniques first, as a good fighter must be able to utilize a simple technique very well. And with that, Tiashe thought of two D-Ranks to use.

Gathering chakra in his right arm, Tiashe molded it into Doton chakra by making it heavy, cool and condensed. When it formed, he let it out through his fingertips. A small mass of mud appeared, which very quickly turned into the shape of a Kunai as Tiashe used shape manipulation on it. He released it very quickly from his hand, sending it traveling to the clone.

As soon as it left his fingertips, Tiashe gathered chakra once again, this time converting it into Katon chakra. He spewed a small fireball out of his mouth, which quickly caught up to the earth Kunai, erupting it into flames. This flame filled Kunai would continue on towards the clone.

Once again, as soon as the fire had left his mouth, Tiashe gathered chakra and performed the Tiger hand seal, whilst molding the chakra into Doton chakra. This caused the earth beneath the clone to give way, as a river formed underneath her, carrying her away. If the clone had managed to evade the fiery Kunai, she would have been caught in the river of mud as her concentration would be on the Kunai.

Chelsea sees the man was hesitant to attack her clone first, but then performed a decent move. She also observed that the man in front of her acknowledged senpais before her, which she liked a lot. He then proceeded to form a kunai of earth, which he then sent towards her clone. Then, he sent a fireball towards the kunai, which then catches up with kunai and engulfs kunai of earth in fire. To respond to the first jutsu, Chelsea's clone gathers suiton in her mouth and then spits the continuous wave of water to her right side at the distance of about 5 meters, so that the clone can get projected at 5 meters on the opposite side and hence avoiding your kunai and fireball in the process.

Descripton: A strong water wave spit from the mouth that is more compressed than Chaos Water Wave and can carve the earth if used on the same area multiply times.

Use of Earth release was unique, but it consumed your one move, giving me enough amount of time to counter the jutsu combo. Most important thing while forming combos is that, you must not give your opponent time to counter the first jutsu and hence using kunai in this case would have been better rather than earth weapon and that's why spars are important.^^
Anyways, its time to continue to B-Ranks, then I will again fight you, so that I will come to know how much have you really improved.

She then removes the scroll from her pocket and then instructs you about the next jutsu.

Description: After performing the required hand seals Boar → Ox → placing hand on the ground, the user causes the ground surrounding the enemy to spiral inwards on itself, burying them alive or crushing them in a mayhem of jagged rocks. This technique is capable of causing quite a bit of damage to a large area. This technique is much more damaging if used in rocky mountainous areas, or inside a cave.

The first jutsu is called as 'tearing earth turning palm'...(quiet a weird name, don't you think??) Perform the required handseals(Boar → Ox), gather your doton chakra and then place your hand on the ground, so that the ground around your enemy can be spiraled inwards. In this way, you can bury your enemy alive or crush him completely.
Care must be taken that you aren't within the range of this jutsu, typically if you are in a cave and hence I recommend its usage only from mid or long range and this technique has good range to make it possible. It is typically used in rocky mountain and is very useful against number of opponents, since it covers comprehensive amount of area.
Chelsea then forms a clone which then stands in the nearby cave, so that you can crush that poor thing and have your revenge.
Perform this jutsu and tell me when it was used in manga or anime.

The next jutsu is the jutsu I hate the most, because I always found it sneaky and difficult to counter.
Chelsea then proceeds after nodding her head briefly.

Description: The user of this technique condenses the soil and rock in the area to sprout out in the form of four large spikes which attack the target from four separate directions to make it harder to evade. However, it can be easilty avoided by escaping upwards.

To perform this jutsu, first gather you doton chakra and then channel it to the ground beneath you. After doing so, gather the chakra under your opponent and use this doton chakra to manipulate the soil and rock in that area to form four large spikes, which will protrude your opponent from four different sides. This technique is really difficult to counter, because spikes emerge from all four sides and hence the only way you can counter this one is by jumping upwards, effect that can be achieved by water technique my clone used before a while or using rock pillar.
Chelsea then directed you towards the nearby wooden clone, so that you can try the jutsu out.
Turn for my question, why do you think I called this jutsu 'sneaky'?? Is there something else that makes this jutsu difficult to counter apart from what I have mentioned??

As the fiery earth kunai travelled to the clone, Tiashe watched as she used a water technique familiar to him. She used it to move out of the way of the incoming kunai, causing the kunai to simply land somewhere in the distance on the ground. Tsk, he had wanted the pleasure of bursting the clone. Inwardly, he was scowling, but on the outside, his face remained expressionless. Chelsea then gave Tiashe advice as to what he should have done, to which he simply nodded. His ears then perked up as he heard her tell him that after completing the B-ranks, she would fight him again. That satisfied him a little; he would destroy the clone later. Also, he made up his mind to listen very intently to everything she taught him, so that he could put up an impressive fight the next time round.

Tiashe watched as Chelsea sent her clone off and took out a scroll, presumably containing the jutsus which he was to learn. She read out the name of the first one, asking him if it was a strange name. But he thought that the question did not require an answer, as Chelsea went on speaking, so he just listened to the description.

Chelsea then made a clone appear again, this time in a cave nearby. Tiashe's mood further lit up, as he realised he was been given the opportunity to crush the clone. Without much hesitation, Tiashe gathered chakra in his right arm, and performed the Boar → Ox hand seals. As he converted his chakra to doton chakra, Tiashe let it travel into his hand. He then placed his hand onto the ground, allowing the chakra to run through it till it reached the cave. Upon his command, the ground surrounding the clone started to spiral in onto itself. This caused the cave to also collapse onto the clone, burying her in the process. Tiashe watched on expressionless. But it was only a clone anyways, so it did not matter to him.

After performing the technique, Tiashe answered Chelsea's question as to which person used the technique.

Well, if I recall correctly, an Iwagakure ninja by the name of Sumashi used it on Team Minato when they were trying to save one of their members in the Third Great Shinobi War.

Tiashe had not been in the war, but he had heard all the details about it. But he knew how it felt to be in a war, since he had been caught in one as a child; the one which had destroyed his homeland.

Tiashe then listened carefully to the instructions for the next technique, and went through in his head the ways in which this technique was sneaky. Gathering chakra, Tiashe converted it into doton chakra via nature manipulation. He then let it out into the ground, channeling it into the ground. It travelled to the ground underneath the new wood clone his Senpai had just created. Using this chakra, Tiashe made the ground protrude upwards from four areas in the shape of four spikes. They landed on the clone, damaging it. Tiashe then went on to answer Chelsea's question.

I think this technique is sneaky because no hand seals are required, nor are any stomps of the feet or slamming of hands on the ground by the user performed. This has the effect of surprise, as the opponent would have no idea that an attack is coming. It is all done silently, and without any warning. It can only be defended against when it already comes out of the ground, when it may be a little late for some people. However, I don't think Hyuga members will be surprised by this, because the Byakugan will be able to see the attack coming.
