Zev had at this point gone into the keep to get more wine that he would bring to Alucard and Barney and was back as Alucard had addressed Hawke. The Edo would hand a glass each to them and then return into the shadows once again (next to Alucard).

Seeing as Alucard didn't want the bottle back, Hawke made a gesture with his head towards the approaching Barney and Misk, after taking another swig, offered the bottle to the blond and gave a cross-eyed wink back. Garrett himself just looked the cloaked man up and down, but finally relented and gave a nod of his own before going back to smiling at the lord of the mansion.

"I'll contract whatever, Red, you keep this generous streak going." The veteran tipped his proverbial cap at Alucard. "Them's the best kinds of friendships, so call on me when that ambition of yours needs some extra kick, yeah?"

And with that, as well as another round of diplomatic nods, Hawke turned on his heels and began the march back across the bridge. Misk, leaving the bottle to Barney, quickly followed.

Barney sent Hawke off with a look of administration as the two made their way out of the city across the bridge. He had an aura around him, full of confidence. Full of himself. Perhaps their paths would cross some other day. Besides, Barney didn't even catch his name. He looked at Alucard.

So, yes! Let's toast to our friendship. I made sure to make this trip worthwhile, trying to accomplish multiple things along the way. One of them was talking to you about your invitation. I have taken my time to figure some things out and I think this is a good course of action. You're a good friend and I would like to grow and get stronger under your tutelage. Besides, I love this place. Maybe a smidge too hot for my taste, but I have a solution for that as well.

We may do good in others eyes but our methods are not *cough* human. I don't ban any form of Kinjutsu, your mission is the only thing important to you when assigned or self-assigning. Die if you must to finish the mission, but do it in style if you have to. That's pretty much all there is to it for now.

Barney was officially a Hellsinger. And he already had a mission. As his first act as a Hellsinger he had to conquer the island of Yume. It was perfect. He could make the island into his base of operations and he could work in his lab on [redacted]. Those were Alucards words. This prompted Barney to not lose any time.

Thank you for this opportunity. I better get moving before a storm catches me.

He took another sip from the bottle and passed it back to Alucard, after which he turned around and maderhis way towards Gaikotsu bay.

Barney had left for Yume island now. Zev would position himself right next to Alucard, who's chakra needed to be fed yet again before going anywhere. Alucard and his edo would head back towards the crimson keep and get some rest before they would eventually leave for their next mission. Integra would join them in Alucards quarters at the very bottom of the complex in an underground chamber fit for royalty. As Alucard had fallen into meditation to charge up his chakra supply, she stepped into the room.

He had walked now for long without purpose, the deity of the sky was nothing but a farce and he still hadn't been able to use the [redacted] technique despite his efforts and patience. Because of this, his alter ego had grown in his spirit but suppressed heavily by Alucards own. An enemy within himself that he was fighting every single second of his life.

Once again, Barney found himself at the entrance to the underground city. As he entered, it was very quiet and there didn't seem like anyone was around. Barney made his way across the bridge and felt as his soles were melting from the lava flowing underneath. On the other side if the bridge, Barney stood where he met last rine with Alucard and Hawke and he looked around.​

Hello? Anyone home?​

He continued in the direction where he saw Alucard come out of and just as he was about to enter the throne room, he was greeted by Integra.​

Hello.​

Oh, hey, sorry for stumbling into you. I'm looking for...​

He's not here.​

Do you happen to know when he might be?​

If he ever listened to me, I would, but since he's stubborn, I have no clue where he went.​

Do you mind if i wait for him here?​

She showed Barney a lounge area obviously made for guests that came to visit Alucard when he wasn't around. He sat down and took the book out of his cloak and started reading about the Children if Tiamat.​

Barney enjoyed the drink that Integra got for him but he wondered what she was up to. She wouldn't sit down with him and always seemed to rush back to her confines. She was probably a vital part of the organization and it seemed like she was the warden when Alucard was not around. That would mean she couldn't really leave the place. He wondered if she needed any help with anything. After all, he was a full fledged Hellsing member and it was his duty now to protect the clans interests and help with what was necessary.

Barney emptied the funky glass of rakija, slammed it into the tabletop, stood up and went on his way. His throat was burning, his checks were drawing blood and turning red and he started sweating. His head was a bit light and it seemed that the rakija was top notch. Alucard knew his shit. After one glass, Barney got drunk.

Barney crossed the bridge, waking casually with his hands full. He carried multiple bags full of goods, some of which were for the dinner that Integra intended, and some were for Barney's lab. Upon entering the lounge, he would put the bags down onto the tabletop and see that his rakija glass has been refilled. Funny. Maybe she wanted him to get drunk. Maybe there was something in the air. Nevertheless, Barney would announce his arrival.​

Hey, I brought the stuff, where do you want me to put it?​

I'm over here!​

Barney followed her voice and it lead to the kitchen. She was already preparing the table for dinner, which meant that she was expecting Alucard to return soon. They must've had some form of communication it seems, but they were secretive about it. No big deal, thought Barney.​

​

Where do we start?​

Wash the veggies, descale the fish and clean their insides. I'll prepare the table.​

​

Barney felt the heat from the second shot of rakija in his ears, but he wasn't discouraged from picking up a knife. The first one already evaporated from his body so his blood alcohol content wasn't bad. He would angle the knife at a sharp angle and start gliding it across the fish in the opposite direction of the scales, removing the scales from the fish. Once he was done on both sides, he would cut the fish across its belly and pull out the insides. Afterwards, he would marinate the fish with some high quality virgin olive oil that he picked up and spice it up with some mediterranean spices and herbs. The smells quickly enveloped the whole kitchen and Barney's belly started growling. He was properly hungry and it was a long while since he had a good quality meal. He was always on the move and always in a hurry so his diet was horrible. He ate way too much ramen and fast food on the go. He had to do something about that. After finishing the fish, he would move onto the veggies, first running them under the water to rinse them and then he would start slicing them. Lettuce, tomatoes, onions and cucumbers and then potatoes. He would put the lettuce and cucumbers in a salad bowl while the rest he would scatter across a baking tray, around the marinated fish. All of that would go into the oven to bake. Upon finishing Barney would draw in a deep breath and it made him feel accomplished.​

These smells got me so hungry.​

Tell me about it. I expect Alucard and Zev to arrive soon. Ah, finally got time to relax for a bit. Hey, you want another drink?​

Eh, I shouldn't. Else I risk losing a couple fingers. Nooo, we wouldn't want to have you fingerless. Fingers are very important. Integra would say as she bit her lower lip. No way, thought Barney. She was just teasing him. Can't perform handseals without them, right?​

Barney could feel a drop of sweat leaving the pores on his forehead. His ears were burning and the rakija a was kicking in. He had to take a seat. ​

The rakija started diluting through his body as time passed. He lost track of time as he drunkenly dropped into the soft couch earlier. He forgot about the food in the oven. Hopefully, Integra checked on it, to make sure it doesn't burn. It seemed like he didn't have perfect bladder control after all, as it was about to burst. He had to find the toilet but he couldn't find Integra to ask her where it was. He made his way into the kitchen to check on the food and then hurry to take a piss. As he opened the oven, scalding steam rushed upwards into his face, burning his eyelashes and nose hair.​

Ah ****. My faaacee.... I'll piss myself... Oh god!​

​

He crossed his legs in his knees and grabbed his crotch with one hand while grabbing his face with the other while screaming in agony. The heat started escaping from the oven but he couldn't hear the fish and veggies simmering in their own juices. Integra suddenly walked into this circus that Barney created. It was like a scene from a sitcom. ​

What's going on here??? She had a puzzled look on her face. ​

Wheres the freaking toilet???????​

Right sown the hallway.​

Barney didn't wait for her to finish. He stormed out of the kitchen as she said hall. Once he entered the toilet, he started frantically trying to move his cloak out of the way to free his tool but he got in there too late. A drop escaped and made a soil in his pants. Luckily, he managed to piss the rest out into the toilet.​

****. I didn't think of packing a reserve pair. Nobody will notice.​

​

He washed his hands and face in the sink and assess the damage from the scalding steam. Yeah, his nose hair were definitely toast but his facial hair was fine. The eyebrows and eyelashes made it out alive. He turned the lights off behind himself and made his way back into the kitchen.​

Please tell me that it's not burned.​

It's not burned...... It's charcoal.​

Great. Where's Alucard anyway?​

Eh, whatever. He tried his best and had good intentions but it didn't turn out well in the end. He didn't want to argue with the woman or any woman for that matter, so he grabbed the bottle of rakija and topped up his funky glass again, as he dropped into the soft lounge couch. ​

Barney felt his brain cells melting out of boredom. He wasn't the type to patiently sit around and wait. He had to be on the move, always doing something and gathering new experiences, getting stronger and setting new goals. It wasn't like him to get drunk like a pig either, but here he was. He halved the bottle of rakija like it was nothing and he already lost feeling in his mouth and esophagus. The burn from the rakija was something unique, a feeling everyone had to try atleast once in their lifetime. ​

Perhaps he got attacked, ambushed, injured badly or maybe even killed? Barney said out loud.​

Alucard is immortal. Besides, there's no such thing that can kill him. Integra came out of nowhere and startled Barney. ​

That's reassuring.​

Barney turned his head and ignored Integra for the rest of his wait. Alucard, where are you to end this suffering, he thought to himself. ​

He was patient and taught him, helping him regain his memory. That was why Barney's heart sunk when he almost uttered the word daughter. Lilith was indeed beautiful, but he math was simple. Zev noticed it as well. He wasn't his favorite anymore which is why he was so grumpy earlier. Lilith has become the new favorite, no doubt about it. But why did it bother Barney? Perhaps it was because the book he held in his hands talked about children as well. Albeit a different kind.
