Sure, there are more people who deserve it. But there's always the fact that this could be very good for troubled transsexuals who feel alone or ostracized. It's not like the community of soldiers actually need this, but the transsexual community does. You need to look past just Caitlyn and see the bigger picture.

Ok?

That's what support groups are for. She/he is getting awarded for something that defies logic and biology altogether. Like I said, America is backwards

If they're alone and ostracized then it's their choice. Soldiers feel alone when they come home to realize how hostile and degenerate the country they fought for really is.

No one said that this should be the only thing that will give them a sense of validity in themselves,

Then is it not sad that nothing else is being provided for that validation? Just token representation that serves nothing.

their existence and right to be, and it's a good thing too because it's not. But it helps to encourage that.

Ya suddenly the antis change their stances and along with magical solving every problem.

That's why we don't have every character in every movie be a white guy.

Ummm ... how does race gets involved in a Transgender discussion? Also in China the media is dominated by Chinese, same is Japan, same in India ..... They dont produce any worthwhile effect.

Representation is important, especially at a time like this when they are still heavily scrutinized, ridiculed and put down.

It is important but it is the least important thing. (I come from an area where all the media is represented by my skin color and sexuality .... that does not make my daily life brighter or reduce the people with whom I have a conflict) This man/woman being in news brought as much change as Miley Cyrus' occational skin show does (People expressed their opinion and all of it would be forgotten when the next shocking news arrives) ... True change will be seen when we see a Transgender Doctor save lives or a Transgender Scientist discover a cure, or some actual medium like the Imitation Game that shows the importance of the downtrodden in world changing events ... that is when people will reconsider their stances and see them as necessary and important ..... otherwise being represented in the media for chopping off genitals and having breast implants are nothing to be proud of and nothing worth looking twice at ... in fact that makes her and her peer seem like a laughing stock.

1. No because that's not the case.

2. Never said that was the case.

3. It ties into the concept of representation as a whole, it's not about the race. Don't separate one piece of an argument from the rest of it when the rest of it ties into it, makes your address to it a bit irrelevant.

4. Okay? It might not be the most important thing in the world, but it's still important. Here's the beautiful thing about having an entity as large as the media and a mind as powerful as the human brain: You can focus on more than one important thing at a time. Amazing, I know.

And may I ask what your area is, your skin color and I assume you're straight?

This is hardly comparable to Miley Cyrus' dribble. And even if it doesn't constantly happen 24/7 doesn't matter, the fact that support for the community was gathered at all is what matters. When this topic blows over and stops being reported so heavily, the people voicing support for transsexuals and their community are gonna keep doing it, just in other ways. Doesn't make it any less important though.

Bullshit, straight bullshit. Let me copy and paste what I said in the other thread.

What's so ****ing courageous about turning into a women? People's judgement over you ? I'm sorry but in world where rights are everywhere , and especially in america, that should be no problem. Well, unless you're so insecure to the point that you do actually care about people being disgusted about you, which then means that you need help from a psychologist, not a surgery to change your gender. Burce made it clear that he always had that female side and that he was waiting for it to come out, meaning he waited till homosexuality and gender bending became bit tolerated among the community in order to change, which is pretty pathetic and smart actually, but no way near courageous .

"Sometimes that courage is demonstrated over the course of a lifetime and sometimes it is demonstrated in a single act that shines a light on an important contemporary issue," the statement read. "At all times, there are many worthy candidates."
Oh is that so? So basically I was fighting against laziness ever since I was young, but now I finally able to do my work without any laziness thanks to my outstanding courage, I mean shit, it made an impact on people around me and made them more considerate.

But where my award at?:lol such bullshit.

"E! has released the first promo for a new docuseries about Jenner, "I Am Cait," which will premiere July 26. Details about the eight-part series have been scant until now.

Jenner, who revealed her new identity Monday on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine, is shown doing her makeup and discussing her new life."

Yes.

It took a lot of courage for a wallowed out husk of an actor to chop his penis off and undergo surgery in order to launch a new TV reality series.

They are out of ideas for reality shows, so rather than find a real trans-sexual to create a reality show out of (probably because most are afflicted with substantial behavioral issues and display a low degree of social functionality) - they get a tool from hollyweird to undergo surgery in order to justify a show where a man pretends to be a woman while commenting about how 'different' it is in an attempt to give viewers a new and different variety of trash to cram into their head.

That's my take on it. It is, basically, a marketing strategy and anyone who is truly concerned about the welfare of people who identify as trans-sexual should be deeply offended.

Though any reality is that there are always multiple 'runners up' for these types of awards in terms of nominations. It's not a transparent process and any claims to know what are going on inside of the nomination processes should be taken with a grain of salt - for any award nomination, not just this one.

No, they didn't.

Well, this depends upon what we classify as "white," since the label has really only applied to those of European descent since the 60s in America.

That said, modern technology could be said to be a composite of many different efforts by many different people. Thomas Edison didn't invent the light bulbs we use, today - many of which use recombinant halide reactions, but he did facilitate the concept that was later adapted. Likewise, his work translated over into the vacuum tube - which was considered a minor curiosity by the man who invented it before another individual made the first vacuum-triode amplifier matched to a radio receiver.

Steel traces its origins all the way back to the Germanic regions following the collapse of Rome - but it's hard to trace back who, exactly, contributed to all but the most recent advances in steel and its associated processing. Chemistry has certainly played a role.

Information and technology are like lego pieces that people design or put together, then borrow from each other to build even more complicated and elaborate structures. To say that any one person or race can claim responsibility for things is a bit of a silly idea.

Just because the Germans were known for making exceptional pianos doesn't mean I, as a person of mostly-German ethnicity, am going to start turning out awesome pianos. My family culture conveyed many principles that would be important (ideas of wood working, manufacturing, mathematics, etc) - but it's not like I can claim some kind of validity to the piano industry because I'm German.

Substantiate then.

3. It ties into the concept of representation as a whole, it's not about the race. Don't separate one piece of an argument from the rest of it when the rest of it ties into it, makes your address to it a bit irrelevant.

The Comparison with chionese media and all does tie into it ... if you noticed.

4. Okay? It might not be the most important thing in the world, but it's still important. Here's the beautiful thing about having an entity as large as the media and a mind as powerful as the human brain: You can focus on more than one important thing at a time. Amazing, I know.

So what results has this amazing combination has produced?

And may I ask what your area is, your skin color and I assume you're straight?

Indian, Brown, Lower Caste, Decendants of the Bengal Riot Refugee, Straight. Enough details?

This is hardly comparable to Miley Cyrus' dribble. And even if it doesn't constantly happen 24/7 doesn't matter, the fact that support for the community was gathered at all is what matters.

It actually matches with Miley Cyrus scenario ... you get support from people who already support it as the media would even show dog shit dry if that fetched them ratings and revenue.

When this topic blows over and stops being reported so heavily, the people voicing support for transsexuals and their community are gonna keep doing it, just in other ways. Doesn't make it any less important though.

Keep doing it within their neat circles you mean ... and effectively producing little change. Have you yet realized how the Media just whores for people like you and would ditch you the moment they find a customer that would pay more?
