    Seems this place kinda died

I started getting on this site around 10 years ago just to watch new episodes of Naruto when they came out. I noticed there were a lot of serious threads about depression and anxiety, so after about a year I made an account to help kids. I never really got into the deep dive Naruto discussions...

    Seems this place kinda died

It was rooted in predominantly Naruto-base(d) conversations. The shows long gone and kids are long grown up.

    I was lied too.

No the guy who said he didn’t believe in god, I think his name was Eren.

Do animals have mental disabilities too

Animals live in the moment, and their limbic system detects threat. They experience anxiety because of that. In rat studies they have repeatedly initiated trauma response (anxiety without ability to flee, fight, or freeze) and can note PTSD symptoms. We also can interfere with the dopaminergic...

    I was lied too.

I’ve been back and forth on that throughout my life. At this point even as a Buddhist I believe there probably is a god. I found scripture the other day doing Sanskrit translations that corroborated that. In meditation you realize there’s something bigger than you, people just describe it...

The rate of suicide in sweden for men went down when viagra became more affordable

I think I had the moniker NB Psychologist back when we had titles. You have an excellent memory. I'm working as a psychologist in prison system now.

Do you think it's difficult to be a good person?

Being good is too subjective. If you define good as hedonistic discipline; it can be very challenging. It does get easier over time to withhold pleasure seeking activity; dependence on dopamine release can be decreased with cessation and/or moderation. Cravings and need decrease when pleasure...

    The purge is happening

I've given my tenant slack because she lost her job. She has two years of paying on time though. I have no obligation to do that. The last tenant I had destroyed my house, cost me $12,000 in repairs, and fled in the middle of the night. It took me a month to enter my own home once the eviction...

Do you like to talk about your issues with others

It depends on the level of impairment that you are experiencing from your issues. Most problems people can take and shrug off through their own coping skills. If something is causing significant impairment, and you aren't able to manage it on your own I would recommend professional care...

    How do people know stuff?

Because of the internet most information is readily available. What you find are people who know nothing about a subject, but they Google it to sound knowledgeable over social media. There's something called Dunning-Kruger Effect that you may find interesting. Basically, the less people know...

[Discussion] Why did you chose your field of interest

That made me laugh. Sadly I'm a mere mortal and a flawed one at that. I didn't think my profession would come as a huge surprise after I answered your other thread about therapists. I pursued it out of social interest. Gesellschaft was always a philosophical ideology I was interested in. I...

[Discussion] Why did you chose your field of interest

I have three primary fields of study: Psychology, Philosophy, and History. They are all one in the same. Human history is the study of reoccurring psychological patterns driven by varying philosophies. When I was a young adult I worked as a network administrator. I had no real passion for it...

Is it possible you CANT trust therapists?

I almost didn't want to comment because there is so much ignorance prevalent in this thread, and I don't have much confidence that any wisdom would ameliorate that. I believe it's worth trying to explain. I will preface this by saying that I am a psychologist for the Department of Corrections...

[Discussion] Did anyone of you ever attempted suicide and survived it?

He means that if people actually attempted suicide and succeeded they would be unable to reply to this post. He was joking on the way the title was written. Suicide is a very permanent solution to a temporary problem in most cases. Most of the time it is an act of desperation brought out...

How far would you go for friendship

Befriending people with different beliefs, values, backgrounds, etc. is good. People who pressure you to act against your values, morals, principles are not friends. Violating those will create cognitive dissonance, and engaging in behaviors that go against your beliefs can cause emotional...

    New rules are too harsh

It'll be good grammatical practice using more appropriate adjectives and nouns. You'll find your point will be much more concise using descriptive words other than "stuff," "things," and expletives. It also tends to make one seem more mature and knowledgeable.
