A rematch is just another match. It doesn't mean Shanks won. When Mihawk came to that island with Luffy's poster Shanks asked "you came for a rematch?", meaning that Shanks won previous time....

We haven't seen Shanks fighting or even unleash his full strength. We just saw him draw his sword much like Whitbeard always draws out his Bisento.Doesn't really matter. Kaku had three different fighting styles, and he's still a swordsman. He had two separate alternative combat styles that gave him an advantage over Zoro, someone whose only fighting style is swordsmanship. Who won?
A bisento isn't a sword. Shanks' primary style of combat has been shown to be swordsmanship. Compare the amount of conflicts he's been in that he grabbed his sword to the amount where he didn't grab his sword. And even if isn't his primary means of fighting, as long as it's a consistent and regular means, he's a swordsman.
Same scenario with Shanks. He can have 15 different abilities, he's still a swordsman, so for now, the manga points to him being weaker than Mihawk to some degree.
I know bur why'd he want a rematch if he already won?A rematch is just another match. It doesn't mean Shanks won.
It can be argued that WB's Bisento is one-half of his main fighting style, which is the Gura combined with tons of raw physical power, which backs up his Bisento. He utilized it many times in tandem with his DF powers, and at times attacked powerful people in lieu of it. WB's Bisento is far from a throwaway combat style. We haven't seen Shanks fighting or even unleash his full strength. We just saw him draw his sword much like Whitbeard always draws out his Bisento.
When Whitebeard gets serious he puts his Bisento down. In manga, has there ever been a character who went full power in the beginning of the fight? I can't think of any off the top of my head.
And again, my example with Gai and him being known as the strongest taijutsu user when Sasuke could still beat him.
Him being the best swordsmen does not mean he's the greatest fighter there ever was.
Because Shanks is a coy jokester and wasn't being literal?I know bur why'd he want a rematch if he already won?
That's different. You don't consider him a swordsman because an external power independent of his sword but along with his sword.
By this logic, Zoro isn't a swordsman because he uses Haki, an external power independent of his swords.
"The Best" is better than the rest.It can be argued that WB's Bisento is one-half of his main fighting style, which is the Gura combined with tons of raw physical power, which backs up his Bisento. He utilized it many times in tandem with his DF powers, and at times attacked powerful people in lieu of it. WB's Bisento is far from a throwaway combat style.
WB has used his Bisento in serious fights all the time. He chose to use it instead of the Gura to intercept Kizaru. He used it against Akainu and had their first major clash with it. He used it in tandem with his DF for the entirety of the war, used it to incapacitate Teach, which a Gura blast failed to do, and chose to clash with another Yonko using it, and struck at Aokiji with it. You think Whitebeard would do so when using his Bisento is just some toy to him?
Gai was called the best Taijutsu user. There's a difference between best Taijutsu user and strongest Taijutsu. The former directly indicates that someone is the most skilled at doing something, while the latter is someone is the overall strongest of everyone in this category.
When did I say this?

If you say so.@bold
That literally makes no sense. Now you're just paraphrasing for your own benefit.
Because there's no way Mihawk didn't either. You're also completely omitting a big factor. The last time Mihawk and Shanks fought was before the start of the series. Shanks had both arms. You're assuming he hasn't gotten stronger.
That's not retreating. Also, Mihawk retreats when Shanks arrives during the war.
And lastly, since you're all about "manga facts" and titles, let me just post this scan in.
It clearly states that there are numerous pirates but the Yonko are the strongest of all. Mihawk is a pirate. Do you deny facts?

As Bogard(I think it was Bogard) once pointed out, the official translation says that the Yonko are the four most powerful pirates in the New World, which Mihawk does not reside in. A Yonko's power also includes their forces and fleets.
If you say so.
Because there's no way Mihawk didn't either.

I'm not the only one saying so. Everyone who replied to your comment said the same thing. You're obviously wrong. If you say so.

But Luffy isn't stronger than Doflamingo.I'm not the only one saying so. Everyone who replied to your comment said the same thing. You're obviously wrong.
Luffy trained for 2 years and became more powerful than Doflamingo who was originally stronger than him. Shanks progressed to the point of a Yonko. I think it's a safe bet that he got more powerful.
It's not retreating? So walking away from a battle is what then?
You'll have to prove that. Otherwise you're saying that Yonko aren't the strongest pirates which is ludicrous.
He has multiple ships. But doesn't Shanks has just one ship? Him and his crew? Makes you wonder how strong these guys are.
LMAOOOI'm not the only one saying so. Everyone who replied to your comment said the same thing. You're obviously wrong.
Shanks was a Yonko since the start of the series.Luffy trained for 2 years and became more powerful than Doflamingo who was originally stronger than him. Shanks progressed to the point of a Yonko. I think it's a safe bet that he got more powerful.
He wasn't contracted to fight Shanks. It wasn't his duty. It's already been shown many times the Shichibukai, particularly Mihawk, barely comply with the WG's demands. Shanks was extra, so he had no obligation to get involved. It's not retreating? So walking away from a battle is what then?
Strongest due to their fleet and the strongest IN THE NEW WORLD. Mihawk resides in Paradise. You'll have to prove that. Otherwise you're saying that Yonko aren't the strongest pirates which is ludicrous.
Fair analysis. But my point still stands. Not every character trains the same way or progresses tot he same level in the same amount of time. But Luffy isn't stronger than Doflamingo.
He defeated Doflamingo with Law's help and even then he needed 10 min break with everyone elses help to defeat Doffy.
In 1v1 situation Doffy is the winner.
I love this. You're such a hypocrite. He has multiple ships.
LMAOOO
Shanks was a Yonko since the start of the series.
Also, Luffy was not more powerful than Doffy. But, for the sake of argument, let's say he is. Doffy and Luffy determine the growth rate of everyone else in the series now?
He wasn't contracted to fight Shanks. It wasn't his duty. It's already been shown many times the Shichibukai, particularly Mihawk,
Strongest due to their fleet and the strongest IN THE NEW WORLD. Mihawk resides in Paradise.
Well I think of Shanks very highly.Fair analysis. But my point still stands. Not every character trains the same way or progresses tot he same level in the same amount of time.
Shanks was given Roger's hat for a reason.
Strongest pirates in the New World.I love this. You're such a hypocrite.
Kaido is called strongest creature. You tell everyone he's the strongest pirate alive.
Yonko called strongest of all pirates. You deny it.
You don't have a scan to prove it.Strongest pirates in the New World.
Punctuation is key my friend. And that sentence, depending on how it is written in the manga, can go two ways.Strongest pirates in the New World.
