After defeating pain he should have been promoted Jounnin, not even Chunnin. Hell, even Sannin would be the right title for Naruto right now

Well it's not like he has had to take any examinations or even to be told that he is formally promoted (if he gets exempt from the exams). I wanna see him get put into the Chuunin exams and rip through all the little Genin lol that would be fun. Have him win the tourney and get promoted to Chuunin. Then I wanna see what the Jounin exams are all about since they haven't said anything about them. Neji was able to pass them as were Temari and Kankuro... Naruto shouldn't have too much trouble unless it requires intelligence besides battle smarts (like calculus or something).

hes a sage thats better than any title the leaf can give him.
think about it Jiraya never wore a leaf headband, mastering sage techs and becoming a sage is way better.

i dont think sannin is even a rank it was a title given by that dude to jiraya orochimaru and tsunade.
and naruto is still a genin because has to take the tests like everyone else, i think....
and i dont think sage is a rank either >_>
He`s still Genin because he hasn`t have time to take the Chunnin exam again, and now that the war is coming, he will probably never get the chance.
BUT What`s cool, is that he will probably become the first in Naruto historie that goes from Gennin to Kage, way to go Kishi!

don't forget that kishi may have been forshadowing when naruto took the chuunin exam the first time, naruto said that even if he failed the test and remained a genin forever he will still be hokage...this might predict that he will become hokage while still being a genin...
Every time the Chunnin exams role on he isn't in the village or he is training. It will be great to see Naruto go on these war missions. It would suck because his rank will slow down his progress, Jounnin are in charge of really advanced missions but Naruto is a power house and will be needed on these missions especially since they will be using buji and dead zombie akatsui members. Also being a genin fits Naruto he is a support type ninja a powerful back up. It never mentioned that one has to be Jounnin to be hokage it was just said that the hokage were the strongest shinobi in the village which currently Naruto is.

That only proves how ninja ranks don't mean anything. Well, usually if you're a chuunin - you suck ass. When you're a genin - you're either are uberstrong like Naruto or Kabuto, or suck even more

Because he was not in konoha for 3 years and he didn't go in the chunin exams again. Just wait, he might change rank farther in the series. that's y he is still genin. It's lik saying "Why is Sasuke still genin?". Same reason. Y is Sakura chunin, because she went in the exams and passed. That is my reason.
