Why do people pity Sasuke but not Obito

kishi should have gone into more detail with everything regarding obitos life, parents, akatski, etc, but we saw more of his backstory than we did of madaras.

Obito should've had a larger backstory, it seems kinda extreme to destroy the world because of 1 girl. If he was like Naruto and had no friends and was psychologically distrubed since he was a kid, that would've been better in addition to Rin's death.

dude obito was an orphan just like naruto, he was the idiot of the class too, he basically was a social outcast untill he met rin, that´s why rin meant so much to him

Obito lost a girl that didnt even like him... and was friendzoned by her yet decided to destroy the world cause of it...

I don't pity but I understand. He, like the countless other uchiha before him, was a victim of the clan's curse. Other people might be less tolerant with obito because he started his spiral into darkness because he was "friend-zoned", which is not the full explanation. He saw first hand the person he loved, getting killed by the guy she loved (who he died saving) in order to prevent her becoming a puppet. It was set up by madara in a way that would ensure that he would fall prey to the curse.
