Why do people pity Sasuke but not Obito

I mean, I know Sasuke's story is sad, I'm not going to say it isn't, losing your family to your own brother must be horrifying. The thing is, why do so many people show Sasuke so much sympathy and are so forgiving of him (due to his past) yet hate on Obito and don't show him nearly as much, if any, sympathy. See, my main issue with Sasuke was, honestly, he had someone to turn to, he could've gotten help. Think about it, the entire Leaf Village loved him, he found a friend in Naruto, and he was a prodigy. I'm not saying these replace a family but there was still people like Kakashi who went out of their way to extend their arms to help him. My issue is that, he brushed them all away, he could've gotten help, hell, people actually tried to help him, but he still gave into hatred anyway.

In contrast, you know who Obito had to turn to? Madara, friggin Madara, an evil, bitter old man slowly dying in a cave. So, whereas Sasuke could turn to a kind and compassionate man like Kakashi, or his friend Naruto, the only person Obito could turn to was the Naruto version of the Emperor. Also, Sasuke, unlike a Obito (and every other villain) took 6 years after his tragedy to decide he didn't want to be good anymore, Obito turned directly after his tragedy, he didn't have time to get help, like Sasuke did.

And worse of all is the current situation, Obito turned because seeing Rin die confirmed to him Madara's words (the things he fought against for the months he spent in rehabilitation), that he (Obito) could be a hero saving as much people all he wants, but, at the end of the day, he was superfluous, one day he would die and the people he sought to protect would no longer be safe, and, in the end, his life was as unimportant as the innocent girl sacrificed for a deeply evil plot. I see things from Sasuke's point of view also, that the cruel, twisted way that the shinobi world works would wind up having a 13 year old boy kill his entire family, in an attempt to save people. So, I get where they're both coming from, the thing is, Sasuke knows the full history, he knows about Kaguya and Indra and Ashura, the Curse of Hatred and how it began, he knows how the twisted system began, and, his current plans will simply put him on the same path of Indra, the path that created all of this to begin with, while the only history and point of view Obito knows of is that taught to him by Madara, the dark, nihilistic view of the world, that's why I have little sympathy for Sasuke at this point.

I want to hear your thoughts, please be honest and at least attempt to be polite, I don't care if you disagree with me, and I don't care if you're a Sasuke fan, however, if you disagree with my points, I will engage you in discussion, at least to see why. Also, please go for intellectual conversation, I don't care for spelling, just, please no "OMG, SASUKE SUX" or "OMG, OBITO IS A PEDO".

Too long read , just going to comment on the title : lots of people pity obito.. if anything most people hate sasuke. I think you confused hate with pity bro.

Because the Sasuke fan base is 8X larger than the Obito fan base.

Sasuke lost his family, clan, and brother

Obito lost a girl that didnt even like him... and was friendzoned by her yet decided to destroy the world cause of it...

You didn't read what I said, first, Rin was the first, and possibly one of the only people to actually care about him (he was the Naruto of his day), second, my point was Sasuke had multiple mentors and wise people to turn to, such as Kakashi, who specifically went out of his way to council him, Obito only had Madara.

neither are pitied in my eyes. sasuke is a crybaby and obito is a bigger crybaby. they each deal with personal loss in a spastic volatile manner. it just took obito longer to get tnj'd

Obito's childhood trauma can't even compare to what Sasuke went through, Sasuke's past is just simply way deeper.

Why does everyone count this as a small loss? By the time he "died", pretty much the only people that cared about him were Minato, Kushina, Kakashi, and Rin, with Rin being pretty much the first person to care.

Except he had many opportunities to get help and chose not to, not to mention, Obito's life wasn't too different from Naruto, except he lost the one real connection he had with another person (romantically or otherwise).

i think you hit the nail in the head, that´s exactly what i think, while sasuke had all the reasons to become bad, he didnt remained alone, he got help but didnt take it and chose the wrong path, while obito remained alone and didnt have guidance. Pretty good analysis

This^^^^^^^U_U

His entire motive for going on this murderous rampage against the world is just too retarded.
I'm Sorry but I'll never have respect for Obito.

Anybody notice that he only directly kills people when he has the seal on his heart? After Kakashi removed it he could've easily killed everyone as a juubi jin but he was just trying to break Naruto's will and process what he is doing is right But Then accepts the error of his wats and helps Naruto and Sasuke
