Why do people consider FTG speed?

I put speed and reflexes as separate categories. Minato is indeed fast, but not faster than Naruto. However, Minato has the best reflexes in the manga

WHOA!! now naruto being faster than minato that a bit far you steppin'. Minato vs Naruto in speed is easily in Minato's favor. The speed at which Kashi mistaked Naruto for Minato Is Bm a temp. state or mode. While Minato runs around at the same level naturally. Thats just like saying when Sasuke fought Gaara....Lee and Sasuke where equally as fast, even thought sasuke was to the max while that Lee on natural speed.

When I say Naruto speed, I mean his full capacity speed....BM mode not base naruto.

Getting from one point to another is what they mean by fast. They dont care how you got there its just fast.

Minato base speed and reflexes plus FTG is what makes him extremely deadly

Whenever someone makes a thread about who's the fastest, people always say it's Minato due to FTG.....FTG is teleportation, it's not Minato himself moving.

It's like saying if a 1997 honda was racing against a Bugatti Veyron in a circuit, and the honda won because it took a shortcut when the Bugatti did the whole lap

That doesn't make the honda faster

This terrible analogy was just to give an example of when people compare Naruto or A's speed to Minato's and that's why I don't consider FTG to be speed.

Minato does indeed have the best reflexes in the manga, but he doesn't have the fastest bodily movement speed.

Anyone else agree? Disagree?
Isn't speed calculated by distance x time?
Technically it would be considered speed

but teleportation isnt speed

teleportation is like being driven by a car....its the car that's fast, not the driver

That driver is still slower than the really fast runner.

distance is still being covered regardless (not in a literal sense)

so if Minato was sitting down, and FTG across a country while sitting down.....you would consider that speed?

He didn't run, he didn't even move, he just had a seal transport him. It wasn't his physical body doing the work

Like someone has posted, doesn't matter how he got there, he just did.
I can figure that the speed of light is like that, our eyes can't comprehend how fast it is and just cause we don't see, doesn't mean light speed isn't fast (everyone knws this tho)

The formula for speed is
distance x time
So long as he meets those two requirements, then it is speed

teleportation doesn't travel, it warps that's why it can't be considered speed

Light travel so fast we can't even see it, it moves and covers a distance

Teleportation is when space bends two points and creates a distance of zero between those points.....no distance, means no speed

basic concept of a wormhole

He has the best base speed. Naruto's KCM, Ay's V2, those are all boosts.

In raw foot speed, Minato is #1.

Well; speed= Distance/Time; Minato spends least time due to teleportation; so he has the highest speed, but being "fast" is another defination; the speed/velocity misconceptions are probably caused by translation. Speed is a scaler quantity while velocity is a vectorel quantity; like the OP explained before; the teleporation bends space so "attaches" two different locations; but for a quantity to being vectorel; it requires a certain direction; so it has to be a travel between x spot to y spot; while space/time ninjutsu makes two different spots the same x or y spot by attaching them. So we can say that Minato has the highest speed; but if we talk about velocity things change.

I agree in some way. For example, give Konohamaru the ability to use FTG, and he suddenly becomes the fastest shinobi in the world, even though his base speed is not even close to the Raikage's (who doesn't use any tricks to be that quick).

But Minato's base speed is still better than most shinobi, so that makes him difficult to deal with.

Raikage said That he is the fastest shinobi now minato is dead, So Raikage and the manga thinks FTG does count as speed.

Meaning if mianto was alive, he would have that title, Unless your saying Minato's "Foot speed" is even greater than v2 A?.

I don't get what you meant from your second sentence, it sounded like you contradicted yourself

But I was just giving reasons as to why FTG doesn't count as speed....yes raikage said that for the sake of the manga

but I mean in general, speed is not teleportation

- Because it's considered as such in the manga. Kishimoto himself said that Minato is the fastest ninja who ever existed. Never go against the autor portrayal

- What people like you fail to realise is that launching kunais is one of the fastest thing to ever exist in this manga and Minato can launch plenty of kunais whenever he wants in the direction where he wants. Thanks to this, he can freely teleport from one marking to another faster than anyone

- It seems that the real working of FTG is still unknown for us even until now. Lately we've seen Minato teleport Hiruzen in a complete different location than him and that with no seals at all, so it seems that contrary to the popular belief, this jutsu doesn't require kunais or seals to be used. Now why does he use kunais? I have a theory about it, just read the link in my sig

Well according to my opinion Minato has Teleporting technique and obito has too both has fast buh real speed other then teleporting are posed by following:
1) Naruto in BM or KM mode
2) Raikage in lightning armour
3) Bee in 8 tail form
4) Lee and guy after they open 5 gates

Speed is distance traveled in a given set of time. So, yes, teleportation IS speed.

As for your terrible analogy... Yes I would say the Honda got there faster
