you didnt see the battle between the 3rd hokage and orochimaru? he took on hashirama and tobirama together with oro and was able to hold his power aganst them. proves how strong he was then, and how much more stronger he was in his prime, he was called god of shinobi get over it

He has shown Fire and earth, I would say it's safe to assume he can also use Water, Possibly Wind aswell.

Most common answer from people will be because the manga says so.
The manga says a lot of things that are contradicted later on like izanagi requiring senju and uchiha dna yet uchiha spammed the shit out of it without the benefit of senju dna and thus a contradiction to the previous statement.

let me guess he defeated him already so he can do it again and are you comparing hype because if you are comparing characters strength by how much of a hype they get then your evidence is not that accurate.We seen what hiruzen in his old age by defeating hashirama and tobimaru and that is a fact and proof of his strength.We have yet to see proof of hashirama strength the only one we seen is of him getting beat by hiruzen and other character using his powers and that is not even evidence of his own strength cause madara + hashirama cell and danzo + hashirama cell.If you are comparing characters strength by hype then minato>tobimaru 3rd raikage>bee kakashi>kakazu tsunade>A.
