Funny thing is, he didn't. All of those quotes are worded in a way that makes them completely opinion-based. That means that they aren't definitive. Which means that Hiruzen cannot 100% be said to be stronger.

What the hell is this? A>B>C logic does work in the case of overpowered characters(which is what prime hiruzen supposedly is) because their powerlevels are so high. Since madara shits on hiruzen then hashirama would kill him effortlessly.

I think everyone is misinterpreting the meaning in terms of power when it comes to hashi (This is MO by the way) hashi had the necessary tools chakra an techs. To deal with madara, his mokuton was able to supress biju chakra an could be used in any scale of defense and offence. Which is also a factor in how he beat madara + kurama an susanoo. Hizuren on the other hand would be harder to restrain with mokuton thanks to Enma virtually makin hizuren a tougher opponent.
