Actually it was a combination of several people at fault.Tobirama's for segregating the Uchiha,Madara's for attacking the village multiple times,Danzo's for sabotaging the only chance of ending the coup peacefully,Black Zetsu's for manipulating everyone.

Technically in a way he is responsible for what happened years ago since he was the clan leader, however the real blame is BZ who started the hate/feud between the clans (Senju and Uchiha). Hashirama still didn't fully quell the anger from the Uchiha even after they made an alliance, although it was years leader that the Uchiha thought about causing a coup d'état.

some people say the uchiha turned their backs on him but that's INCORRECT its the opposite he turned his back on THEM. they were tired of war fighting and dying pointlessly they finally achieved peace but he their LEADER tried to tell them to leave and abandon this peace which would obviously lead to more conflict. madara the LEADER tried to put them under more despair so ofcourse they ignored him.

Your leader, the man who agreed to the peace, later tells you that this peace is a farce and will lead to your destruction when the brother of the man he signed the peace with comes into power. The same man who's been leading the clan for years and protected it comes to give you a warning and you all tell him to basically **** off? How ridiculous is that? The uchiha got what they deserved for abandoning their leader.
