when he s giving the gift he s not a clone lol.he was fighting as a clone on the gaara recovery arc.but when he gave gift it was from sasuke recovery arc.and shapeshifting is nagatos ability.i dont think he used his power for itachi to just meet naruto.thers nothing mentioned abt that

I think the power that itatchi gave naruto is the ability to seal sasukes eyes for ever, if you recall he said i hope the time comes when you don't end up using it or what ever. probably because itatchi new that madara would corrupt sasuke and turn him agaisn't the hidden leaf.

We probably will find out when Naruto finishes learning the Tailed-Beast Ball. Itachi was resurected by IWR so he will probably talk with Naruto and Sasuke. I think what NRSo6p said was a good suggestion, so Itachi's yin chakra merges with Naruto's yang chakra to produce a new jutsu that can kill Sasuke. Itachi doesn't want Sasuke to die but if it gets too extreme (against Konoha too much and breaking the peace of the world, which Itachi worked to protect)... I think thats why Itachi said he is hoping the day never comes when Naruto has to use it.

We dont know if it was the real Itachi or a kagebunshin which gave naruto the "gift", it happened just prior to the sasuke vs Itachi fight, and we all know Itachi planed to die at Sasukes hands. He also knew Madara would get to Sasuke after the fight, and that the outcome of their conversation could go against Konoha or the way Itachi hoped, against Madara... Because of this Itachi knew that if Sasuke would go against Konoha, only one would be able to beat or turn Sasuke around, he also knew that Naruto would need something extra for that fight. What that thing is we dont know, it could be all from the Sharingan it self, some way to put out Amaterasu, a way to stop Tsukyomi, or a hologram of Itachi him self with the true story about what happened in Konoha, with Itachi and his fealings.

The reason for the gift must have something to do with turning Sasuke against Madara, so that the two main characters of this manga, together, will defeat Madara at full strenght.
