Jiraya almost died against 4 tail naruto yet kakashi and gai are taking on multiple bijuu in their full forms, it´s obvious who´s better.
I was very surprised the first time because i found it strange like "shouldn´t the bijuus whoop them?" and now i finally remembered why i thought like that, it´s because both oro and j-man almost died against 4-tail naruto yet the eternal rivals are holding their own against alot of bijuus.
They´ve surpassed the sannins and anyone who says otherwise is trolling.

I can't compare them to Jiraiya yet. They're hands down better than Orochimaru. Count how many fights we've seen him win throughout the story. Tsunade might have a good fighting chance because she hits hard enough to create craters

Well, did you see how the sannin all have that air of arrogant attitude about everything when they were first introduced, Tsunade called Itachi and Kisame low-lifes when she herself lost to Kabuto.
In shippuden Itachi and Kisame would´ve owned her with ease.
J-man and oro almost died cuz of 4-tail naruto yet kakashi and Gai were holding their own against 5 full-bijuus.

I don't think Kakashi or guy have surpassed Orochimaru or Jman but maybe Tsunade ( battle ) .
People saying that guy is really strong because he beat the great Hoshigaki Kisame with his gate 7 so he can beat almost everyone. That is wrong ! Kisame's style of fighting is based on soaking up all of the opponents chakra hense making him vulnerable. Guy is the perfect man to beat kisame because he uses only taijutsu so not needing chakra. And even his long range attacks don't need chakra ( Hiru Dora ).
Kakashi has improved alot stamina vise in Part 2 and is very smart but I still think Jman is still stronger ( sage mode etc )
Orochimaru is a genius and is practically unbeatble . His stamina is uncomparable too .
I think Orochimaru and Jman if they were fighting in this war for the allied forces would help alot more than guy and kakashi. They have this Aura , they ARE the Legendary Sannin ! I think they would be more important than the Kages. This is what they are ! You can't compare kakashi or GUy to Oro or Jman , not yet !

i thought you were going to say they've become the Krillins of the manga, in that, despite their very best efforts and amazing personal accomplishments, they can't ever reach the level of the primary players of the manga any longer. Now, if you were saying that, I'd be on board, seeing as the core characters of the manga are getting inconceivably OP, leaving all other formerly major characters to quietly accept being downgraded to supporting cast.
