No, Itachi can take Jiraiya....can't takee everything Itachi sys as true, as Kabuto pointed out, Itachi is the master of deception. He lied every step of the way throughout his life for the beterrment of Konoha.He lied to Kisame to talk them out of attacking Jiraiya. Itachi couldn't afford to take out Konoha's most powerful shinobi given their weakened state. Plus we know for a fact that Jiraiya had an inside man in Akatsuki; and we know that Itachi joined Akatsuki for the sole purpose of protecting Konoha and keeping an eye on Akatsuki ensuring they don't make a move on the village. Logic only dicates that Itachi has to be the inside man giving Jiraiya his information. So Itachi did what he could to avoid a confrontation his his contact guy. Not to mention the fact that Itachi is a pacifist and wishes to avoid fights all together iif he could. And if he couldn't avoid killing. A fight with a Sannin wouldn't end well given the level of the fight.

good story. but that was never mentioned in the manga. so this is pure assumption.

The kusanagi sword can pierce any mortal item. It's only thing it can't are supernatural powers/beings/items such as Perfect Susano'o & the Yata Mirror

Amatarasu is the power of the gods. So yea. Until it's been proven wrong otherwise. There's been nothing else powerful enough to stop it. it can even burn that to which has the power of fire

what manga are you reading? A samurai's armor is enough to save a random fodder from getting "burned" by amaterasu. so much for the great fire tech.

People shouldn't believe that whole "It seals everything" or "It deflects anything"...
Kishimoto said that Haku travels at the speed of light.
He does those kinds of things all the time to make characters look cool.
But, if needed, he'll just do a big PNJ and say: "Screw logic. Screw what I said earlier. It isn't valid anymore..."

yeah technically every jutsu that uses chakra came from the god tree. but if you'll read and understand what he meant by saying that, he wants to point out that amaterasu is different and on another level as if it was a power of a "god" that no mortal man can overcome, which is of course not true.

since all jutsu came from the god tree, then amaterasu, is no different than a regular katon.(just the strongest version of the tech)
