OT - after you can be independent live your life alone.

Independent = Owning my own home, being able to support myself with my career... or being mentally independent?

My mom owes me a lot. But I won't go into detail. I'm tired of her yelling at me, controlling my life decisions. I'm 23 now. What should I do? I'm living with her at least until I graduate with my associates degree. Should I leave soon? Or after I get my degree? Or should I just get a postal job or join the military?? Help me please!

...So, instead of you're mother making life decisions for you, you want us, a bunch of strangers....deciding for YOU, what to do with your life. You can't even make a life choice for yourself. Given the circumstances it's obvious what you need to do.

Don't, at age 23, go on some website full of adolescents, asking for advice about an adult situation. You'd think...at age 23...you'd have the answers.

Here's my solution. Grow up. People usually go to college, so they can get a better job, SO they can provide for themselves. What's they point in staying around living with someone who wants to treat you like a child?

In addition,

talk is cheap until you actually have the financial stability to be able to live on your own. So...what CAN you do.

Any kind of independence is good. You should have had the last one already, the first will come in time. Until then behave yourself - and is not like you can be a bad guy after your own independence day.
Good luck ^^

about this topic i feel like peopl might be judging the OP a bit too much since he didnt go into full detail or at least from what i saw he didnt for all we know he could have a mom that just takes all his stuff and sells it who knows.

The point is in these situations is to save up and move out then a few weeks/months/years later given enough time the relation ship between him and his mother should heal. ive had other friends who i have given the same advice to and its also worked for them if you can take yourself out of the bad situation and give it time things should improve if its trully too much to bear try to crash with a friend for a while but other wise build up some money and move out when you feel its a good time too.

Also i will add just because they are your parents and want the best for you does NOT by any means give them the right to control the rest of your life for you at a certain point they have to realize your too old for their shit and that they have one choice you can either leave and still talk to them or you can leave and completely cut ties with them and the whole my house my rules shit doesnt mean they get to bully you around because they own the house thats only supposed to be guidlines for what you can do under their roof but and has nothing to do with how you choose to live your own life this specifically applies to people id say about 20 or older 18 is a shaky age cause of college starting and some people still want to stay with their parents to have more time with them and or to save up money for later because shit be expensive. All in all its what ever you guys want to do

First off your mom gave you life she owes you nothing. Today generation feels to entitled to shit. Suck it up deal with your mom for now get your education and deal with it. The yelling and what she gives you ain't shit compared to what this world going to give you cause she loves you the real world don't . You will appreciate her when you mature and get out on your on

Man **** your parents. Life is way too short to worry about them. Be like Sasuke and carve your own path in life; even if that means cutting bonds. It would be best if you stayed with her until you got your associates degree, what's better than free food, water, and shelter? Just ignore her constant *****ing and play some video games or something, that's what I do.

Neither of you owe anything to each other. She forced you into this word, you didn't ask to be born. The truth is that people think they should love their parents no matter. I think that's kinda true except if your parent is being a total ***** all the time or abusive then they don't have any right to your love.

In conclusion, join the military if that's REALLY what you want to do. I'm not too knowledgable about it but I do know they help you with paying for your degree. Or get your associates degree and get a typical job and then move out.
