I was just perusing some YouTube reviewers and scrolling through the comments for no real reason... but the Obito hate is over 9000.
Hundreds of people saying he's one of the worst characters ever created, they're glad he's dead, pedophile over Rin, Kishi should have killed him earlier, he doesn't deserve Naruto's forgiveness, Madara should have murdered him... it's a little much. I feel it's even worse than his Juubi jinchuriki days during my lurker time here when every other thread was about how much Obito sucked.
Point being, why didn't more people like Obito? Was his past not sad enough? Were his motives not good enough? Was he not threatening enough as a villain or redeemed enough as an ally? Was he not relatable in all of his misery? I'm not an Obito fanboy, but I thought he played his part well. I'm actually really confused.
I can't understand is why people like to ***** about other peoples opinions. People don't like Obito, so ****ing what, your opinion is the only one that actually matters. And I still think Obito is shit and deserves to die.
-"was he not threatening as a villain"?
No, through out his entirety as the main villain (unmasked) his morals, and views were always gray. He was not confident in what he believed and Naruto giving Obito advice through out his whole reign as main villain was painful to watch. Obito's not threatening.
-"was he redeemed enough to be an ally"?
Hell no, 10 minutes of Helping Naruto and Sasuke out does not erase the years of terror, the hundreds of deaths he caused, the war he caused, and all the suffering he caused. Hes the reason why Minato, Neji, Konan, Jiraiya, and Kushina are dead. He died irredeemable.
-"Was his misery relatable"? To an extent. People do deal with being friendzoned or having a loved one die, but to the extent to where they are willing to kill thousands, start a war, and put the entire world in an enternal dream just to get that love one back. (
PS. Even if Obito got Rin back, he would still be friendzoned, his dream would be hella awkward).
-"Obito played his part well". No, in my opinion his shitty motives and two dimensional personality and one directional thinking made reading Naruto when Obito was main villain a pain. I was begging Kishimoto to kill off Obito ever since we started to get Rin flashbacks and even after he was supposed to die (by established rules inside the manga) he managed to live by death
twice, making his death even more satisfying.
I'm glad that Obito is dead, I and say that proudly, but thats just my opinion.
