Yes, it is true and I am one of those fan.
This theory might seems a little bit shadowy because android games is still at its infancy. Android games has it own upgrades, where players has to buy coins, items or tools to progress. PC gaming will stood the test of time just like the pyramids, but I am not too sure of the gaming consoles.
Sega has fallen, who's next?
Well Sega was one of the "God Father" companies of gaming like Atari with so many successful console releases. I mean before I was even born they had at least three successful consoles then in my life time they've had the Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn, and Sega DreamCast.
The only reason they got knocked out of the console game is because the dreamcast got swept by the PS2/XBOX/Gamecube and they had to sell the company to not lose everything. But they still make a ton of money from the games they release on multiple consoles, same with atari.
Now I'm sure Mobile games will evolve with technology but so will the consoles, and the consoles will always have the upper hand for gamers over Mobile games, not to mention 2 out the big three have successful handheld consoles that cover the whole gaming on the go angle.
I just don't see the console era ever ending, it's been lasting for almost 30 years and there is just way to much money in it. But who knows, anything is possible I suppose.
Dude, the fact you even made this thread shows just how much you do not understand about the games industry.
Games where players buy coins to upgrade (pay to win games) will never take off to the extent that you are assuming. The amount of people enjoy those type of games is miniscule. People in general do not enjoy paying for a game, then putting extra money into it to get more benefits. On consoles/PC you can buy "Map Packs", etc... but they are optional & do not give advantages over other players. In general, people prefer games where they do not have to constantly funnel money into them to get benefits. So the type of games you are suggesting will never take off like a console/pc game...
You are saying "PC has stood the test of time, but you are not sure about consoles."
Consoles have been around since the 1970's. Which in my opinion has already stood the test of time, considering gaming PC's have been around for less time than that. So I don't see how your logic works?
And basing off your Statement about Sega, "Sega has fallen, who's next?", it just shows again that you have no idea how it works. Sega didn't "fall". They did what any self respecting company would do, and stepped aside to allow bigger and better consoles to advance. If Sega wanted to bring out a console, they could quite easily. But they chose not to. They are just sticking to making to games, and leaving the console making to the companies that clearly enjoy doing it.
& that's how it's always going to be. Consoles will always be around. Then when the console has run it's course, a new/better console will come out to replace it. Companies like Sega may drop out of the console race, but there will always be another company to replace them. As long as technology keeps advancing, so will games consoles, and people will keep buying them. Simple.
Yet again, thank you for expounding the down of Sega. In business, the law of nature still applies "Survival of the Fittest". Pardon me, but don't make it look like Sega considered charity for their competitors. To understand my theory, you don't need to study Economics to get its logic. The Law of Supply and Demand will drop the sales of gaming consoles eventually.
Easy for your guys to say that gaming consoles will improve to give much superb graphics, but have you considered the cost of manufacture? One of the reason why gamers are buying the consoles is because of the games, the saga! just like Resident Evil, God of War and GTA. A game master magazine once said, "It is the games that makes the consoles, not the consoles that makes the game".... Sad but true.
Sega fought valiantly against Nintendo, but Sony Playstation ensures its untimely demise. Now, the gaming consoles has once again at the brink of extension. Sony is now joining the mobile phone arms race by creating Xperia that offers Playstation Mobile Gaming. It's just a matter of time that Nintendo will join the war.
Perhaps android games can never surpass the console gaming in terms of graphics. But not all games has to be graphic wise to be great. Candy Crush Saga & Plant VS. Zombie for instance have been reported to be addictive. As always there will always be advantages and disadvantages.
