Case in point, just because the movie references Hamura and apparently shows how NaruHina became an item, that does not mean that the movie itself is canon. The movie supposedly features some random villain named Toneri and is focused on the moon falling to the Earth. Toneri is a filler character, he has no relevance to the manga. The moon falling to the Earth was not in the manga and I could argue its contradictory to how the ending in 699 played out.

Its similar to the plotline with Utakata. Just because Utakata was a manga character, that does not mean that his filler arc was canon. Naruto did not know Utakata when he met him in the manga, that means that plotline is non canon. This movie might feature a canon couple, but that does not mean the plotline of the movie is canon. The movie might reference a known manga character (Hamura) but that does not make it canon. For the movie to be canon you'd have to accept everything that happened as canon and I find that unimaginable. Just because Kishi says its related to the manga does not mean its canon, it just uses aspects of canon material to support the filler plot.

I admit I was wrong in my last thread about Tsunade simply attaching a Zetu arm to Naruto's body, but just because the movie talks about Hamura and features a canon couple, that does not mean the entire plotline is canon. If you disagree, please explain to me why you think it is canon. Please refrain from telling me Kishi said it was canon because he has not done that. He has only stated that its related to the manga, which refers to the non canon villain sharing the same heritage of the sage. I hope people can handle this thread maturely. Thanks for reading as always.

Lol, so becuase we didnt know about the village from prior manga that makes it not cannon?
Your arguement for why its not cannon can also be used for why it maybe cannon, besides the utakata part.

People are still in denial about this? It's already been confirmed to take place between 699 and 700.
the movie is basically chapter 699.5
Every Naruto movie can be snuggly wedged between manga chapters simply by deduction of what powers the characters had at the time. This case is only slightly different because there is such a clear gap in time between those chapters. This does not prove its canon.

At least one filler arc featured a new village (the star village) that was never shown in the manga. If you're right about a new village being featured (which I didn't know) than yes the village is non canon if it was never shown in the manga.

I understood Kishi's statement the same way you took it.

It requires a small leap from "related to" and "between" to "canon" , but it's a leap nonetheless.

I guess the meaning of what he said is subject to majority rule of the audience :)

It's called canon by Kishi... you know, the only one who gets to deem what's canon
and what's not? Yes, it is official and not some random deduction made by people on the
base.

The film is written by Kishi
The designs are being made by Kishi
The production is being overseen by Kishi
Kishi himself said the film is canon

If that doesnt make something canon I don't know what does.

I do have an argument for why the movie is considered canon. Usually, movies avoid having anything occur in them that could have permanent consequences on the characters. They could go home, go to bed, wake up, and pick up where they left off from before the events of the movie as though it never happened. However, in this movie, someone GETS MARRIED. Would Kishimoto feel as though he has the freedom to depict flashbacks to that event differently, or might he refer back to them as they happened in the movie?

To everyone saying Kishi has stated its canon and said it multiple times, that is only your interpretation of his statements. As Uzumakisama stated, its easy for your mind to jump from 'related' to 'canon'. Just because Kishi was deeply involved in the movie and it has aspects related to the manga does not mean its canon. Does the movie have any true relevance to the manga (outside of the NaruHina pairing)? Does anything get discovered in the movie that is essential to the manga storyline? No it does not. You don't have to see the movie to know everything there is to know about the Naruto series. My interpretation is that its not canon.

@ AaaaNinja, you are right that this movie has something unique to it that is rooted in the manga, the NaruHina pairing. But the difference between this and canon material is that canon material is discovered in the manga, not the movie. So since the NaruHina pairing was made canon in the manga rather than this movie, I still consider it in the same filler box as every other movie.

Oh my god, you guys need to stop reaching, like seriously. The damn movie is canon.

-It's Kishi's Idea
-It's his story
-He supervised the making of it (I.E. Making sure the story and everything that happens makes sense to the Manga)
-He Ok'd the script
-He designed the characters.
-He said it's related to the manga.

Why is the movie related? It takes place between chapter 699 and 700. like seriously. If JK Rolling anounces that she's working with a team of people to create a New harry Potter movie and says it's related to the books, you can't say "It's not canon". thats retarded as hell.
