Oh yes, everyone takes something from something else. That's how it is with many stories.
It's funny, the only way to make a completely original story would either to be completely insane, or very high.
That's mean, you're a meanie.

When I bought the box set recently my mum and I spent hours pointing out the similarities. It was fun

Yep, she even said Guy wouldn't die and Obito would save Sakura. lol She was right and that was before the chapters came out. She's a very observant woman and likes the series. Neji is her fav character.

As if Star Wars didn't mirror the bible in some way. Skywalker didn't have a father, his mother was conceived through midi-chlorians. He was also referred to as the chosen one, the one who will bring balance.
Originality doesn't exist.
Actually in truth every type of story has already been told, every new book, movie, TV show, comic, or manga (or any other form of story telling) is just the same old story being told in a new way.
For example, look at the Matrix, humanity is nearly destroyed by machines gone rogue, the same story is used in the Terminator, I Robot, and about a gazillion other stories.
Then their is the Last Samurai story line, also used in Avatar, Ferngully, Pocahantus, Dances with Wolves, and a thousand other stories.
Then their is the super hero story line, every super hero movie and comic is the same story just told a little differently, the hero gets his power and beats up a bad guy that also has powers.
The chosen one trope is surely the only Biblical allusion between Jesus Christ and Anakin Skywalker you could pull, seeing as Jesus never fell to the Dark Side over a woman and was never manipulated by an evil old man, and that is basically the life story of Anakin.
Originality does exist. Surely, in popular culture, there are remakes, parodies, and overall extended metaphors, but to say originality does not exist is ignorant to the possibility of someone creating something new. I mean, the very first story ever created was original, logically, right?
I mean, you already had the Obito/Darth Vader connections, and Madara mirrors the Emperor, but now they even mention the dark side? Wow, just, wow, Kishi, oh well, I LOVE STAR WARS ANYWAYS!!!!!
Harry (no family but meets their ghosts later and his mum protects him), Ron and Hermione are like Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura.
Voldemort could be a combination of Orochimaru and Madara, since he was snake-like suddenly revived from the dead, and stole bodies.
Snape would be like Itachi. He begged Dumbledore to save Lily and turned spy saying no one could know, like Itachi begged the Third to spare Sasuke. He was viewed a traitor but was on the good guys side all along.
I could go on.

Harry wasn't a drop out or a pariah like Naruto. He was skilled and revered at hogwarts. And neither Ron nor Harry go bad. They have disagreements and Ron get's jealous once or twice. That's all. Hermione and Sakura's personalities and roles are quite different as well.
Both Orochimaru and Madara originally had virtuous goals. Voldemort was just an evil, power hungry sorcerer who wanted to rule the world. Furthermore, he shares no parallelism with any of the main characters.
I'll somewhat give you that one. But Snape for the most part wasn't portrayed as a villain until the last two books. Itachi was portrayed as one throughout all of part one and half of part 2. Even further, Snape really wasn't bad at all while many could argue that Itachi still wasn't all good.
Please do.
I don't recall Ginny having a long term crush on Harry, and even if she did, it was not foreshadowed. Hinata's crush on Naruto was given when she was introduced. And again, Ginny's story and personality in no way compares Hinata. She isn't emotionally weak, has no Neji equivalent and is instead just the secondary protagonist's sister.
