The "I don't need college, guys like Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg dropped out and they're filthy rich" excuse is the most pathetic thing I see some people do. Do you have some million Dollar idea right now, which guarantee's you a safe future ? No ? Then go to school. Education is essential to do well in life, the amount and type of education just varies between people.

So, yes, go to f***ing college.
You nailed it. Quit being lazy and get that degree that you desire.

Don't you think that a lot of jobs prefer experience rather than a college degree? Not saying going to college doesn't give you experience it's just not the only way.

ok dude don't listen to any of these ignorant fools. You do not need to go to college if you want to have a certain type of job like a fisherman or a shop keeper or a taxi driver. However you need college to become a doctor but it is not a have to. If you decide to go to college than keep this in mind, do not believe everything they tell you, the mite teach you certain things where they are not true so be careful.... do not be a puppet!

Edit: also schools are not the only way to get education. The government try to make it seem that way but home teaching or teaching yourself can all be the same.

in this day and age college is becoming more and more obsolete!!! Take myself for example... Went to ithaca college for 4 years then went to grad school for 3 years in rochester both in NY and could not get a job in my field of study (Phyisical Therapy). I then went back to school and got a BA in business management and still no real job. Then I went to school at polytech for an engineering degree in automotives. After spending about half a million on tuition I learned that TRADE jobs are in HIGH demand and the field to go to for work!!! plumbers electricians mechanics technicians are in EXTREMELY high demand lately because for the last 40 years all the careers requiring a college education have been taken. I work as an electrician in a union making 43 dollars an hour full benefits PTO vacations etc. IF you ask me i would say save the 150-500k and enroll in a technical school. Plus I don't know if anybody has realized but Education has become more of a BUSINESS enterprise than an educational one. 60k for 1 year of schooling is ****en ridiculous!!!! ESPECIALLY since it doesnt guarentee you a job. I've had friend graduate from Duke Yale NYU Colombia who couldnt get a job with there half million dollar piece of paper saying they have a college degree.... Research the job market and plan from there.... College was necessary when your parents were in their 20's.... that was 2-3 decades ago..... the times have changed...

im in my 4th year finishing administration of computer networks
that doesn't really matter here cause a random guy just posted on a forum that's primarily about anime/manga if he should go to college which may decide how the rest of his life will be...
even if you have some connections high up for a job they will still ask you to have some kind of a degree
when all that is said and done you decide if you should go or not

Take this comment and think about it. 6paths is right. Even with a good idea, finacial security is NOT guranteed. You need the brains to take it forward.

In this corrupt society, it's recommended that you do so.

I'm only going for the experience, not for the societal benefits.

Judging by your avi and sig, you should have an idea what college is really for.

Honestly, I don't wanna fully participate in this corrupt government, but because of circumstances, i have to.

Wait who are we to give him advice. This is a real life problem for him. If he cant decide whether or not to go to college then I think he should just not go. Leave your seat for someone who really wants to go to college. If you want to go to college you wont have to ask anyone else you will make the decision to go. I think that this is just something he has to do on his own to be honest.

Opportunities? I read somewhere about half or more than half of college graduates don't have jobs.

Many jobs these days require you to go to college. Also lets say you and a guy are waiting to be hired for the same job. Do you think they'll pick the guy who went college or the guy who didnt?

Don't value the opinion of a brainwashed societal slave, they'll all tell you the same thing.

Go to college for the experience. Earn enough money to be "stable", not filthy stinking rich.(That's the dream of a slave)

Seeing how this economy is declining, it's hard to rely on this government anymore. The system is falling apart.

Go to college. You're an idiot if you have the opportunity and don't. If you dont want to your next best bet would be the army. But oh wait I'm in the army and my 1st Sgt requires us to be enrolled in two college courses covered by tuition assistance. Just go. You dont have to do it to be successful but it gives you more opportunities. I know a few guys who didn't go and got hooked up with good jobs through family connections. God help them if they ever lose that job though. I know a guy went to tech school and makes mad cash as a deisel mechanic for giant dump trucks and bulldozers and stuff like that. They are the exception though not the rule.
