I would say it is a form of taijutsu really. It would be used to send an opponent flying into the air, at which point one can take advantage by following up with perhaps a fast moving projectile. It seems to be a great way to start a combo.
Well put. Like a gap closure or an emphasis on an attack.
Now, proceed to form the handseals of Snake → Rat → Ox → Ram → Snake...

Haha I was thinking about the move before this one with my last reply haha. Well it would be a great defensive move as it provides alot of cover. Also allows the user to perhaps sneak away while hidden.
