They're real trees, and Hashirama merely injects life force into them to make them sprout, hence the inability for Madara to absorb it; it isn't made of chakra, only brought forth/maintained by chakra. Same as Kamui. This is literally like saying, Preta Path could absorb Shinra Tensei but then you realize it can't, because Shinra Tensei is not chakra, but a repulsive gravitational force, as opposed to a chakra composed attack like a basic Katon from Madara.​

kamui> preta path...! if kamui can be absorbed then i can prove that genjutsu can be as well...! genjutsu is casted on user by chakra manipulation in opponent obviously using your own chakra...! now preta should be able to absorb opponents chakra cancelling the genjutsu but it can't...! same is the case with kamui...! 1st preta can't touch anything when being sucked so touching opponent is out of question...! 2nd if preta can absorb opponent's chakra that is keeping the portal open then same is case with genjutsu...!
the thing is for preta to absorb anything it has to touch it...! and while being sucked into kamui dimention you don't touch anything...! you just walk through the door and enter another room....! so preta is useless against kamui...

Preta also can't absorb the Hiraishin marking as well since it never disappears U_U

5. Physical attack, weapons > Preta
