We argued the possibility of records being erased.

We only believe in our life that our records will last forever on digital hardware. But what if there's a nuclear holocaust where we don't have access to computers and many written documents burn.

The top 10 list is what I believe to be the names that will always be remembered, even if such a thing would happen.

That's the thing, there are still quite of few people who names will remain timeless, so it would be kind of hard to make an accurate top 10 list >.> but good luck

For instance Hercules being there instead of people mentioned earlier like Hitler and Darwin

I'm not just talking about 100 years in the future, but thousands of years until the end of human existence.

The top 10 list is what I believe to be the names that will always be remembered, even if such a thing would happen.

The reason for this is not because of their greater presence in history but because of their stronger attachment to world cultural systems.

By your reasoning I would agree partially though. I suppose I don't fins the title an accurate description of the list.

Exactly this^. You can't create a list that everyone in the world will remember forever. Maybe but it will be a very small list. Excluding religious figures, unless someone changed the lives of everyone in a day to day basis (like some of the scientists you mentioned)..people will forget about them imo.

Well Mao Zedong isn't common enough that everyone hear about him. However, mostly everyone knows about Julius Ceasar, which makes him being forgotten throughout history less.


Eventually there will be enough historical figures in a thousand years that people will no longer read about Mao Zedong and Hitler. But everyone will always remember Julius Ceasar.

Well I don't agree with the people on the list (mainly fictional characters), nor do I agree with the order (musicians, artists, play-writes, and "prophets" placed above scientists..), but there are people in history who will never be forgotten.

I guarantee that thousands (or even hundreds) of years from now, many parts of the world will forget about him. Especially countries/continents that he didn't affect.

His name survived 2000 years already. It's highly unlikely. The chain of events that followed because of his actions echoes even till today throughout the world.

i doubt that his name will be remember in a 1000 years if say a nuclear holocaust occurred during that time.

Hercule's name existed for over 3000 years, after countless empires and kingdoms both risen and fallen. Just about everyone knows his name today, even if he may be fictional.
