He then dissolves in a mist and a moment later a tree appears behind you and binds you by your neck and waist, but your arms are still free for the purpose of you releasing the illusion. A short moment later Shin appears from above you from inside the tree.

"You know the drill, same as last time..."

Momentarily confounded by sensei's disappearance, Koumei quickly comes to realize the intent behind the illusion when his movements become substantially restrained. After several uncomfortable moments pass in silence, he releases the illusion by making the Ram hand-seal. In accord with the training procedure, Koumei then sends some of his chakra towards Shin so as to affect his nervous system. Recalling the disappearance, the tree, and the branches, he wastes no effort in attempting to recreate the same sensations he'd experienced without moving from his current position. As the illusion is cast, Shin will find himself restrained (save for his arms) by a tree's branches until he disperses the technique.​

As you release your chakra, your technique begins, however it fails mid way in the process of trying to cause your disappearance and creating the tree. The tree only manifests partly before it disappears. Shin sighs as he walks, letting you know that 1) he could see you, and 2) that he wasn't bound, thus you had failed in both aspects of the jutsu. He plucked your head with his index finger, with a partial amount of chakra behind it in order to knock you back a little bit.

"Aho, weren't you paying attention? I made 5 hand seals in order to use the jutsu. Also, why did you stay in the same place? If you had noticed, once I disappeared and re-appeared in above you in the tree. This technique gives you the element of stealth by erasing your presence from your opponent until you're close and you sprout out of the illusion. Try it again."

Repeating the procedure, Koumei weaves the five hand-seals he saw sensei form, and then sends some of his chakra towards Shin so as to affect his nervous system. Recalling the disappearance, the tree, and the branches, he wastes no effort in recreating the same sensations he'd experienced. As the illusion is cast, Koumei's presence will seemingly be erased and Shin will find himself restrained (save for his arms) by a tree's branches until he disperses the technique. Until the illusion is cancelled, Koumei is positioned above sensei, and seemingly partially emerged from within the tree.​

Shin took his right arm and extended it above to grab you on the neck, knowing that you weren't a false image of the illusion. When he ceased you by the neck, he pulled you over his shoulder and threw you to your back before he made the seal to break the illusion.

"And there you go screwing up again. Don't leave your opponent with that much freedom in an illusion if you're going to get close enough and reveal yourself. Only reason I left your arms open was because I want you to practice your kai that way you can perform it faster in an actual battle.

I want you to pay close attention, you fight how you train. The intent to kill me should be second nature to you. Always come at me as though you're trying to kill me else you'll get sloppy, understand?"

Repeating the method again, Koumei weaves the five hand-seals he'd performed a few moments ago, and then sends some of his chakra towards Shin so as to affect his nervous system. Recalling the disappearance, the tree, and the branches, he wastes no effort in recreating the same sensations he'd experienced. As the illusion is cast, Koumei's presence will seemingly be erased and Shin will find himself completely restrained (all limbs and neck) by a tree's branches until he disperses the technique. With the illusion set in motion, Koumei quickly shifts his positioning so that he appears behind sensei and draws a kunai, before bringing its razor-sharp point to his idle target's neck with force.​

Shin makes the seal for the shadow clone technique once he notices you getting ready to try and entrap him again. He creates his clone behind, which proceeds to grab your right arm and twist it around your back. He then kicks the back of your leg and pins you on the ground with his left knee leaning painfully against your left bicep.

Description: The Kage Bunshin distributes the ninja's chakra evenly among the clones and creates a real copy with form and substance. The clone itself can also utilize any jutsu the original ninja knows. When the clone finally disperses, any new knowledge it has gained is passed back to the original ninja and any additional clones. Upon impact, the clone can be dispersed.

"Baka, I didn't tell you to do it again!" Shin said sternly. "I was talking about for future reference, geez. Anyway let's take five we're about half way through this method already. Take a breather and reflect on some of the things you've learned. I have to go somewhere anyway." Shin's clone got from on top of you and the real shinobi stetched.

"I shouldn't be to long, if you have any questions or just want to talk about some stuff play around with my clone for a bit."

Shin then disappeared in a cloud of smoke, leaving you with his clone.

"Yeah, don't be stupid when you cast genjutsu. People don't understand the art of casting an illusion and they'll cast it here and there just to try and stall your opponent in order to hit them with a finishing blow. If used right, genjutsu end your fight."

"Combos are for the other guy when he comes back. He's setting some things up with one of the other members of the Academy. I could prescribe some to you but that would be counter productive to your learning situation"

So, what useful things can you do for me, in regards to learning genjutsu? You know, until the real you returns, I'd like to experience more illusions, but not just any! If I make some clones, could you please use your favorite personal (custom) illusion on me? Also, I've heard some people have learned how to induce illusions via sound? Are you one of those people?

Koumei makes the unique hand-seal for the Shadow Clone Technique, and then disperses his chakra so as to form two identical copies of himself. Both clones move towards their sensei's own clone, wondering if he will sate their curiosity.​

You could hear foot steps approaching you from behind and shortly after Shin's voice. "Sorry I'm late, I was just checking some progress, anyway..." Shin released his clone and shortly after all the information of yours and his conversation went through his head.

"Huh, not much talking? Ahh well. We can proceed onto the next couple of techniques. This next one should be relatively familiar" After he spoke Shin strung together the following hand seals: Dog → Hare → Snake → Ram. Once he completed them he disappeared in a manner similar to before. This time, however several bean vines sprouted up from beneath you wrapping around your legs, torso, arms, and neck, completely binding you. Then a bean pod emerged from behind the vines, opening up and revealing Shin.
"Wouldn't you say this technique resembles another you previously learned?"

"This sensation.. It's quite akin to Illusion Technique: Tree Binding Death."​

Taking a long moment to fully process his illusionary bindings, Koumei then releases a considerable amount of chakra throughout his body. As the chakra travels, it surges outwards following an unfocused trajectory that serves to ammend the disrupted chakra flow focused in his central nervous system. Immediately, the entire illusion dissolves. Without hesitation, Koumei then weaves the same sequence of hand-seals he'd seen Shin make: Dog → Hare → Snake → Ram. As the hand-seals were completed, the illusion was set, making it seem as though he'd dissappeared. Accompanying his apparent absence, Shin should find his movements greatly restricted as several bean vines emerge to constrict his person (neck, arms, torso, and legs). The last thing Shin will see is a large bean pod opening behind the bean vines to reveal Koumei, albeit nothing more than another illusion, as Koumei has shifted his actual location to be left of sensei's position.​

"Very Good," Shin says as he makes the half seal of confrontation with his hand. "Little tip, pay attention to nuances within genjutsu. Even if you're restrained by a genjutsu and can't put your hands together doesn't mean you can't release the genjutsu with Kai. The Seal of Confrontation requires only one hand and you don't always have to post it in front of you, just need to get your wrist positioned and have your fingers point upright. It's a very effective way to not only release but also cast genjutsu, provided you're skilled enough to use seal require techniques with only one hand seal that is."

"Now then, we're almost done only two more techniques left in this method." As he speaks, Shin channels his chakra into you once more and traps you within an illusion. You soon find several snakes below you quickly slithering along your body, completely binding you around the legs, torso and arms and your neck. As they constrict you they pull tighter and tighter, damaging your mind making you feel a loss of oxygen and your bones slowly collapsing.

Finding himself almost completely immobile and in pain, courtesy of Shin's technique, Koumei does his best to briefly take in every sensation of what he knows to be an illusion. As soon as he feels he has a decent grasp of everything the illusion entails, he then pushes his body and specifically his right hand to just barely make the hand-seal for Kai. Almost immediately, the serpent-filled illusion came to an abrupt end, which allowed Kouemi to retaliate. Once again releasing a moderate amount of chakra to affect his sensei's central nervous system, Koumei sets the illusion to make it seem as though several snakes have risen from below Shin to restrict his neck, arms, torso, and legs. As the snakes seemingly go on to fully constrict Shin, the sheer mental strain should soon lead to significant damage.​

Shin bites the inside of his cheek without remorse before the technique could get too far. "Yeah not a fan of that technique so I wont be getting too involved in that."

"Now for this next and final one, you're not going to release the technique, I'm going to release it for you. The reason is, there's a very snide side affect that comes after and lingers that you'll need to feel and experience for a little while longer than normal. This is the final technique I'll be teaching your for a short while. We're going on a little play date afterwards. Now then...this will hurt quite a bit."

Shin places you under an illusion once more. He summons up a large flower bud beneath you which restricts the movements of your body from the neck down. In a very brief moment afterwards the flower begins to glow and then explodes. The explosion feels real in every sense and the sensation of pain and shock lingers on you.

"This is a unique technique and one of the better techniques since it binds you and then leaves you with this after affect. The illusion doesn't fade away after the bud explodes as you can clearly see. The technique, like any other genjutsu, remains until you are broken out of it. While no actual explosion occurs and the pain you feel after is an illusion if you don't realize the illusion all the shock and pain will stay with you and it will hinder your combat. This technique is especially good for rendering your opponent's reflexes and movements should they be unable to deduce the reality of the technique. Questions?"

Koumei finds himself soon placed in yet another one of Shin-sensei's illusions. This time around, the first thing he notices as the illusion forms, is the sudden emergence of a large flower bud that entraps him. Expecting this illusion to be no different from the earlier techniques that restricted his movements, Koumei is overcome with shock as he feels the flower bud explode with him inside. Even though he understands it all to be nothing more than a mere illusion, the sheer mental strain placed upon him causes him to collapse. Just barely able to fixate on Shin-sensei's followup explanation, the only question Koumei can muster: "please.. end this insufferable technique" is just barely audible to his nearby instructor.​
