i think ur onto sumthin maybe its obitos body n eye n stuff but he has madara's influence (madara patched the body up an transferred soul/memory into alredy dead original obitos body) similar to wat nagato did to yahikos body but instead of chakra rods he patched the body up with zetsu/hashi cells and basically made a permanent clone of himself a la orichimaru

Still not conviced its obito. how could he have given the rinnegan to nagato? Im going with izuna ((or some other uchiha who acheived rinnegan) in obito's body.
Zahajko, this is a place for opinions. All I'm saying is the only opinion you care for is your own. You tell people to choke on theirs but when someone talks about you, you get hurt. You're free to spout off, but if you can't deal with other opinions just choke on your own then & quit slagging others.
Seriously guys, there is NO WAY it can actually be Obito. I mean come on, the plot holes are so glaringly, unrealistically obvious. Do you really think Kishi is an idiot? I mean sure there have been some lackluster explanations to stuff in the past, but this is huge. And as we know, in chapter 500 we got some pretty big news with regards to plot, so I'm pretty sure 600 will do the same and we're gonna learn something extremely crucial. As soon as the shock of seeing Obito on the last page wore off for me, I knew right away there was no way, and even if there was, a very very logical explanation was bound to follow. I highly doubt that after years and years of writing this character that has had us spamming blogs and threads, and has played such a vital role in the entire series that he would half-ass it, have some faith!!
My theory as to how Obito became Tobi
The way I see it is like this:
After giving Kakshi his Sharingan, Obito's grief awakened his Mangekyo seconds before being completely crushed by the ensuing landslide. He then unconsciously transported himself to the other dimension, no doubt as a defense mechanism. He then transported himself back out of the dimension somewhere near konoha, where Orochimaru found him.
Orochimaru noticed that Obito had the Mangekyo Sharingan, so he decided to save him. He brought him to one of his secret hideouts, where he unveiled one of his experiments: Zetsu. Orochimaru used zetsu to save Obito, afterwards helping Obito become accustomed to his new limbs, and learn how to further control his Mangekyo. Using Zetsu not only saved his life, but also increased his power exponentially due to the Senju DNA. I believe this caused his normal MS to act more like an EMS, allowing him to use (and abuse) his new optical ability to his hearts content.
(This would explain how in the span of a few short years Obito went from being a normal Genin, to being able to go toe to toe with the 4th Hokage.)
Orochimaru's initial motive to help Obito was the same as with Sasuke, to take his body after training him a bit. He did not foresee, however, that Obito's MS tech would make him almost completely untouchable. Orochimaru saw this, and decided to just have Zetsu keep an eye on Obito, and manipulate him from the shadows.
Then, after hearing of Rin's death: Obito lost it, and began devising his "Moon's Eye Plan", and how he would gather all of the tailed beasts.

In any case, I love this chapter...Also nice seeing Obito back (I presume it's him, if he responds with a "Huh? whose Obito?" THEN Kishimoto takes the title of the ultimate troll.

Hello everyone, this is my first comment here.
Yes, this week's manga has some mixed feelings but overall i give it a 4. But let's analyze the fact that Tobi is, or it seems to be, Obito...i can see this going two ways...he is truly Obito or he is merged with someone like Zetsu or Izuna although i really doubt it. So let's assume he is Obito...is that really farfeatched and a bad move pulled by Kishimoto? Not really. Let me explain my vision:
1- It seems a perfect way to put Naruto vs a dark version of Naruto since Obito was like Naruto.
2- Naruto, Nagato and Obito are close in the soul, hence logical that both are seen as new Sage of the Six Paths.
3- It explains why Tobi always wanted to put Sasuke vs Naruto because he is now an avenger like Sasuke and if Sasuke kills Naruto it's like having Tobi killing his old-self and showing that this is the better way.
4- Don't underestimate the power of love...he gave everything to protect Rin and Kakashi...his last will was to entrust her safety to Kakashi...and then she died...it's enough to beat the crap of someone's mind.
5- If he is truly Obito how did he survive? Well that is kishimoto challenge to us now but i think it was kinda like this...Madara found him and saved him because Obito is a direct descendent of him. For some reason he died but gave Nagato the rinnegan that he activated so that he could be brought back later. Obito was now an avenger because of Rin's death and followed Madara's plan. When he said to Konan that he gave Nagato the eyes, he was talking like he was Madara, there's no inconsistency there.
6- What about the other inconsistencies? Maybe it was Madara being Tobi in the first years until he died and got replaced by Obito. What about the fight against Minato? Well, Kurama never mentioned it was Madara controlling him and maybe Obito was so brainwashed that he didn't know who it was back then or he just neglected everything just like Sasuke did. The age part? Well, his body could have been modified since it was crushed. But really, the age part is the least meaningless part. But it was really him, because Tobi was using his eye's powers.
So in the end, the story was not crushed. Let's have hope in Kishimoto guys =)

Its not that I didn't expect Tobi to be Obito, I had just hoped Kishi didn't make it so obvious prior to the revelation. Oh well I'm still interested in seeing a flashback that shows how he survived as well as why he became evil

i dont bliv that tobi is obito......the next few chapter will explain everything...i think there is a link between madara and obito later in this manga series...hehehe....but still it surprise me a lot...this is crazy....lol

I died a little on the inside when I saw Tobi was Obito. I don't believe it and won't until Kishi explains everything! I honestly do believe it's Izuna using Obito's body like Nagato did with Yahiko. I'm so confused! Maybe someone evil influnced Obito? AHHHHHHH. :ice: Feel free to ignore this and carry on with your life. Don't bash my reply though
OMG. I just realized something. Know what would have been really cool? if from the very start, EVERYTHING about tobi was hidden, especially his hair and we saw nothing but his eyes. That way, if he was revealed to be obito it would have been an absolute mind ****. not that it isnt now, or anything but it probably would have had a crazier effect and would have been more of a surprise.

Lol at a lot of you assuming its Obito simply because of the title of the manga.
Last time I checked Kishi hasn't fully stated (besides Kakashi's statement) that it was Obito. And even then Kakashi questioned whether it could really be Obito.
Frankly it wasn't too bad of an episode, but I pretty much found myself skipping to the end by the 5th page.
