I may or may not have just had a moment of clarity ... could this be 'That jutsu' ? cause seriously, when did Naruto learn sealing techs? perhaps he read more than one forbidden scroll... just a thought, it would make sense to, because he would have needed the key to his scroll in order to do this, and it was when he got the key that this comment was made..
"that jutsu"? I'm not seeing what you're refering to...
in the beginning, somewhere, jiraiya warned naruto not to use *that* jutsu.. When he got the key to his seal the parchment-frog (gerotora) said it again, that he can now perfect *that* jutsu. But if it was something that we were supposed to know, he'd at least say it once. It's got something to do with the kyubi form. It may not even be anything special.

add: but I really don't think that the sealing that he did is "that jutsu". Sealing the kyubi is not a technique that you'd "perfect" anyway

True that, however i lead the the assumtion that when he consumed all that chakra, he obtained "all that power". It's controversial in my opinion, there could be many translations because theres like 3 different japanese languages.
Yes, but Kishi uses only one as far as I know. Also seen the situation it would make no sense at all that Naruto, who just got a humongous chakra boost, would say he still has all that much power left while the Kyuubi is dehydrating by the second, but still is making that massive chakra blast.

I don't actually get as why people are so confused about that line of the Kyuubi. If you just think logical, there's nothing weird about it. I've not read all the posts so far, so most of it probably already has been said already, but I'm still going to say it:

- Naruto is likely a Senju. It has never been stated specifically, but there are countless of indications and above all it would make the most sense. It all started with Uchiha vs Senju since the death of the SO6P. That rivalry has been going on for centuries, via Madara vs Shodaime, till the current time. It would make no sense that Sasuke, who's an Uchiha and embodies all the aspects of this rivalry, would clash with someone who's not a Senju. As we know he's going to fight with Naruto sooner or later and seen all the indications Naruto should be a Senju. If not it makes absolutely no sense at all.

- Now as we take that Naruto is a Senju, we can move forward. The Senju's inherited the body of the SO6P, with other words they inherited the physical container for a Tailed Beast as the SO6P was the host of the Juubi. This leads to the fact that he also was the container of the Kyuubi as the Kyuubi is a part of the Juubi.

- You can see the body of the SO6P as a blueprint he gave to the Senju, just like he gave his eyes to the Uchiha. No matter the Uchiha, he will awaken his Sharingan at some point as he was given a blueprint of it by the SO6P and it's my idea it's the same for the Senju. However they got the blueprint of his body aka the blueprint of a host. Of course you can't awaken that, unless a certain condition is met: you come into contact with the chakra of a tailed beast.

- When Naruto got into touch with the Kyuubi frontal and absorbed his chakra, the blueprint reacted. Just like if you would throw a burning lucifer on gunpowder, which instantly explodes, the blueprint of the SO6P in Naruto reacted on the chakra of the Kyuubi (and thus the Juubi). This reaction was, outside looking for a sec like the SO6P, a sealing jutsu. Where did it come from? Naruto doesn't know sealing and that seal was even stronger than Minato's Death Reaper Seal. It's obvious not Naruto's, it's from the SO6P. Madara already said it: the host-system has barely changed since it first was used. Just like every Uchiha has a Sharingan in him, every Senju probably has the blueprint of that sealing jutsu in him and that's what the Fox was referring to: the sealing jutsu Naruto used.

- Of course there are degrees in it, not every Sharingan is as strong as another, same would go for this. Though in theory every Senju would be able to use it, just like every Uchiha could achieve MS. The result of this is that Senju's would be the perfect hosts. Only a handful of hosts was able to control their beast, most of the hosts died or lost control, but as far as we know none of them was a Senju. Naruto was probably the first Senju who became a host. It would make some sense as the 6OSP was the one who made the host-techinque, it would be logical that he not only made that technique but also passed down the tools to use it at its fullest.

Summary: The point I actually wanted to make was that Naruto is not the S06P, I don't get as why people think he is. If you even think for a second the S06P splitted himself into two to put it like that: Uchiha and Senju. So how is it possible that Naruto would be the SO6P if he's divided into two? Maybe if an Uchiha and Senju would breed with each other, but in this case what we saw was a reaction of the Kyuubi's chakra on Naruto's body, which contains the blueprint of the SO6P's body. This reaction could, in theory, happen with every Senju who comes into contact with any tailed beast.

This is just a theory and depending on the next chapter it could be broken or made.

i just see how both ways could make sense, naruto or the kyuubi having all that power. I agree with your theory though :)

Something I was just thinking about now that it is clear Naruto has the So6P's body. I have been saying for a while that I think he will eventually be a second coming of the sage but my previous theory was that Sasuke would get the Rinnegan (which we should know soon if Madara already hooked that up) and end up giving them to Naruto once he turns back to good when they fight. But what if Hinata is the one to make the sacrifice and give Naruto her Byakugan which then upgrade to the Rinnegan. It was said before that the Byakugan are actually the more pure form of the sages eyes that the Sharingan evolved from so wouldn't it make sense that they would be able to mutate into the Rinnegan?

This is how I think the end of Naruto will play out. Madara will get the Eight tails and the other half of the Nine tails (it has been said that only half of the Fox's chakra was sealed in Naruto so he could still have his half.) Sasuke and Naruto will fight and Itachi's gift will tip the scales so Naruto wins, either by bringing Sasuke back to the light or by killing him. Madara won't be able to control the Ten tails and it will go berserk. If Sasuke gets the Rinnegan he will then give them to Naruto to save the world, if not I think Hinata will give him her Byakugan which will then mutate into Rinnegan (maybe that is the key, Byakugan in the sages body create Rinnegan.) Naruto will save the world.

Also something a lot of people don't seem to be taking into consideration. The Sages sons did not instantly become the Uchiha and Senju, that happened down the road. If it was true that the Byakugan were the next dojutsu to evolve out of the Sages lineage then either his son had them or he had Rinnegan and somewhere down the line his children or grandchildren etc... ended up with Byakugan which then further on became Sharingan. It is true the Uchiha and Senju became the most powerful of his descendants but the Hyuga are also a part of the same line the Uchiha came from so it wouldn't be a stretch to think the Uzuzmaki are from the same line as the Senju without being Senju specifically. Maybe the Hyuga and the Uzumaki are in fact the clans produced by the sages sons and the Uchiha and Senju spawned from them.

Just a thought.

what does it mean for naruto, or anybody, to have the body of the so6p? or to be a senju? As far as I noticed, the senjus have completely inconsistent abilities: wood, water, lightning (tsunade, "presumed") and toka used genjutsu. and the sage's "strength" is misleading. Also, if Naruto is a senju, I can't figure how wind nature fits in. All the uchiha use fire, at least.

Also, what happened to the rinnegan? why did they completely dissapear, when it's much more powerful than anything the uchiha had ever shown.

And I'm not quite sure about the senju inheriting some special biju-controlling ability. I'm not sure the so6p ever had one, except skill and intelligence, maybe.

Add, to previous post: the other half of the kyubi is gone forever. I'm not sure if madara knows this, but he should realise that creating the jubi may not be possible anymore xd thanks to minato

You're thinking to narrowminded. If you look at the whole picture you would see it's not inconsistent at all. The result of having the S06P body is that they have no physical limits to put it like that. Senju can learn an extremely large variety of techniques and jutsu's and that's the consistent factor of the Senju, thier bodies can do such a large variety of things.

If you fight an Uchiha, you know he has a Sharingan and he uses fire. But if you fight a Senju, you have not a clue as what he could use. You could say their inconsistency is their consistent.

Normally every clan has specific abilities: Uchiha = Sharingan and fire, Nara = shadow etc.
But the Senju have the potential to have an extremely large variety of techniques just in one clan and that's their ability, that's their "Sharingan".

And we don't know what happened to the Rinnegan.

He was the host of the Juubi =/ he divided it into 9 different beasts, does it have to be more obvious that he could control them?

Those being able to freely use any technique are those with rinnegan (such as nagato), who inherited the sage's eyes, and not the senju. the uchiha is out of the question - I still don't get it why they are said to be the true inheritors of the older son of so6p.

And even if the sage could control the jubi, I meant that he had no innate ability apart from, maybe, the rinnegan. If madara plans to do the same, it's obviously not unique to the senju. splitting the jubi can be skill too, not genetics.

minato split the kyubi, and no character was surprised/amazed by that. so anyone with enough skill could do it

You're not getting the point =/ Nagato and the SO6P could use everything, but they are a single individual, I'm talking about the Senju as a clan. I never said that every Senju can use every single technique, I said that within the Senju you can find such a large variety of techniques and that's their consistency. Do you know another clan where you can find masters of genjutsu, water, wood and God knows what else? No.

There is no 'even if'. He could control the Juubi and that's a fact. You can't defeat the Juubi, become its host, lock his body up into the moon and split his chakra into nine different parts without controlling it. No one is just pure skill and why giving your own body away if nothing is special with it? His body wasn't your average day body.

I meant it differently. But that doesn't matter that much. It's a matter of belief and differing definitions for "clan".

What I care about now is why would naruto be a senju, except for that it would be nice. Minato was "Namikaze" and his mother "Uzumaki".

I still believe that the new seal and naruto's "sage of six paths' form" came from the kyubi's chakra. Why else would it be so sudden?

Hum...you're on to something...that would explain why the Senju part of the leaf seems always associated with the ability of supressing the tailed beasts and sealing abilities. the 1st had that ability, minato seem very adept at sealing, as was the 3rd, and yamato, and tsunade herself is very adept at sealing and sealing techniques...

But still...why did (if it was that way) the rinnegan transform in to the sharingan? and the whole byakugan thing...Did the sage give a raw form of dojutsu that, if his son was agressive it would become sharingan, if he was passive/good he would be presented with a byakugan? I don't know obviasly, but byakugan is refered as the origin of the sharingan...even if that's wrong, some relation has to exist because both clans co-exist in konoha...both must have shared the same origin...

Maybe rinnegan divided in two paths: Sharingan and Byakugan

Who knows, that something that can't be explained yet as there's not much info about it. Maybe the Rinnegan is the manifestation of having both the body and eyes?

And as I recall they talked in the manga about the Byakugan/Sharingan relation as if it were a theory itself. They weren't sure either in the manga. Also that was said very nearly the beginning of the manga, Kishi could have gotten a change of heart as the Byakugan really doesn't fit in in the all Uchiha vs Senju storyline.

Konoha is only 80 years old or so, while the clans are centuries old. It's possible there wasn't even a single relation between the Hyuuga and Uchiha clans before they formed Konoha (outside having Doujutsu's).

ok, at least we settled the clan thing. Also, Minato is definitely not Tsunade's son. Why else would Tsunade want those two guys back, but not minato? minato can't be too close to her. far cousins, maybe.. but his name is wrong.

Also, your theory goes the other way around. It is explained by naruto being a senju. I was looking for reasons why he'd be a senju. I liked it, but cannot agree. Naruto can inherit the motivation of the senju clan and battle the uchiha. That motivation is not original, "that love is the key to peace". Naruto can believe that, clash with the uchiha, follow what the senju believed, while not being a senju himself. I know it would be nice if he was a senju, but that alone doesn't convince me that he is. I liked your "wall" nonetheless (even if I don't agree)

And I trust that you don't think that your theory is valid, as neither do I. Almost anything is possible to the same extent.

Then you need to ask yourself who's a Senju now? The last person who was said to be a Senju was the second hokage, even Tsunade who's family of the first and second hokage has never been called a Senju.

And we don't know anything yet about the family of both Minato and Kushina. A long time ago I read a theory about Naruto being the grandchild of Tsunade and Minato her son. That theory is very old, but still possible today as it still hasn't been proven wrong.

And why he would be a Senju? There have been dozens of indications of it, especially Madara. It has never been stated specifically, however Uchiha vs Senju is something that forms the backbone of the manga. It would be completely illogical to have Sasuke, who's a full blood Uchiha with hatred and all and Naruto, who embodies every aspect of a Senju, but isn't a Senju himself =/

And about the seal I made a wall of text some posts ago and I already said there what I think of it.

When I see naruto's hand re-sealing and using the "spiral" movement on his belly; when I see the lock on the kyubi's cage... I still think that the seal is the same one that naruto had. He only re-sealed it using the key that the toad had.

By the way... The Death Consuming Seal is the technique that minato used to pull and cut and separate the 2 chakras of the fox and seal one away for good... The Seal that Naruto has holding back the fox and separating him from it is a "Four Elements Seal". Don't mix the two...

I know, but since when does Naruto know any sealing at all. Undoing a seal is something different than making one. Also the prison that was placed around the Kyuubi was different than his previous one.

ok, at least we settled the clan thing.

Almost anything is possible to the same extent.

my humble opinion is as follows:

Senju and Uchiha were the founder clans. They both (as clans) had traces of the heritage of the Sage. Senju had will, strenght, root, consistency, peace, wisdom, bonds. They represented the traits that The Sage of Six Paths wanted to leave behind. Uchiha represented the traits that he didn't want to pass to future generations like agression, greed, envy, mistrust, lack of bonds. But by the time they founded Konoha, the bloodlines were already very thinned. no one was direct descendant from the sons. So the general traits were there but not embodied in every single clan member.

Since the uchiha were a closed, mistrustfull clan, they didn't open up to other clans. They kept inbreeding, leading them to all be very "the same to one and other". They're inicial traits were kept.

The senju were already a very open-minded trustfull bunch, relating and assimilating other clans and other people to them, making them a type of "united nations" of the naruto world, and through generations the blood thinned, and the inicial traits spread. The only one that kept recouring was the "will of fire".

So I do think that Namikaze and Uzmaki, And Haruno, and Hatake and Inuzuka and all other small clans all have senju mixed in them. All but the uchiha and problably the hyuga.

He never "undid" the seal. He released it... It's diferent. For example, the seal tsunade uses to store chakra...she releases it but doesn't "erase" it. When a seal is released its like opening a door... but the lock is still there so that you can close and lock the door again...

It could be diferent because the other one was a subconscient image of what naruto tought his mind was: an underground suer. And the door represented that image. But he know has a new image...just that.

I think...LOL

We don't know where the name Namikaze comes from in the first place, we don't know anything about his family. The arguments pro and conra the Tsunade theory are balanced. You can't say it's not true, but you can't say it's the truth either. It's an open question.

That's why it's a theory, never said it was the truth, nor will I ever claim any theory of mine will be the truth. Otherwise it wouldn't even be a theory anymore. The definition of a theory is that it's nothing more than a possibility.

Though it remains a fact Naruto used a massive sealing jutsu which isn't his and appeared for a sec like the SO6P. Or it came from his body (my theory) or it came from the Fox, but that concept is incredibly vague as why would that be the case?

minato isn't tsunade's son because tsunade would know if he was (I don't think kishimoto would mess with such things). So I assume that if tsunade was minato's mother, she'd know. Tsunade knows that minato was dead (everyone does) and tsunade would have no reasons not to love him. Then, if minato was tsunade's son, why didn't she want him back when orochimaru offered to resurrect her dearest people? It seemed that tsunade only cared about those two people, and minato was never hinted as being one. So tsunade cannot be minato's mother. I still can't think why this reasoning is flawed.

The new seal suddenly appeared (and was not performed by naruto) right after naruto absorbed the new chakra. Even he was amazed by the new power, by the look on his face. He then closed the [apparently] new seal, maybe with his key, before kyubi could attack him. Why would it not be fair to assume that the power and change came only from the kyubi's chakra. The so6p could implant his knowledge and power in the last of bijus just as easily as minato. why he would do that.. there are many reasons and secondary theories

My theory is that everything that happened was through the fox's chakra (but as a channel, not having anything special itself), and that naruto did not inherit anything real beforehand. if he inherited the will of fire from whoever were his ancestors, that's fair enough.
Here it doesn't matter if he was a senju because, as we discussed, they did not have any special ability. It could have all been planned by the so6p to help whoever gained control over the kyubi.

the four element seal no longer exists since it's no longer seen. The key minato created might be able to open/close multiple seals (or so) since nothing is said about that technique.

This might not be what kishimoto plans to tell us, but if he did, it could make sense and be simple at the same time.

now we're monopolising the thread :overjoy:
